This place has the best hoagies and PIZZA!!! I recommend everything on this menu including their salads. Everything is fresh and homemade. PIZZALOVERS: beware the garlic if you are not a fan. The pieces are relatively larger than you would get. Price is right and they don’t skimp on toppings. The hype is true. Enjoy!!!

Come every year to Ft Lauderdale from Nashville. I tried Sonnys 3 years ago after seeing it on Diners Drive Inns and Dives. I make sure to visit every year I come down. In my opinion the best steak hogie I’ve ever had and I’ve been to Philly and had a few there. I always eat one and take one to go. I look foward to it every trip! As fresh and juicy as you can get from the homemade bread to to the meat to the homemade sauce. You can’t go wrong with anything you choose.

Meat was super tender, no fat, bread was tough, sauce was really good, waitress was rude and acted to much in. A hurry to help us, some older blonde-greyish woman, anyway the other waitress was smiling and talking to others being polite so it must have been her. I ordered double cheese in mine and it was good. Very Yankee I’m told. Could have used more meat and not so much bread but was with a Philly friend and he said they’re supposed to be that way, js.

Best steak hogie I’ve ever had! I seriously came from California to try this place since I saw it on the show Dive, Dines and Drives. The staff had excellent customer service and you can tell they enjoy where they work. Before we leave back to California we are gonna have to grab one more!

Went to Sonny’s as a result of Diners, Drive-inns and Dives visit. its good for sure and although I wouldn’t call it my kind of philly authentic it’s petty close. They make the bread and use butter to cook, I didn’t however see a defibrillator on the wall, but doesn’t mean I didn’t just miss it. I stop here whenever I’m in the area… and sometimes when I’m not… A little detour in the name of a cheese steak is a good thing… don’t you think? I can’t review anything but the Cheese steak because that’s all I’ve ever had but everything I see coming out of the kitchen looks good.

After mindlessly watching several episodes of diners, drive ins and dives last night, an episode featuring this establishment came on. Being that I’ve never had a cheesesteak in miami, it gave me a craving. My boyfriend and I ventured up to Hollywood from miami beach. It’s located in a strip mall next to 3 churches and a psychic. Establishment is small and waitress or take out. Cash only. No frills establishment with everything served out of Styrofoam cups and plastic baskets(what more do you need?) and it’s clean. I got the steak sandwich with mushrooms, onions and cheese sauce and my boyfriend got a meatball sandwich.(And they have Tastycakes! Which you appreciate if youre from the Philly area). Both were of reasonable portion for the price, which was about 7 bucks. Not bad. Was it the most amazing cheesesteak of my life? No, but it was pretty darn good. Service was quick and friendly. I will definitely return if in the area, but would not make a special trip.

Our first stop in FLL before heading down to Key West and it was a great start to our trip. It was something you expect from a place that was on DDD. The food was great and the service was even better! They only have like 10 tables in a small area so be prepared to wait if you come during rush time. We ordered the #50…so good!

My son wanted a meatball sub, and when I looked for one nearby(well, it wasn’t really nearby, as it was a 15 minute drive compared to the ½ dozen 5 minutes away, but it was the best reviewed) this place came up. Because one of the reviewers called them hoagies, I figured it would meet Philly standards. Anyhow, my son said it was great, though he’s had better(in his 11 years). Since my ex made the best meatballs ever(she was the best at a lot of things) I rate it pretty good, but not the best. I want to go back and try a cheesesteak there though, eventually. See how that measures up. Update: Went back this week(son wanted another meatball sandwich) and tried the cheesesteak. It ain’t Philly, but it was damn good.

This place is a gem and not only are the hoagies amazing but the pizza is even better. Thank god for my health they only serve it after 4pm because if not I would be there eating it three times a week. I’ve tried every pizza place in my area and this one is in my top three. I usually get the jackpot and it comes with 5 toppings. The crust is crunchy on the outside but warm and soft on the inside. Just enough sauce and equal amount of toppings between all five and they give you a lot. Im a big guy and I love my fully loaded pizzas. There is no review that can detail the deliciousness you will experience when eating this pizza. I’ll probably head over later!

Is this place the epitome of cleanliness? Nope, but my steak Hogie was amazing, way better than I anticipated. Soft fresh breads with well cooked and textured steak. I’d love to visit this place again a future trip to South Florida. Edit: Clean enough that I didn’t anticipate a hospital visit after I was done.

