Maybe it’s me getting old, or maybe I have just been spoiled, but barbershops have gone the way of the 30 minute lube. Used to be a time where the barbershop was the place to go for current events and to socialize, but now, it’s in and out. I don’t mind that though, IF I can get in and out. I will say this… They cut great hair, and the owner is on point. The place is VERY nice when you come in. But I guess thats where it ends and the difference between old and young barbers begin to show. As a walk in, the Owner made sure I could get cut right away. Total time for a fade took over 45 minutes… twice as long as what I am used to. If you can work fast, then we can talk and exchange pleasantries, but when you are not set up when I get in your chair, but you have been hanging outside the shop, waiting for walk-ins, there is no excuse. It shouldn’t take almost 5 minutes before you are ready to ask me what style I want. Secondly, you ask me what style I want, I tell you, but you still question. I normally go a little less than a 1, I wont complain… but when you put a 1 and ½ on there… at this point, I want to do anything that will let you finish me faster.(didn’t work i guess)…If you want to suggest a different style/length, engage the customer and ask why, or suggest«because». All of those I could have overlooked… but here are two things I couldn’t…and maybe I am wrong for it… ONE… you use a straight edge on me… I don’t hear or see you pull a new blade out of the box… that’s a big no no to me… You are breaking the skin, a client should SEE you pull a new blade out… and you SHOULD pull a new blade out. TWO… I could overlook and assume you DID have a new blade… but when you hand me a dirty mirror to examine your work… then what other signals does that send? I will say this… the cut was EXCELLENT… but the other things… I can’t say I wont go back… what I will say is that I will probably use a different Barber and hope for a different result.
