Stopped by this little gem on my way back to Tampa from Crystal River. I had not been to a basic diner style restaurant in years. I’m giving this place 4 stars for its authentic environment, plain old good breakfast food, unheard of prices(in the last two decades anyway), pleasant service and clean restaurant. Sometimes it’s nice to go back to the basics.

Best advice is seek food elsewhere! Ordered the turkey dinner and it was served with generic brown gravy! Chicken noodle soup was flavorless and watered down. Our server was more interested in socializing than waiting her tables. Avoid this place, it is not very good.

We went to this restaurant for the corned beef and cabbage special, which they will be serving all day today, St Patrick’s Day. The meat is not corned beef. It is some kind of mystery meat. It is slimy, rubbery and tasteless. The baked potatoes were under cooked, actually hard and raw. When I complained the waitress sent the owner over. He was rude and obnoxious. I did pay the bill, because that is the way I am, but I will never return.

I went there to eat on sunday by myself. I waited for around Ten minutes with my name on list. The lady called my name I went in then the owner told me since I was one person I would have to wait and let other people with more in there party to sit before I could. I dont think so. never been treated so rudely just because it was just me to eat. Never go there again. Awful owner to be so very mean and rude to me.

We had breakfast here on Saturday 01÷30÷16. We had a small wait as they were busy. Our server was less than attentive and unless you are a regular at this restaurant you are not really of importance. We had three tables come in after us two of them almost 15 minutes later. However, they were regulars as the server and I am not sure if it was the manager or owner spent a great deal of time speaking to them. All of their orders came out before ours even though we ordered before they did. When we got our order my wife had a blueberry pancake that was so cold the butter would not melt. I had home fries as did my father in law did and they were Luke warm at best and tasted as if they had been sitting a while. The sausage gravy was so cold it was a thick floury paste. We all ran out of drink and our server was standing next to a table of regular customers chit chatting. We waited and we waited and finally we were able to get her attention and were able to get refills after about 5 minutes. We ran out of drinks again and just said forget it not even worth trying to get her attention again. Our server was not interested in how our food was but was very interested in having extended conversations with the regulars ignoring her other customers. We then had to wait for our bill and had to flag her down again to get it. I found that she had over charged us on our bill and the check had to be taken back to be corrected. We will not be back at this restaurant after the actions of this server whom seems to care less about us as customers who are not regulars. Horrible service and cold food.

Very disappointing. Discovered this place several months ago. Started going a few times a week. This may sound petty. Let me explain fist. My business would have been $ 1,500 per year with just me alone and I leave a minimum $ 5 tip for a $ 10 – 15 meal. Obviously more business and tip if I bring guests. I started bringing guests. So double or triple that amount. Last visit I ate alone. I am widowed and haven’t learned to cook that well yet. I ordered pancakes and asked for blueberries on them. The price didn’t indicate extra for the blueberries and the waitress didn’t state the extra cost. I get my check and there is an extra $ 1.50 on my bill. I ask for what. I’m told the blueberries? And when I got my pancakes I chuckled. A whole 8 blueberries were on my pancakes. The son of the owner of the restaurant explained the costs and the short life of blueberries. I worked in restaurants from busboy to waiter and manager. I know the restaurant business. A $ 1.50 for 8 blueberries coming to 18 cents for each blueberry??? I expressed my disappointment to the waitress. She argued and then deflected to the owners son who made the decision. I expressed my disappointment to the manager at the register. He didn’t care. Apparently they don’t want my business and they lost my business. Am I being petty? Being on disability I need to spend my money wisely. $ 1.50 for 8 blueberries isn’t a wise decision financially. I operate a non profit animal sanctuary and rescue. The local feed store made a bad financial decision once. Because of that bad decision 5 non profit rescues took their $ 10,000 a month business elsewhere. I guess my personal $ 1,500 a year plus guests business isn’t worth changing you’re $ 1.50 policy for 8 blueberries.

Clean, decent food. Friendly staff. Free dessert with your meal. What’s not to like? Mostly older clientele – the ones who know a good thing when they see it! Best meal I’ve had so far is beef tips and noodles, which is a special on Thursdays. Comes with soup or salad, tea or coffee and of course – dessert!

I give 5 stars for the cleanliness I saw, while there eating my steak dinner for $ 8.65 complete with dessert. The Prices are AMAZING(2=$ 12.99) with dessert and The Good food will make Us a regular customer. I care if a place is clean– There was no dust anywhere– and they was cleaning menus with a cleaner. Only thing was bad was pep leaving $ 2 tips. Please understand a waiter or waitress pay is Mainly tips

Stepping into this place is like walking into a 1950s joint. The sea foam green walls could probably use a fresh coat of something more fitting to this decade. But to do so might scare away the majority of the customers, who all seem to be past retirement age. I felt out of place on a crowded Tuesday morning, as I’m sure they all knew I was not from the area or era! But that doesn’t matter because the Spinach Feta Omelet I had was absolutely delicious! The home fries were quite bland and you’d think I committed a major crime by asking for hot sauce for them. The prices here are quite reasonable and I would recommend a visit to anyone in this area. Just be sure to bring cash since they do not accept debit/credit cards!

Cute, clean diner with better food than I expected. The chicken noodle soup broth was tasty, the Greek salad had a great homemade dressing and yummy feta, and the triple-decker turkey club wasn’t half bad. I’d skip over the open-faced steak sandwich though, as it was pretty bland. Will definitely come back for breakfast, which was recommended to us by a few locals. Good and cheap too! It’s cash only but if you run short, there’s an ATM across the highway.

We went to this place after reading the previous reviews. We figured out that«Teddy» was busy cooking for the breakfast rush. Some omelets feature spinach or feta, a big clue to being greek owned. We also went there for dinner, Teddy and his family greeted customer after customer by name. This is another small town restaurant with a strong local following.

Just like Kingpin said 2 years ago… this place is great. Nice cozy waitresses and home cooked food. Our server was Greek and said this place is Greek owned. My friend and I had the 2 for $ 12.50 dinners. I chose the half chicken and he had roast turkey. Soup or salad… soup was delish! Choice of a tater and veggie. Iced tea or coffee and dessert included. You just can’t beat that. If you look in the mirror at the cloud my friend noticed you could see the word help. The cashier had never noticed. The waitress said there were more letters and was a greek word! Lots of old folks… fun to watch :)

This place is a time machine of many sorts. The clientele are the older set, complete with walker frames — they all know each other and are not afraid to shout the details of their latest surgical procedure across the restaurant. There is a quite appalling, but most amusing, mural along one entire wall of the restaurant — comprised of Zeus, an angry-looking cloud, and a columned Greek building(probably the Parthenon), in three clearly-separately crafted panels, not quite matching in color, scale, or style.(I am guessing this was a Greek restaurant at some time, though not now! Check my picture!) But the food and the décor are clearly timeless favorites… from the 50’s. Floral plastic tablecloths are the perfect setting for grits, biscuits and gravy, eggs, omlettes, hashbrowns, homefries, and all the regular fixin’s. The food hit the spot and was devoured quickly — being exactly what you would expect in a restaurant that was packed with pensioners by the time early-bird hour was underway. Nothing special — just good eggs and good biscuits served friendly and fast. So why the coveted five-star rating? There’s not many places two can eat without complaint for less than eight bucks! (Cash only!)
