I stopped by to get carry out, we have kids so this was the only way to try this place. The hostess told me they don’t do carry out until after 9 because of the dinner rush. It was 6:30 and the place was half full, I had my hopes set on having a whiskey while I waited for the food. I ended up at Taco Bell. Unfortunately, this place is too cool for us.

Went in for a late lunch on a Sunday. Great time, we were practically the only ones there. Service was great and timely. Drinks were fab(cucumber margarita and the puna) and really complimented the food. The food was piping hot and fresh. The coconut shrimp weren’t the best I’ve had but the raspberry sauce definitely evaluated the flavor. My super picky brother loved the empanadas. My entrée was the Puerto Rican lasagna was heavenly. We’ll Def be back.

we live nearby and were excited to try the place out. I checked the menu out online and it looked great, and were esp excited to try the queso fundido and empanadas. We get there and there’s a special cinco de mayo menu which only had about five basic dishes to choose from, nothing special. The spicy queso was $ 9, there was no meat, and basically, it was about five to ten chips worth. It was good, but the cheese didn’t even reach up to a third of the small bowl it was served in. I mean, come on, at least fill it $ 9 worth. The tacos were good but there was an extra charge for cheese(which would be fine, but $ 1 for a small sprinkling is ridiculous). And also a 50cent charge for tomatoes(yes, tomatoes). The server was nice and very polite but the overall experience was hard to ignore. We were charged an extra $ 2 for pork in error. And all of these charges were discovered when we got the check. And check, this place is off our list.

Wish I could give this place a 0. It’s horrible every time I’ve gone there. Service sucks. was just there last night and asked for a jack and Coke and waited 15 min For it and started asking what’s taking so long to my friends and they pointed the waitress out sitting at a table on her phone just texting… so I finally went up the bar and got it and she gave me my check… she added the drink she never gave me… smh. have fun with all the nickels and pennies we gave you as a tip you deserved it champ.

The food is good — if you can actually get any. The server was pleasant and hardworking, but the kitchen is another matter altogether. Our party of ten made a reservation for 7:00 on a Saturday night. The owner said that our large group would overwhelm the kitchen at that hour if we ordered all at once. So we changed our time to the less-busy 6:30, and we ordered a little here and a little there. We didn’t need to eat all at the same time, so that wasn’t an issue.
Chips and salsa took over an hour to arrive. And the rest of the food came out at odd intervals, with no apparent rhyme or reason; dishes did not arrive in the order in which they had been ordered.
We had to wait unbelievably long times for the rest of our food: two members of our party waited TWOTOTHREEHOURS — yes, you read that correctly — for their meals(one a quesadilla, the other a flatbread of some sort). The quesadilla was ordered at 7:15 and still hadn’t come as of 10:20. And this after repeatedly asking the server! Unreal and totally unacceptable.
The rest of us waited anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes for our meals, still far too long. If you have all night to hang out, with no place to go, then stop in here. But if you have fewer than four or five hours to spend here, or if you are hungry, do yourself a huge favor and go elsewhere.

Such a HUGE disappointment! Went there to celebrate a family event with 7 people. They REFUSED to put the tables that were right next to each other together. We planned on spending the evening there for dinner & drinks. The drinks we did order we had to order twice took over a half hour to get & they weren’t even that crowded. The place looks cool but the customer service was absolutely the worst we’ve experienced!

I used to like this place, but not anymore. The service has gone down hill, they over work the staff and bartenders which leads to slow service and a long wait for drinks. The menu is short of options. If you’ve been there more than five times you will run out of things to try. The last time my wife and I were there the new manager was obviously drunk and unapologetic about the slow service, also the male owner walks around the place and gives customers dirty looks and glares for some reason, i feel like its hard to relax and enjoy myself because I’m constantly being watched. ONEMORETHING! They refused service to my wifes friend the last time she tried to eat there because she gave them a bad review! This will probabaly get my banned from rub agave, but honestly I don’t plan on going back!

Apparently if you make a negative comment about this place expect to be blacklisted. I went into the bar not even 20 minutes and was denied service due to a negative post on their Facebook commenting about their music. I really enjoyed coming to this place but if the management cant handle criticism then ill take my business elsewhere. If i could give negative stars i would.

