Probably one of my most favorite dive bars here in HI. Love the owner and the waitstaff… they know our orders and always welcome us with hugs and kisses! Order the chicken, ginger tofu, potstickers, ong choy with cake noodle, fries with cheese and garlic… AHHHHHH just order everything! Can’t go wrong! Love this place.

So I really don’t agree with Unilocal reviews, but our experience last night was so unfortunate. A group of us have been coming to 8fat for some years off and on, so for our friends going away party we chose this bar! We showed up about 11pm and stayed until about 1am, although most left earlier. Got to say though, the food is ALWAYS on point. So good pupu specials and great beer deals. Our group of about 10 was the only bussiness I could see besides the 5 people chillin at the bar((definitely regulars)) but when we put in some karaōke songs, it took over an hour and 30 min for just one to play. Unfortunately I overheard a lot of rude talk about our group from the bar guests. Also, I know the bar tender and his wife enough to know that after we payed for our couple songs… she just walked in the door and got to sing quite a few. Some of our group left before getting to sing the song they payed for but everyone at the bar sang Soooo many. So we put in one more song around midnight, and immediately after, the bartenders wife directed our server to remove the books from out table. «Last call» was mentioned to us by our server when we ordered another round of 2 shots at like. 12:50? Although, I don’t think the bar regulars and guests were done being served, just our group. Needless to say, we loved 8fat until feeling so extremely unwelcome last night. Our server was kind and efficient. wish Cheryl or joy or Telma had been there so we felt like family again. So we all tipped 25% cuz we still have love. but not coming back again. Maybe in the future.

In general, like their FatFat Chicken. #2 would be their Garlic French Fries. #3 is their Steak w/mushrooms and onions. #4 is their Chicken Gizzards Fried. Been a customer for over 8 years, good place to eat after 9pm. Can be loud at times, but accessible.

Great place to enjoy drinks, comfort food, and karaōke. Celebrated my birthday there with some good friends and had a great time. The staff are always friendly; Cheryl had our table that night and always made sure we were taken care of. Definitely going back.

Eight Fat Fat Eight is a little hole in the wall that knows how to Karaōke right. I have had the karaōke bug a few times and this place is always recommended as ‘the place’. Songs cost $ 1 and they always follow through. I have been to a couple other places where you pay and you don’t get to sing. There are also drink special every night of the week. They usually only have bottled beer but the other night had NewCastle on tap. Woohoo! If you aren’t in the mood to sing or don’t sing well, there are 3 dart boards and a pool table. Also, some good grinds to snack on!

This is the worse bar I’ve ever been to!!! Service really sucks!!! We arrived at 6:30PM. Placed our drink and food orders at 6:45PM with our waitress, Cheryl. We got our drink order fairly quickly. At approx. 8:00PM, the other waitress, Donna, asked us if we wanted pretzels; I told her that we were still waiting for our food. Well, the pretzels never came… and neither did our food orders. Other parties who arrived and ordered after us were getting their food before us. By 8:30PM, we had still not gotten our food, so we went to find our waitress, Cheryl(who hadn’t returned to our table after the first few drinks), and told her to cancel our food order. She came to our table and told us that the kitchen had just started cooking our order… almost 2 hours after we ordered it!!! We confirmed that we were canceling our order and left the bar. We walked down the block to Honolulu Burger Company and got delicious burgers & fries — cooked & served to us in 5 minutes! Other people in our party, including the birthday girl, who arrived before us never got their food either. By 9:15PM, they left, too. The wait staff never came to the table to let us know that the food orders were backed up, never gave us an estimated wait time, and never apologized for the extremely long wait. Note that even though this was a week night, the reservations were made way ahead for a party of at least 15 – 20 people. So, the management should have planned to have adequate staff to serve people in a timely manner.

What a wonderful bar. We had reservations at Café Sistina but came here first for some pre-drinks. The bartender/patrons were awesome! We almost stayed here and canceled Sistina. The beer/cocktail prices were incredible too! I can’t say enough about this place, even though we stopped in only for drinks. I can’t wait to go back for dinner next.

