Taqueria Morelia

This place had amazing tacos. On vacation and wanted authentic Mexican food. Nailed it!

For me, authentic delicious Mexican equals Taqueria Morelia, a small hole in the wall dining establishment adjacent to a gasoline station. It was also Instagram favorite, Taco Tuesday, so we just had to have some tacos. I went with a trio: carnitas, carne asada and al pastor. The carnitas were good, but my favorite was the al pastor with the carnitas a close second. The meat in the al pastor is bursting with flavor. Usually with these tacos the pineapple is served fresh on top, what’s different about theirs is that the pineapple is cooked right in making it extra special. I love that a slice of avocado is included in each taco, I love Avocado! They also have a nice variety of homemade salsas that pair great with their complimentary chips basket.

I offered to drive from Brickell to Homestead in the afternoon to pick up Girl Scout cookies for my daughter but secretly I just wanted to go to Taqueria Morelia… and I did… and it was worth it. My friend @andymiami on Instagram is a big foodie, and he said when you go to Homestead, you have to try this place. Now, every time I go to Homestead I go to here or Shivers or both. I’ve scheduled meetings with people I didn’t need to see just to eat here. I recommend the tacos al pastor, but really everything is great. One word of warning, they have a salsa bar which is great, but when a Mexican says something is hot, believe them.

Great place. We only had 90 minutes before we needed to return to the park. They were very fast. My hub had 4 different tacos. Lived them all but the carnita the best. I enjoyed my burrito. Highly recommend 86^th r avocado salsa.

They were right to say «Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”– at first glance, I can see why you would drive past this place without looking back, but I was convinced after reading Unilocal reviews that this place was worth checking out, and boy was everyone right! This place I kid you not, has the BEST PASTOR TACOS, I’ve ever had. They also have a sauce bar, so you can make your tacos to your liking. If you’re stopping by the Everglades and are looking to satisfy your taco craving, this is the place to be!

I was in Homestead last week and was in the look out for some good tacos and Unilocal showed this place had the most reviews and a 4– star overall. This restaurant is located on the side of a gas station (be careful not to miss it). As soon as I enter I was greeted nicely by the staff. Our server was very friendly and took our order right away. I order al pastor tacos (pork) and lengua (cow tongue) tacos. The al pastor tacos were pretty tasteful but the lengua tacos needed a bit more flavor in my opinion. There was a station of like 20 salsa from guacamole salsa (green salsa) to regular pico de gallo, the salsa were a plus and they all had labels in case you don’t know which to try. They are label from the mild flavors to the most spicy ones.
This place is good for a quick bite while I was there I saw a few customers just coming to pick up their order. I saw other customers orders and they all look very yummy. The tacos were okay I have had better but next time I am in the area I will try something else on the menu to give this place another chance since a lot of Unilocalers seem to like it. Maybe I didn’t order the good stuff on the menu. But the service is very good and the salsa bar too, its clean, and they have jarritos and aguas frescas (horchata). This is a very small establishment I wouldn’t recommended for groups.

Then taste three places for tacos recently and found this one the most tasty with large amount. You may need to wait for a while. The salsa are also fresh.

Awesome place, had a Carne Asada burrito, the food was amazing. Food was fresh, great flavor, and presentation was on point. Great service get treated like a member of the family. Highly faithful locale with a clean setting and traditional cultured atmosphere. Has a great a mix of technology and hospitality. Try this place with the family or by your self, will not dissapoint.

No frills Mexican food at its finest. The complimentary sauce bar is a nice added touch.

I was born and raised in LA, I’m Mexican american and I’m a chef myself. Believe me when I tell you Morelia taqueria is legit. Best Mexican food here in Miami and I lost count of all the Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. And a double thumbs up to Morelia cause my parents are from Michoacán same state Morelia is located.

Don’t let the appearance from the outside discourage you from walking in. We almost missed great food and service because of it. It’s right next to a gas station, but it’s not associated with it and the food is delicious authentic Mexican food. I tried the carnitas, al pastor, barbacoa and sudadero tacos. The meat was very well seasoned and delicious. My husband tried the enchiladas Rojas with Al Pastor meat. He describes it as an «explosion of flavors» with potatoes, pineapples, carrots and queso blanco on top of the enchiladas. My daughter had the burrito with sausado meat, which she loved and she’s the pickiest of eaters. Overall great casual and family friendly atmosphere. Humble and small but authentic food and extra friendly service.

They never fail to satisfy the appetite.

Torta de milaneza de rez is awesome. Have it every time. (I’m a creature of habit) Hubby always tries something different. The salsas have awesome great flavor. The serving cups could be bigger but dang the best Mexican south of Georgia and northern states.
The food is fresh and tastes so great. !!!
There’s no other place like it except in Chicago…

We had the Al Pastor burrito and chicken quesadilla with rice. The burrito was amazing but the quesadilla needed to have salsa added to it to taste good. Try their guacamole salsa with your food. Wash it down with a Mexican Coke.
Im giving 3 stars because the wait time did discourage us, but the food made for it. The staff were very friendly and attentive.
We would still come back, but maybe call ahead to order.

Greatest tacos in homestead by far… and i have tried them all… this place beats them hand down. Try the tacos pastor with pineapple… you will thank me.

Sehr gutes mexikanisches Essen. Als Restaurant eher einfach, Preise sind vor allem für die Tacos sehr günstig. Wir hatten das Alambres für 2 Personen, welches deutlich zu viel war. An einer Beilagenbar kann man sich die typischen mexikanischen Tacofüllungen und Saucen selbst zusammenstellen. Haben uns hier noch einiges in die Take Away Box gepackt. Achtung, megascharf. Abhilfe schafft ein Zimtmilchgetränk. Als «Vorspeise» gibt es selbstgemachte Chips mit Saucen aus o.g. Beilagenbar.

Good Mexican food. The reviews made me stop here. I don’t think I would have seen it otherwise. The carne asada was very good

The food was authentic Mexican. If it hadn’t been for the other reviews, I wouldn’t have even given this place a second look.
It looks a little ragged on the outside, but the food was delicious. The burritos and the enchiladas are so tasty. Salsa bar is a nice touch that can be customized to your preferences. Don’t miss out!

Stopped hear after running a few errands in the area as we wanted some authentic mexican tacos. Honestly, the place is small and non-​descript but the staff was welcoming and friendly. We oredered a few tacos al pastor — which were very very good. the salsas were also above average. We will go back wehen in the area and maybe give it a more thorough visit.

My boss was so skeptical when I screamed at him to STOP at the Valero gas station to hit this place for lunch on our way to the track. This place was clean, delicious and the salsa bar was mind blowing. You can also get burritos and Modelo at 10am. Such a Miami dive treat.