This is used to be my favorite place around my town until tonight. The manager was really drunk and the owner was really mean tonight. I asked him for some latin music, and he was really mean and never played latin music during all night. I loved that place because of the bartender Emir, but after tonight the bad treaof these people gave to us, i can tell me and my husband will never come back.

If you’re thinking of going to this«Latin-infused» restaurant, save your money and just go to Taco Bell instead. At least you’ll get warm food warm in a reasonable time frame, plus bonus… you won’t get ripped off! Took forever and a day to even place our order(was not even busy, so not sure what the problem was). The food was bland, cold, and way overpriced(not to mention all the absurd«upcharges» — really $ 4.00 for inedible salsa the size of a Gerber baby food jar). Come on now. What’s worse, Rubi Agave couldn’t seem to come up with a few sets of silverware for us, even after waiting 10 minutes and asking repeatedly, after our food arrived. Now that’s what I call a true customer-focused experience! Way to go Rubi Agave! At Taco Bell, they, at the very least, put utensils and napkins in the bag when you ask for them. The bartender/server/Prima Donna, Demir, said they were famous for their«aged» margaritas, but truthfully, it’s for all the wrong reasons. If you like the smell(and taste) of dirty socks, you will simply LOVE their margaritas… that’s IF you can even get one. Waited in anticipation for our first round of drinks, but when they finally arrived(20 minutes later), they tasted and smelled super moldy. Heaven forbid you politely try and send it back. Demir cops an attitude the size of Texas, extols a lot of «pffts» before finally relenting(while telling you you’re wrong — oh yes he did) and claims he’ll take it off the bill, but doesn’t. Switched to lemon drops which were served in low ball glasses. No martini glasses apparently either. You’d think on a Friday night at 5:00, you’d be more prepared as a restaurant, but hey what would I know as a seasoned patron of restaurants? Yet another lesson given by Rubi Agave in customer service. If you’re looking for a restaurant where you’ll to be disappointed, overcharged, ignored, and given an attitude, then Rubi Agave is the place you’ll want to go!!! Highly recommended for that experience. Tell all your friends. And for all you would-be restaurateurs, this is the place you definitely want to send your employees for training… for lessons on what NOT to do.

I was in town visiting with my family for the holidays and my Dad and Stepmother were dying to take us here. I could see why they freguent this place because seriously everything was so good. The presentation of the food was beautiful and the chimichanga was enormous! We had guacamole, wings, empenadas, tamales, salsa, the lasagna and chinichangas. The lasagna was so good I couldn’t believe even my picky as heck husband liked it. Atmosphere was nice with tvs to watch sports. Service was on the ball and I would totally recommend this place to others. It reminded me of a miami cuisine. When my family and I come back in town we will definitely visit again.

Not sure what the other complaints were about, we must have came on a good night! Loved the food! We had the mini jibaritos, which reminded me almost of tostadas, but way better and way more flavorful. We also had chicken tacos and guac and chips. Tacos were also good, and the guac was perfect. You can tell it’s made fresh with the chunks of avocado on there. My passion fruit mojito was my favorite drink that I ordered, it was delicious. We also played the one game on one of the big TV screens called«Fibbage» which was a lot of fun, especially when others in the bar joined in. Music was goood, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our bartender, Demir, was great and always checking up on us and made us feel welcome. We will definitely return!

We went here after a movie because we wanted to try it out and because we had 15% off coupon. We ordered empanadas and drinks. The empanadas were horrible and over cooked. After getting bill we were told we weren’t getting the discount because you needed to buy an entrée, but nowhere on the coupon is that stated. Don’t waste your time or money here. The only good thing was the waitress. She was courteous and did her job well . If I could give it less than one star I would. One more thing front glass is broken and if a strong wind hit it, it would hurt someone.