A friend recommended this place to me. We know one another from a total dive bar we both frequent in Los Angeles for the karaōke scene there and his mother lives on Oahu so I figured we would probably have the same tastes in karaōke spots. We got here and it was indeed a total dive and pretty empty. No one was singing karaōke, they were all watching the Country Music Awards and sitting at the bar. Our group of 5 sat down at a table since we intended to eat dinner. The menu is strange… A bunch of Chinese food, some I’ve never heard of, some really weird sounding stuff such as «fried lettuce,» and then burgers and fries and«emergency food» such as popcorn. Two of the guys decided to order a burger and the waitress(or owner?) Donna was not having it. «What? Why would you order a burger? Our food is delicious.» So, I took it upon myself to order for the table. We had nearly everything and it was INCREDIBLE. No joke. Donna was not kidding. My favorites were the GINGERNOODLES(OMGoodness, these noodles are to die for. They come with a topping of ginger, garlic, and scallions that is amazing), the 8 Fat Fat 8SPECIALCHICKEN(the skin is out of this world. The chicken is perfectly cooked. And dip it in the wasabi sauce she brings out… You will not be sorry), and the FRIEDLETTUCE(seriously. It’s stir fried with garlic and soy and who knows what else. It’s not at all what it sounds like. It’s delicious!) Honestly, everything was good but those were my favs. We also had steamed dumplings, deep fried dumplings, egg rolls, Chinese sausage fried rice, salt and pepper shrimp, and a noodle dish with cake noodles, beef, and Chinese broccoli. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Donna also brought us a plate of peanut butter filled pretzels after we ate and a bunch of kid sized candy bars. For karaōke you pay a buck a song and they bring you the microphone. You sing from your seat. We were worried about turning off the CMA’s but Donna assured us it was fine and we started singing. Once we got the ball rolling the other regulars joined in. All in all our table sang about 15 or 20 songs. It was awesome! I highly recommend it for you karaōke junkies who like to sing, and anyone who digs Chinese food.

Very chill local bar with friendly staff. The food is amazing! I love their house special fried chicken, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the perfect contrast! However it takes 20 minutes for them to prepare it… but it will be one of the best 5 minutes of your life enjoying the chicken! After grinding the good food, you can play some pool and/or dart.

This is my first time here. My ex and his friends use to go there a lot, but when I asked to join, he always said, «you won’t like it there because you don’t drink.» Really!!! Clown! Uh, hello, HAVEYOUSEENMELATELY?! I may not drink, but I love to eat! Teri Y. and I are pretty compatible when it comes to food. There isn’t much that we don’t agree on, including Fried Food Friday.(we call it that no matter the day of the week!) We ordered the fried porkchops, which were good, but I think I would have preferred the pan fried. Edamame is a given when going to a bar. The crispy gaugee was stuffed with so much filling, it put Chinese restaurants to shame.(Sorry Chinese restaurant owners!) I love onion rings and if they are prepared right, I can inhale the whole plate in a matter of minutes. These were light and crispy, and the whole piece of onion slid out leaving a crispy shell to gnosh with ketchup. So yum!!! We got so full so fast that leftovers were packed up for Teri’s snack. The server gave us new dipping sauces which was really nice of her. Granted the establishment is an older one and a little worn on the inside, it’s going to be on my «let’s go there again» list.

Sometimes you just need bar food… but some of my favorite bar food places serve enough for you and 12 friends to share. We decided to check out 8 Fat Fat 8 to see how their food was. I hadn’t been there in about 10 years, but did remember the food was great. We had onion rings, edamame, crispy gau gee and fried pork chops. Yes, it was a fried food night. The server was super attentive(in fact we had to make her wait while we decided what to order). There was enough food for 2 of us to totally overindulge and bring home leftovers. Leftover were packed up for us and even included extra sauce for the porkchops and gau gee. That was a nice extra touch. I’ll have to go back to try the fried lettuce that someone else mentioned. It sounds intriguing.

