100 Yelper UYE At Cafe Blue Downtown Lunch Bunch

I could have sworn that I spoke a report into my smartphone soon after leaving the 100 Unilocaler UYE At Café Blue Downtown Lunch Bunch but I can’t find it now. Good thing I took a bunch of pictures!
I arrived promptly at 11 to a nearly vacant cafeteria style restaurant so I had to get on my phone to check to see who I should be looking for and what the specifics of the free drink were.
I cheaped out and got the turkey crescent sandwich for $ 3.95 with a free fountain drink. It was good for the price but I wish the mayo was not already on the sandwich.
I met a bunch of new people and saw some familiar faces. All in all a GREAT EVENT!

Yay for being able to meet up in the middle of the day in the middle of the week! Props to Grant for hosting a fun luncheon! And it was awesome to be able to actually attend for once. (hooray for vacationing in the middle of the week)
I admit I got a little lost trying to find Café Blue — went to the wrong building. But a nice security man pointed me in the right direction. And I was pretty excited for meeting up.
I wasn’t too super hungry, however, so I ended up getting corn chowder (my fav) and a salad. The soup was tasty and salad is salad but I did enjoy all the stuff on the chopped salad.
It was quite awesome to see old and make new Unilocal friends and just sit and talk story!
I cannot wait for the next one; that is, if I have another mid-​week vacation!

Thanks Grant for hosting yet another a great event! Café Blue had been on my list of downtown spots to check out for a while, especially since I see delicious looking sammy/​burgers/​salads on Grant’s instagram on the REG.
I wasn’t even THAT hungry because of the acai bowl I had made for breakfast but I decided to go with the most intense sandwich on the menu. Bacon macncheese grilled cheese sandwich. Now say that 10 times as fast.
Sandwiched between 2 slices of grilled cheese is a half inch layer of gooey creamy macncheese and don’t forget the slices of bacon to add crunch to this artery clogging sandwich.

It will probably be the last time I get this sandwich… at least for this year but it’s always fun to try creative sandwiches like this and if you like cheese then I highly recommend this for you!

Since I hardly go into town during the weekdays, I did my research on downtown parking prior to the big day. Turns out Harbor Court is 3 quarters every half hour for the first two hours and 6 quarters every half hour every hour after that. Assuming you only stay for two hours or less, that is pretty damn cheap. On top of that, Café Blue is right across the street and up six floors.
Thanks so much to security guard in the BOH tower with Starbucks for helping me find my way to the food. I ordered things not normally on the menu such as the chicken Parmesan sandwich and the okonomiyaki fries. I tried to just upgrade the fries with my sandwich but I was denied. So I settled for the tossed salad. I sold out and ate the sandwich with a fork and knife. The okonomiyaki fries made me want to go back to Japan sooooo bad. Thankfully I will be visiting again in a few months.

I have been drooling with jealously everyday as I instagram stalk Chuggy Bear’s weekday lunches so I was thrilled to bits when I saw this UYE on the Unilocal events listing!
I admit Café Blue was a little hard to find (I have a terrible sense of direction… just ask my car) but I called on Unilocal intern Christine P to help direct me (the trick is to actually enter the bank & take the elevator to the 6^th floor) and before I knew it I was sitting at a table full of awesome Yeeps!
Because I had previously determined to order the grilled bacon mac & cheese sandwich I was torn when I saw the fresh catch was swordfish. I decided to go big or go home and got the decadent cheesy bacony yumminess (with a green salad instead of fries!)
Heaven.
I actually forgot where I was for a moment as I bit into that irresistible calorie fest. If you’re in need of comfort food baby this is it! The salad was a nice pairing to cut some of the richness and I feel like having some veggies makes this a healthy meal. LOL.
But as awesome as the food was (and oh man it was!) UYE’s are really all about the company! Hanging with new & familiar friends, talking about out next meal or planning yet another UYE it just doesn’t get any better than that!
Great UYE Grant & Russ! Can’t wait for the next one! (hint hint) :-)

Chuggy Bear strikes again.
It was great getting together at Grant S. favorite lunch spot.
He practically owns the place. Thanks for all the specials and free drinks.
Too much fun!

It’s been a while since I have been to a Unilocal event.
Busy beyond belief, but mostly because I’ve been on a strict diet that doesn’t allow me to partake as much as I used to in eating uncontrollably at any given UYE food function.
Lucky for me, Café Blue serves some pretty healthy options, so this UYE was a no brainer. I ordered the Black and Blue Salad and for $ 5.95, it was a steal. The people that work at Café Blue are always very friendly and efficient, so I was happily eating in a matter of seconds.
It was good to meet a few new Unilocalers (Hi Erin, Don’t let Justin U. bully you into liking Breaking Bad!:) As always, it’s great to catch up with the old Unilocalers that were in attendance.
Chuggy Bear, you rock! Thank you for setting up a wonderful event!
Even if we didn’t physically hit the 100 person mark, I’m sure that many Yeeps were there in spirit!