After sitting at the bar drinking overpriced drinks we ordered. Chips and salsa — that they charge $ 4.00 for. They give you a great big basket of chips and when you run out of the tiny bowl of salsa they give you you are S.O.L. buy another $ 4.00 salsa. Really? There are plenty of other places to go that has better service and food. I give this place a few more months to be open. Sianara

My date and I went here around 8p on a Sunday night. The venue was fairly empty. There was a family that was leaving as we arrived and a few individuals sitting at the bar. Needless to say, I don’t think they place can be classified as an authentic Mexican restaurant. There are plenty of Puerto Rican infused items in the menu. The appetizer for example was a goat cheese and meat stuffed plantain with a savory salad and rue on top. I wish I could re-call the name. Date and I ordered the exact same meal, but were told there was only one. So I compromised since there was the skirt-steak chefs special on the menu. As a rule of thumb, I never order skirt steak. Is a poor cut and chewey. However, not far from edible. I can’t say that I enjoyed my dish, much more of a personal preference than anything. The skirt steak wasn’t worth all the chew. The original meal I wanted to order was absolutely delicious. It was like an oso bucco stew and you’re given a heaping amount of rice. After trying my dates, I definitely lost the appetite for my main dish. I took off one star for them running out of a main dish on their menu. And I took off a second star(this may seem trivial, but it’s all about balance) for only having super ginormous booths. I was swimming in the booth.

How to explain our terrible experience in a short description is going to be difficult. So I won’t even try. To whoever is reading this review to consider trying this place – don’t go. To whoever owns this restaurant– hire new staff. For starters, it was not that busy. There were only two servers and one bartender on a Saturday night shift. That should’ve been my first warning. We waited 15 mins at a table for someone to finally greet us with menus. Her name was Christina. Very nice. Funny. Then, she tells us someone else who works there wants our table, so she leaves. His name was Demir. Quiet. No personality. He very quickly took our drink orders and our appetizer –which was chips and salsa and guac. Another 10 mins and our drinks finally come with no appetizer and we place our dinner orders. Another 30 minutes goes by with no appetizer and Demir is no where to be seen. How long does it take to prepare chips and salsa?! We grab the attention of the waitress, Christina, and tell her to cancel our order of chips and salsa. Demir finally comes out of no where, confirms our cancellation and doesn’t apologize. All he does is blame someone else for not bringing it out.(Also, still haven’t gotten refills at this point). It has been an hour. Still no food, no refills and no Demir. The table of 6 next to us, who came in about 30 mins after we did and who was being served by Christina, has gotten their chips and salsa and their dinner! At this point, we are furious. We are not the type of people to walk out without paying, or expect anything for free. I personally know the stress and craziness of working in a restaurant and always tip well. But last night, we wanted to walk out. It was THAT bad. We were just about to ask Christina(who we have spoken to more than Demir) to get us the check for our drinks and cancel our dinner. Too late. Here comes Demir with our food. It’s cold. So, we ask Christina to get the manager. Here comes Demir. He is the manager. We start a conversation at this point, asking him what took so long. He is now defensive and snappy. The most personality I have seen on him all evening! He never apologizes, blames the cook and tells us it depends on what time the ticket was put in. So, basically our ticket order was put in around the same time as the table behind us –who came 30 minutes after we did. He says he will get us a free round of drinks. We did not want another round. We asked to be comped for the ones we already had instead. He nodded his head and left. Here comes Christina with a round of drinks we did not want. We told her we never asked for them. Here comes Demir. Now he says he can’t comp us for the drinks we had. Even though 5 minutes earlier we agreed upon that. So he lied. The food sucked, the service really sucked and now we have been lied to.(I’m not making this up– this seriously happened. ALL of it.) He gets us a box and our check. We were charged extra for a few add-on items(which I knew about the cheese on my burrito, so whatever). It’s $ 1.00. My boyfriend did not ask for cheese– he was charged $ 1.00. My other friend was charged $ 2.00 extra to add green peppers to a cheese quesadilla. $ 2.00?! Seriously?! Demir is gone. He never comes back. The bus boy takes our check and comes back with the receipt. To Christina and the Bus Boy: keep up the good work! Needless to say, this place is over-priced and not worth your precious time. You’ll waste two hours there for crappy service and cold food. If you still want to go even after this review (which would seriously amaze me), ask for Christina. If she is not there, LEAVEIMMEDIATELY! Very disappointed. We are never coming back and telling everyone we know not waste their time.