This review is for their Cheeseburger. If they ever make a better cheeseburger I will gladly remove this thing. Friday night, 8pm, I come in to order a cheese burger. I heard this place had great food, and maybe they do have other great dishes, but their cheese burger is so bad it reminded me of the prepackaged junk I was given at my middle school cafeteria… Seriously, You’re a bar, man up and serve a decent burger! The burger didnt come from fresh ground meet, it was definitely from a very low quality pre-made patty… The lettuce was very dead, no tomato. And the burger over all was tiny. The fries came out room temperature. I hate leaving bad reviews. Especially for a place that has so many great things. Service: Good Atmosphere: Old Drunk dudes Karaōke: Amazing Drink prices: ok to bad But Cheeseburger: Sucks

So much better service! Especially from Donna, she is awesome! Great food too. Bacon pupu is simple, but hits the spot. Crispy gau gee is delicious and hot. Beef ong Choy with cake noodles are tasty; we get them every time we come here. Ika geso is fried up crispy and delicious. It’s a pretty chill place, and good to play pool, darts and sing karaōke. They also play sports and other shows on the tv’s. Great little place to hang out!

8 Fat Fat 8 is a place you go to with friends to relax and and have a good time. Come as you are. No dressing up or need to impress. The interior is typical dive bar with well worn booths, but it’s surprisingly well lit, which means you see everything. For grindz the fried rice and salt and pepper pork chops are favorites, drinks are reasonably priced, and you can sing karaōke till 2 am. An okay place when you want to go out without the fuss.

I finally went to 8 Fat Fat 8, but I just thought it was alright. The food was actually pretty tasty and the service was good. We ordered their famous fried chicken and the gau. Both are fried, and both are yummy. I really liked the sauce that came with the gau. It was flavorful, and went well with the gau. The chicken was also tasty, lightly seasoned, and it came with the salt and pepper mix, if you desire to add it. My favorite of the two was the gau. So many places around town are competing for top fried pollo. This was good, but not one of my faves. If I came back, I’d get the gau and a noodle dish, or something. The atmosphere is a little sketch, but don’t be deterred by its rough exterior. The staff is friendly, the karaōke singers are pretty great, and we actually found street parking on a Saturday night… win! I can appreciate a good dive bar, and this plates hits all the marks when it comes to being divey. It’s dark, kind of dirty, had obvious regulars, and some older folks. The seating in the booths is actually not very comfy. You can feel the springs in them, so that kind of made us not hang out as long. It was uncomfortable. All in all, we had a nice time here. I would not come back here regularly, but I’m glad I finally made it, it’s a nice dive bar with tasty food. I’m not a huge drinker, so the food is a big factor for me.

First things first. Its a hole in the wall. Don’t expect a pretty place that you feel the need to dress up and feel high end. You’ll be disappointed! This is a bar like cheers, filled with regular patrons. Their parking is right before the bar, be careful not to miss it. Parking can get a little tight and taken up quickly, leaving you to park on the street. Which is okay, for me, I don’t mind. They have daily drink specials and pupu specials for you to enjoy. The food is very tasty, the real reason I go. The definite must-haves are steak with onions, crispy gau gee, and cake noodles. I have tried their fried noodles too, that’s pretty tasty too. They got darts, pool tables, and their background music played is people singing karaōke.

I haven’t been back to here in ages and it’s even more of a dive bar then I remember. This small bar with five TV’s(Only two are flat screens), three dart boards and a pool table is where we decided to watch this weeks UH Football game. We decided to try some of their food to pick on and ordered the Fat Fat Soybean, Crinkle Fries and Fat Fat Special Chicken. To be really honest, the best thing was the crinkle fries… So disappointing. I’m sure some of the other dishes are probably good, but I thought the prices were kind of high for a dive bar. Being here several times before I just felt that this place has lost some it’s appeal, as we decided to leave at half time of the game. Would I come back? Maybe just to a few… Service was just OK to me and seemed kind of spotty.