Come here for inexpensive comfort food. This place is tucked away on a side street of a strip mall. From outside you would never really know the deliciousness they offer. Once you open the door, you are enveloped in the smell of grilled onions and steak(that’s how you know you picked a good one). I am slowly making myself a regular here by bringing every friend I can to come eat their subs. I like the classic meatball with mozzarella and sauce, it’s so hard to not get this when I come here. However, Sonny’s is known for their steak hoagies!!! You can get a simple one or add on extras like: sauce, grilled onions, green peppers, mozzarella, provolone etc. They will also allow you to order sauce on the side and offer free hot pickled peppers. I want to point out that they make the bread in-house. I took a group here at 11 and had to wait for them to open at 11:30. As we waited 3 – 4 cars pulled up and joined the line. Come 11:30, the doors open and the seats in the place immediately fill up. I love that they have crushed ice also and will give you a lid for your soda to-go. Because this place is cash-only, I had to deduct a star, but seriously I would scrounge up coins for one of their hogies. Another point to note: they do not serve french fries here. I happen to like this fact while others not so much. As sides they have salads and chips. Try their italian dressing, I think it’s made in-house and is delicious.

This is a nice hole in the wall spot that was featured on «Diner’s Drive-In’s and Dive’s.» It’s a nice quaint place and the staff is friendly. I ordered a steak hoagie with mozzarella cheese and sauce on the side. The«sauce» is homemade marinara sauce… And it’s fantastic! Overall, great food and a cute little spot.

When you walk in you immediately feel that mom and pop feel being open for more than 50 years and featured on Food Networks Diners, Drive Ins and Dives this place offers some pretty tasty«philly» style hoagies. We went in and sat down immediately which is awesome for any place that’s ever featured on TV. Our waitress brought us our menus and brought out are drinks immediately, I ordered the steak hoagie with everything on it… You know, go big or go home! Give me all them flavors! Our food arrived at the table roughly 15 mins after we sat down, it’s simple: a sandwich and marinara like sauce to accompany it(excellent for dipping or pouring on the sandwich) I wasn’t too fond of having my extras like the mushrooms and peppers thrown on top of the steak instead of cooked inside but it still tastes amazing. A soda and a fully loaded sandwich came out to a little over $ 10 which was great! Not to mention they have the best ice with their drinks… You know the one that’s kinda crushed but is slightly chunky and crispy?! I would definitely need to follow up, try a different hoagie to give a better review since I wasn’t feeling what I order as much.

3.5 stars. Last time I rounded up to 3 from 2.5, at this time I’m rounding down. Sonny’s makes a very competent cheesesteak, but the cash-only policy, and presence of a waitress(I have to tip on a philly?), are a bit of a downer. The quality of the ingredients rate the 3.5, maybe even a 4, but if I am in west Hollywood and craving a cheesesteak, Quickies still wins for me.

Brunch!!! Well, not really, but when we’re in the mood for a steak sandwich at Noon Sunday, this is how we do it! We got there a few minutes after noon, and it appeared we just beat the rush. A lot of people were clearing out, which I didn’t mind at all. We got a booth, and put our order in. We started with Sonny’s version of mimosas(beer!). Hubby had a Budweiser and I, a Michelob light. Hubby remarked that there was a pic of Guy Fieri on the wall behind me so I turned and snapped a pic of the pic! The food came a few minutes later… surprisingly quick, based on our prior visits. Hubby likes to order 2 sandwiches, the number 50 and a number 90 with provolone. The 50 comes with the sauce and the 90 is plain steak and onions. I opted for the 50 with the sauce on the side. I also added mushrooms and provolone. I think they don’t put enough provolone on the sandwich, and it’s buried at the bottom. Also the mushrooms are canned. I prefer fresh sauteed mushrooms, as the canned ones do not pick up the flavor from the steak as well. About half way through the meal, the place started getting busy. By the end of the meal, people were lining up at the door and I was wondering if we were even going to be able to get out. I am not sure we could have planned such a perfect time window at that place, but as luck would have it, we were there at just the right time. A couple notes on Sonny’s. I recommend them highly despite the areas they could be better: 1. They would do better if they had sides besides salads. If fries are out of the question, they could offer chips. 2. They should use all fresh ingredients instead of skimping on things like mushrooms. They take fresh baked bread and prime beef, and put canned mushrooms on top. Seems like a bad idea to me. I think they may not want to do better. That place is pretty busy every time we go, so whatever it is, people love it!
