Delicious, traditional, home cooked, Mexican food. Went at around 3pm Saturday afternoon. Our server was fantastic and the food awesome. If I am down that way again, I will defo pop in for a bite to eat.

I love Mexican Food! This is my second favorite Mexican Resturant. My waitress was really nice, I ordered a sopa de menudo, a chicken taco, homemade tamarindo & my boyfriend ordered a chicken soup. While waiting for the food our waitress brought us nachos, Yum. My soup was delicious & the taco. Tamarindo was just right. My boyfriend didn’t enjoy his chicken soup at all he didn’t even finish it. When it was time to pay, our waitress brought us free deserts thats awesome. Since my boyfriend didn’t enjoy his soup they didn’t charge us for that & I ordered another sopa de menudo to go it was really good. Im pregnant so I will most likely get hungry later. Homemade Torillas Deserts Waitress Price I will definitely come back!

The service was awesome. Our waiter was Neidi pleasant and she was in top of things. The food was super had plenty of flavor and the portions were big. We paid $ 27 for a steak fajitas, carne asada an order of guacamole and an a drink horchata super reasonable price. Definitely recommend this little hole on the wall. The best they give you free desert that you can take home. Choice of four deserts!!!

Best taco north east of the border. Super nice people and a good reason to take a trip to another country … Homestead

Food was awesome! It’s in the same strip mall as the gas station but don’t let that be a deal breaker. I would give it 5 stars if they little basket of chips was bottomless. Otherwise everything was very delicious, hot and affordable.

Great cheap restaurant. Menudo and quesadilla are amazing. Home made tortillas and free desert. Enchiladas were alright.

I work across the street from this place and I feel as I have won the lottery! I wont eat all day until I get to work so I can order a carne asada burrito! Their flan is great also.

I ordered the carne asada and got some sort of dry stake. My boyfriend like his burrito, but was not impressed. We got free deserts, but they don’t make up for the dry stake. I did enjoy the rice and beans. If you are taking out the wait is very long so call ahead. The tong tacos tAke longer to cook and are more expensive than the others.

Only once in a blue moon do I get this far south, but when I do, stopping for Mexican in Little Mexico makes the trip. I’ve tried a few other restaurants here, but so far, Maya-Mex takes the postre. Nice little place, family run, with great, affordable food. My only complaint was that the steak was a little dry. This was remedied by all the condiment options: cilantro, pico de gallo, green tomatillo salsa, pickled vegetables, and many more. The lengua tacos were also delicious. To top it off, they brought us over a complimentary rice dessert(sorry, I don’t know what it’s called). The waitress didn’t speak English, but was extremely friendly and we managed to communicate what we wanted with ease. Next time we’re in town Maya-Mex with have some return customers.

Stepping out of the car, it was like a scene from a Floridian version of Breaking Bad. Streets lined with chain restaurants, tired looking palm trees and tinted SUVs with chrome wheels and pickups slowly cruising round the parking lot. Maya-Mex shares a strip mall with an eclectic mix of stores, ranging from an insurance agency to a bible store and a prosthetics repairer, but we’re glad we stopped here. We were the only non-Spanish speakers there that day, but it didn’t matter. The staff were really friendly, we were given some complementary fried tortillas and frijoles refritos to start, and when our food came, it was great. The tostadas were huge and delicious(try holding a dinner plate sized disc up to your face and eating it delicately!) and the tacos equally good. Some gesturing from the waitress indicated that there was salad, cilantro, and various chillies available at the counter too. To top it off, they had some delicious mexican ice-creams available– chocolate with condensed milk, rice pudding and tequila amongst the flavors. This town certainly isn’t a destination, but if you’re traveling through, be sure to stop here.

The smell when you first walk in is pretty random. I think it’s the smell of tortillas baking or whatever. Hours later and I still smell funky. Boy does that smell stick. Another warning: no menus. So you have to know what you like. The waitress does speak English. But if you don’t know what you’re getting in to. Then you might just end up getting real simple food. I got the taco de lenguas. Best place I’ve had them so far! Also got the quesadilla with steak. It was good. Not bad. All in all. I would go back. But next time for takeout. :)

Perspective first. Unilocal wise this would be 5 stars as there is a lot of overrating on Unilocal..Against all restaurants, rating objectively, it would be 3 ½ stars. In its class, 5 stars. For its real atmosphere, 6 stars. Homestead is somewhere you would never be unless you were lost, misfortunate, or otherwise inconvenienced. It is however onthe way to Everglades National Park and the Florida Keys. What intrigued me was this place had a glowing 5 star review but only one review. Smelled funny, but it was clear the other reviewer was for real. So when I had a guest who wanted Mexican, off we went to Homestead. Homestead recently had a mayoral election where one candidate ran on the platform to call Homestead the«Manure Capital of the World.» She lost— but– Only by 18 votes. I made that up but it gives you a good flavor of Homestead. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants that look nice from the street on Krome ave which explains why the Yuppie types who post on Unilocal never found this place. Maya-Mex is set back from the street in a strip mall that is totally authentic Mexican. My friend said it looked scary and I had to tell her I was a Ninja Turtle to convince her it was safe. We were the only non Mexicans there, and it was just like being in real Mexico. I think if we had stayed all night we might have been the only non Mexicans. The staff was very nice, spoke English and the food was good. My friend was suprised it was so good. It was really safe. Not like going to real Mexico. Think about it. If La Familia was to send emissaries to Miami, those guys wouldn’t go that downscale, unless they were keeping a low profile or wanted really authentic. If you want to eat Mexican in Homestead and like local color, this is the place. Even better skip Homestead altogether. It might not even be on the Map.

Great tacos, caldo de res, and menudo. The best i’ve had in Homestead, after trying 9 other places. Tiny and friendly.
