Love the Ulta stores but at this location the staff especially the general manager are very snobby, they don’t ask if you need help they just stand around uselessly I’ve never seen such bad customer service, to make matters worse when u get someone’s attention in my case this was the general manager they act like they don’t want to help you!!! Like your being a pest. Hire friendlier down to earth people Ulta we’d highly appreciate it.

Believe it or not this is not the first time this macho food finder had been to Ultra. It is the first time I went on my own to buy a gift for my teenage niece. I walked into the store and was greeted by a lovely woman who walked me through the selection and purchase of an excellent choice. She made the entire event swift and pain free.

I seen this place all over youtube in the beauty bloggers I follow and I was so excited when my girlfriend told me theres one right in there neighborhood! This place is pretty big and has from hair products/tools to makeup from LORAC, NYX, CLINQUE, bareMINERALS, BENEFIT& more which was super exciting and they also sell typical face and body products and perfume. There is just a lot to see and look around and enjoy just seeing new products that came out. There is also make up/hair artists there to help you with your choices, give advice and even doll you up if you like. You can sign up for a rewards card that helps you get coupons and they usually have some pretty good sales in here too! I will be back cause I really loved the store and just has everything you want in one!

AT this store, no one is friendly. They do not come up and help you. The sales people are all obnoxious.

This review is for the salon. As any curly haired woman knows a good hairdresser is very hard to find. When I found Kelly at the Ulta Salon in Holmdel I was at the end of my rope dealing with a frizzy mess. I got a great cut and Kelly always takes the time for a blowout.(Not all salons want to deal with my hair) I have my hair color treated every 7 – 8 weeks and with the products Ulta uses have minimal damage. The product selection in the retail store is excellent and the beauticians in the salon have always been knowledgeable in helping me with my selections. I can’t comment on the other stylists personally but all seem both professional and friendly,

Typical Ulta Store. I am rating this particular location with 1 star. The sales people are not familiar with what products they have and EVERYTIME I pay for my purchases there, I find the sales people behind the registers to be extremely rude.

This is a review of the salon in Holmdel. I have no qualms about the retail store. I came in for highlights with Maria. I had never dyed my hair before. When the service was done, you could not even tell I had highlights. I had mentioned to her that I wanted it look look natural but noticeable. I left the salon with wet hair so I really couldn’t tell how bold the highlights were. When I got home, I could barely see the highlights in my very dark brown hair. I came back the next day because I was not happy with results. The other women working there said they could not tell I had highlights and offered to redo them for free. Christie did my hair next. She bleached it and died it blond. I asked her to tone it and now it is an ugly copper/bronze color. I will never go to this salon again!!! EVER!

So overall I love ULTA. I just moved back to the area after living in the Midwest for a few years and ULTA was my go to place — they were everywhere. I’ve been visiting this particular location, Holmdel, frequently the last year & I am so appalled by the level of customer service. They are rude & don’t answer questions when asked & are unhelpful. Til late, I have let things go but now i refuse to go back to this location. I went into ask about the new OPI Shatter nail polish and the lady informed me that they were out of stock and i’d have to try back later. I said ok no problem. Only to overhear another girl ask her the same question, and for her to go in the back and get her the color she wanted — rude & rude! Today, I went in and they were out of the dermalogica product I wanted, and instead of being nice about it — the girl shrugged and walked off. So yeah, definitely not coming back & i advise you guys to stay away too…

This is a review of the salon, the retail store is great. I’ve been getting my brown hair dyed blonde for 6 moths now with no problems. Then I moved to central NJ and this is the first salon I tried as my sister gets her hair done there. I went for a simple root touch up. For some reason the stylist decided that she wanted to give me brown hair with blonde highlights even though I said I wanted to stay light blonde and just do the roots. I was devastated. I called back the next day and the manager was nice about it and offered me to come and get it fixed for free. I accepted, and when I came in she said all she could do is highlights. This is the MANAGER now who was doing my hair. The color came out OK, but not like the picture I showed her. BUT the condition of my hair is total garbage. They over processed it and its a huge ball of frizz and damage. Before I entered an Ulta salon I had beautiful honey blonde hair in great condition and now $ 350 later I’ve got a mess. I’m never going back again.

What an overdue review. As I contemplate salons to cut and style my current what-seems-to-me heavy hair, I feel compelled to reflect upon my past experiences with this particular ULTA location. Warning: this is a long one folks, but I felt it all needed to be said. I stumbled upon this location as I searched for salons who would do a Locks for Love cut for me. Yes, I am a good Samaritan, ain’t I :) Called them, got an appointment with a hairdresser who specializes in short styles(I’m not sure if she’s still there but she was amazing), and anticipated disaster. You see, when I was in second grade, my mom thought I would look clever and cute if I got a boy cut; I feared receiving this same haircut as I anticipated my hair appointment where my long locks would produce a short style. When I was finally seated in the seat, my hairdresser told me she would braid my hair and then cut the 12″ needed for the donation. My fear increased and my heart pounded! I couldn’t bare to watch as she made the final snips! But WOW what a relief of weight after that braid was gone! She worked her magic and produced a wonderful haircut that didn’t make me masculine! And my hair looked amazing in my senior portraits afterwards. When I got to the counter to pay, I found out that since I donated my hair, I just got myself a free cut and style. Awesome! After this glowing experience, I decided to return to ULTA to try out make-up and an up-do before my senior prom. The makeup was all right but the updo was great. As you remember, my hair was already short, making it very hard to work with and handle. But the updo turned out much better than I expected. And so I returned yet again to ULTA for senior prom. I brought in a couple pictures of some ideas I had and my hairdresser combined the best elements of all and made me look awesome. She put some glitter in my hair after I told her my dress was gold, but she did not make me look tacky. In all of my pictures from that night and the following day(I didn’t want to take it out initially with all that hair spray), when I didn’t slouch at least, I looked elegant thanks to my awesome dress and ‘do if I don’t say so myself. I’ve heard that ULTA salon employees are entirely overworked since they have to man the salon and the retail portion of the stores. If this is the case, these ladies sure didn’t take that out on their salon customers. The ladies have done a tremendous job on a number of occasions for me. I don’t care if they are part of a chain, they should receive props nonetheless.
