There is a cloud of mystery surrounding this establishment. How does it stay in business when I see so few cars there during lunch and dinner? Is it pet friendly? I would like to dine there again with my poodle. There aren’t many restaurants in this town that will allow that. I hope to dine here soon with my pet python snake and poodle and hope to enjoy the awesome panang chicken! Can they fix the parking lot? It is in shambles, like a war zone. Almost like they don’t want any customers. :( Friday 9÷18÷2015. 6 pm. 4 cars, 8 pm 4 cars. White prius there both times. Saturday 9÷19÷2015. 6:05. No cars in the lot. Sunday 9÷20÷20156:00. 1 car. Monday 9÷28÷2015 Noon. 2 cars. I had the panang chicken. It was very thin and sweet, not very good. Friend’s teriyaki chicken was very generic. Other friend’s red curry was also very thin. The chicken in all three dishes was bland and chewy. The room was warm and very humid.

This place is a hidden gem. My fiancé and I went last night and ordered a lot of food along with sake and only paid $ 41 and an $ 9 tip. We ordered the pan fried gyoza which came with ponzu sauce and it was mouth watering delicious! So crispy and full of flavor. Then our ginger salad and miso soup came. I ended up finishing my soup and the rest of my fiancé’s it was so warm and refreshing. Then the order of tamago I ordered came out. I fell in love with the sweetness of the egg combined with the sticky rice. Yum! Then our entrees came out. I ordered unagi don and my fiancé ordered the sushi deluxe which came with octopus, sweet shrimp, soft shell crab, unagi, yellowtail, white tuna, red tuna, salmon, and a roll of spicy tuna. My unagi was cooked to perfection and it was more than enough food to make me full, I couldn’t even finish all my rice. My fiancé’s sushi was the best he’s ever had. I tried some of the octopus and salmon and it was fantastic. Beautiful cuts of fish that just melt in your mouth. Service was fantastic. Our waiter, which I believe he is the owner, was so sweet and would tell us thank you every time he came over and as we was leaving he waved so excitingly at us and said«see you soon!!» We left him and pretty fair tip and we will be coming back! Prices are extremely low here: Gyoza: $ 3.75 Tamago(3 pieces) $ 3.25 Sake $ 9 Unagi don: $ 9.75 Sushi deluxe: $ 11.75 Please don’t shoot this place down and give it a shot!

I’m not sure what happened to this place. I had been once before, about three or four years ago, and I really enjoyed it then. We went today because we were craving sushi, and Taipei 101 was nearby; however, I was pretty shocked at the degree to which this place had fallen apart over the years. We went at 12 noon on a Friday, and there were only two or three cars in the parking lot — not a good sign. We weren’t even sure it was open until we caught a glimpse of the illuminated Open sign. And speaking of the parking lot, the first thing that we noticed is that it was unkempt and in need of resurfacing. The exterior of the restaurant did not look inviting at all. This alone is not enough to deter me from a place, but the inside was just as bad. Dark. Deserted. Empty fish tank in the middle of the dining room. We could hear people talking in the back, but we didn’t see any customers. We stood there for a good five minutes without anyone acknowledging us, and then we left. Since we didn’t actually eat there, you can certainly take my review with a grain of salt, but we won’t be going back unless there is some substantial renovation. Is Restaurant: Impossible still on? If so, I think I’ve found a good candidate for it.

Great place! Family owned and operated. Only ever seen a male and female working there, both of whom are very very friendly. The inside and outside are a little dated/depressing but it definitely doesn’t reflect the food. The prices are great, especially for the appetizers and soups. I recommend the red and green curries with tofu or chicken. The chicken and steak teriyakis were not very good. The meat was just very cheap and way too burned but other than those dishes everything is SOGOOD. I personally love to help out new, family businesses so that’s why I will always prefer this place over the red pearl/bowl or Okinawa. The food feels a lot more personal and really feels like its made by someone who cares. Definitely a must try for everyone!

This place is a hidden gem, point blank. For the price, you really cannot really compare… other comparable sushi and entrees at a Japanese restaurant are much more pricy. My husband and I live close to this restaurant. We wanted to try it and we were calling in late(Thursday at 9pm — they close at 10) and we ordered the teriyaki chicken entrée(that came with rice and Veg), volcano roll, california roll and spicy scallop roll. Oh, and a side Miso soup also. :) The only thing i can say is that we didn’t really like the spicy scallop. There was no «crunchy» factor, so it’s kinda like a spicy tuna roll. The volcano roll was awesome; and the rest was also really good. well worth the call-in order. We were delighted. The total cost of our meal 27.00; but we left a nice tip since it was the end of the night. Glad we did! and we’ll be back!

I’m in town for work so got takeout from this place tonight. I’m half Taiwanese so trust me I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised! Nope. Place had no one in it, and the interior was falling apart. Despite the looks of the place, I was hoping the food was good. However, when I dug into my dinner, the salmon roll was so minuscule/tiny and the sashimi deluxe was made of raw fish pieces I had never seen before! I literally threw out a third of it. I live in NYC and have been to so many sushi/Japanese places over the 10 years I have lived there so I know what good sushi and sashimi looks like and this wasn’t it. Cherry on the top — the guy in charge REFUSED to give me low sodium soy sauce unless I paid 50 cents extra. His rationale was that their prices are so low compared to other places that they have to make people pay for low sodium soy sauce. What a joke. I won’t be back.

A fun and eccentric little environment, with some strong, great Thia ice tea. Had the Mango Pradise Roll and it was pretty good! The service was very kind and made sure we had everything that we needed. Will most likely come back here soon

This place is awesome! Worth to try and price is not expensive at all, food taste wonderful! Only thing is that you might wait a little bit long if there are many people. But I will give five star for taste and price!

This is, as of now, the best bang for buck asian food and sushi. I assume the prices are attractive at the moment to stir up business, but my wife and I were Not disappointed. Noodle soups are pretty good, appetizers are well priced so you can try a few without feeling guilty, and the sushi is better than you would expect for the price you pay. It is unfortunate that so few people give this place a chance, but i will be dropping by this place at least once a week. Check it out.

The food is amazing. The outside looks like it’s abandoned, but me and a lot of my friends come very often for sushi. There are usually only two people working so it’s a little slow, but the food is amazing ! 2 thumbs up.

Maybe Taipei isn’t the best sushi in the city. Or top 5. Maybe it is danky and has incredibly stressful faux brick glued to the inside walls, but only in random places. Maybe there are weird pillars randomly placed, and the booth seats are too far apart, and there are weird statuettes gazing down upon you like the piercing, judgmental eyes of Dr. TJ Eckleburg, ever looming over you. The staff is unendingly pleasant. And honestly, the sushi isn’t as bad as the thai and japanese food that people have reviewed here. The spicy tuna roll is mostly flavorless. And the Fuji Roll is disturbingly odd. It is supposedly topped with lobster — but it is more reminiscent of some mutant sushi hushpuppy with shrimp in it. Other than those two, every roll I’ve had has been good, and for the price — it’s tough to beat. Lunch specials that offer two 8-piece rolls for $ 7 mean it’s a rare jewel — somewhere to gorge on sushi to the point of explosion without leaving you unable to pay your mortgage. Giggidy.
