Unique Wear

I LOVE shopping at Unique Wear whenever I am in South Florida — and coming from someone who lives in NYC with all of the stores here, I enjoy getting great personalized service from the owners. They always have exactly what I’m looking for — things that would take me hours to find in Manhattan — and amazing prices. You can’t beat the selection. I always make sure there is room in my suitcase for what I buy there and the best is when my friends in the city ask where I buy all my fun clothes, I know I have something UNIQUE!

I would like to preface this by saying that this is my first bad review EVER…
I have never in my life met a more rude person than the man behind the counter at this store… Why a gentleman (not even sure why I’m calling him a gentleman that would show class… how about dude?) would be working in a womens store without people skills is far beyond me. I should also say that the only reason this place is getting one star from me is because I couldn’t give it 0.
I had never been here before, but had received numerous gifts from my family from here… I finally received one that I wasn’t 100% fond of and it got me into the store. I was always told that I should go there and that I would absolutely love it… Ha!
I was greeted by this dude behind the counter with a grunt… his dog was on the sales counter and I complimented the dog (it was a pomeranian and I have one too) I was given a grunt by the dude for that too… Awesome! Nice to meet you!
I was walking around the store for about 10 minutes picking something else out when the dude screams… UGH!!! This sweater smells! He proceeds to yell across the store at me that he is not taking the return because of the stench as well as that the receipt shows that it is from 6 weeks ago. Now, I can’t control the way a cheap ty-​dyed sweater smells after 2 weeks of being in the bag. I also can’t control when someone buys a gift around the holidays. Most normal stores extend their return/​exchange period around that time knowing that gifts are purchased. He continued to belittle me (across the store mind you with other shoppers in it) with his grunting ugh! ugh! Come up here and smell this… Ugh!
It was totally humiliating… I do not smoke, I did not wear it, It was a gift. I’m giving it back in original condition, in the original bag with the sales receipt. He was telling me then that I could only exchange it for something on the sales rack so then «he wouldn’t feel so bad about it» and that «I could pick something out for the price, less the cleaning bill» LOL Such a jerk. I have to laugh about this now.
The store was such a let down after being hyped up for so many years. I do have to say that the women in the store were very nice and accommodating once he was gone… He left the store for some reason… Maybe it was him that smelled ;)
Anyway… I would never go back and I’m telling my family not to buy me gifts from there. As a business owner myself I understand that customer service goes a long way… So long that if you don’t have it, it will eventually push people out the door.
