Lake Aire RV Park And Campground

This review is geared towards the class A RVer or well equiped 5^th wheeler, who does not care to rough it. I could see how one’s experience might be quite different as a tent camper, but I certainly can’t speak to that.
Arrived super late, wasn’t a problem since we registered by phone earlier that day. Long country uneven gravel road that seemed to go on forever and a day before and after the office. No pavement anywhere. We stayed in a pull through, 50amp w/​full hookups, no individual tree, just a picnic table. We were pretty close in proximity to other RV’s (difficult to navigate our exit) & the facilities: restroom, laundry, soda machine pool (water looked a little cloudy, but couldn’t smell chlorine), etc. didn’t have a need to use any of them, so I can’t rate.
30 minutes away from downtown Charlestown. Go & check-​out the historic marketplace. It’s in the heart of downtown & is semi-​indoors. Certainly cooler in their than outside. Would be difficult to navigate w/​a large stroller. Hundreds of vendors, mostly crafts, a bit of food, plenty of parking & good for all ages. Huge amount of restaurants & fair amount of hotels surrounding the marketplace.
Making our way across the country in the past almost 2 weeks we have stayed at RV resorts in Southern California, Arizona, Texas (Houston & Austin), Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and now South Carolina. That said, I would not consider myself an expert, but certainly not a newbie. So, I think I’m qualified to say the water pressure came pretty close to sucking. Took me twice as long to wash and condition my hair than it usually does and we have an aftermarket showerhead upgrade, that produces aerated pressure.
If you’re an evening TV watcher like myself you must bring your own satellite dish because antenna TV is not going to work out too well here. Limited channels, which become so choppy you can’t watch them after a while.
1:54am passing train, laying on the horn & again at 9:04am. I have no doubt that their was at least one more in between. However, either my exhaustion or hubby’s snoring drowned it out.
Only disruption that was related to the park itself was an unruly small dog outside, who I never saw, just heard. Now I have to say, I’m not much of a small dog person, exactly for that reason. Continuous yapping for 3 or more minutes for the sake of it is annoying & super rude of the owner. I raised my 20 lb French Bulldog the same way I did my 70 lb Boxer, with lots of love, human socialization & discipline when needed. Uuuugh!
Front desk staff not the friendliest, but certainly not the rudest person I’ve met.
Wouldn’t stay here again based on the noisy train, low water pressure, unpaved roads & distance from restaurants & entertainment.

Went there in July and it was good. We did a tent site with power. Nice secluded quite clean. 3 nights less then 40:-) people are nice well organized. Camping in Charleston but feels like the woods would love to come back again.

I thought overall this site was good, I mean 16 $ for a basic campsite, tough to beat! Anyway bathrooms were a little below average, but to be honest, that was my only complaint… Will return!

This is a dream campground. First we were greeted by Amber who could not have been any friendlier, thanks for the warm welcome Amber! The grounds are lush with geese everywhere. Reasonable rates, everything you need. Catch and release fishing in pond (no license required), propane, ice, books, tourist brochures, picnic tables, wifi, fire ring at each site. I really recommend this place. Looks like it is about 10 east of Charleston.
