CLOSEDDUETOFIRE… Not sure if they are going to reopen somewhere else because the place is up for sale now. But the food was very good. It was the very first Peruvian place we tried in Florida and fell in love.

The absolute worst Peruvian restaurant, and my Peruvian friend agrees. Yes, Goyo’s is cheap — dirt cheap — but I think the food should be somewhat be flavorful — even on cheap standards. The chicken was too charred and lacked little flavor, but thankfully the rice saved the meal, somewhat. In my opinion, it’s not deserving to be in the same category as ‘Peruvian’ cuisine. I rather spend all $ 4.95 at a vending machine.

Similar to others, I used Unilocal to find a great local place to eat. After reading reviews on this place, I decided to stop in. As others have said, when driving by I noticed the parking lot was almost empty. I decided to stop in anyway and I am so glad that I did! The staff was amazing! Very friendly and recommended some amazing dishes. The food was cooked to ordered and tasted amazing. I also found the value to be good for the portions served. I also noticed locals coming in for to-go orders, so while it is off the beaten path for visitors it clearly is known to those living there. I enjoyed an appetizer of sliced beef with a spicy dipping sauce. The beef was thinly sliced, seasoned to perfection and very tender. I could not pass on the roasted chicken, which is a peruvian staple. It was extremely tender and the portion was large. it came with 2 sides of which I chose black beans and plantains, two of my favorites. Each were among the best I have ever had. I cannot wait to return to this area for my next business trip and have a meal there. In the meantime, I will be searching for something comparable in Atlanta!

Wonderful Restaurant! Based on Unilocal reviews, we decided to give it a try for a leisurely dinner. It’s one of those places you would not go to unless you knew beforehand that many others regarded it favorably. First, the staff was incredible. Each person made this a very comfortable evening and made our dinner marvelous. We arrived on a Thursday evening. Hardly anyone was there. So, there was no wait for a table and during the course of the evening, it looked like no one else had to wait either. The tables and décor were spartan but very pleasant and clean(so were the restrooms). The waitress really helped us along in our menu selection since neither my friend nor I am very capable with Peruvian food. We started with an appetizer sampler. The waitress was able to substitute one item in to accomodate our taste buds. Then each of us had a beef dish, one being a stew, the other being beef strips with onions. The white beans and white rice made an amazing moros-like side. My date noticed a sangria listing on the chalk board and we had two pitchers of them($ 21.50 a pop). The pitchers were of moderate size and the wine was tasty and complemented our food immensely. The staff was marvelous. During the course of the evening, the waitress made good suggestions, the assistant chef provided us with a sample of a delicious dessert. We had only two small issues for the entire enjoyable evening. One, there was often a considerable wait between courses. It looked as though the orders of others were put in front of ours. But, it was obvious that we were going to take our time with dinner so this was no biggie. Although it took about 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee after ordering it(the coffee was good though). The other issue is one we encounter in some restaurants in Florida, that of an added on gratuity. This is insulting. While this restaurant added only 15%, we have a policy that that is what we will give. Here, we would have tipped more had the restaurant not«suggested» that amount. So, the total amount for dinner with wine, appetizer, coffee(no dessert) was about $ 120(ahem… gratuity charge included)…and well worth it! Gratuities should never be added as a matter of course. With all of the Europeans visiting us, it might be suggested that the bill does not include a service charge and that one is appreciated… but afterall… it is a tip not a charge! Notwithstanding those small issues, this restaurant is great! We will be back and hope others patronize this small, out of the way, but super accommodating restaurant.

So I finally stop passing by here and made my way inside. I love this place! Inside is very clean and decorative. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I went during lunch time and they were not busy, surprisingly. I took advantage of their lunch special and ordered a ¼ chicken with 2 sides and soup. While waiting for my to go order, I was offered Peruvian corn while I waited. Very unusual, but I enjoyed it. My food was delicious! Seasoned perfectly and the portion size was great. I can’t wait to go back and try other things on the menu.

I’ve passed this place a million times and it never occured to me to try it… it’s the plaza that it’s in I guess. It’s actually very nice inside, boardering on trendy. I got take-out(there’s just no lady like way to devour bone in chicken as far as I’m concerned and I wanted a little privacy) — it was a ½ of their rotisserie chicken and peruvian style fried rice. Now you have to understand that I am a salt addict so something has to be VERY salty for me to find it exceptionally tasty, that said the chicken was tasty, possibly could have been a little tastier but very moist and tender. the fried rice was great and I polished it off. It also comes with some of that ridiculously hot green stuff that peruvian places always give you, god I love that stuff. I’ll definately go back since my go-to healthy meal is usually chicken and vegetables and I can only eat so much Boston Market. Give it a try and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Mentions of a «sketch» neighborhood are overstated. It’s a typical south florida strip mall. Nothing fancy, nothing scary. Restaurant interior is done up a bit with colorful orange and white. Oddly modern. Either way, the Aji gallina was super tasty. Lomo saltado was good too — slightly undersized portion though. Wifey had the crab soup which she really liked. Fried wontons were pretty boring. They make this fantastic cilantro hotsauce which I dumped on everything. Muy bien. A bit pricey given location and modest décor but food quality made up for it. I’d go back if I lived here and had a hankering for some lomo saltado.

Very nice restaurant. The outside is deceivingly unattractive; so don’t let that fool you. When you go inside the lighting is really nice and the nicely organized tables with the orange runner takes you to a different place. As soon as we walked in the employees were pleasant and very attentive. Food was excellent; I especially like that spicy green sauce they give you on the side.

Since I last visited Goyo El Pollo a couple of months back, lots of things have changed — mostly for the better: 1 — Lunch specials are more expensive, but still a relatively good deal for lunch. Expect to pay between $ 5-$ 7. The lowest priced lunch special is $ 4.95 for a quarter chicken with two sides. The portions are still huge so expect to leave fully satisfied. 2 — They have remodeled and the place looks great. Nice curtains, modern tables, painted walls. 3 — The menu is much larger and includes plenty of Peruvian favorites. Protip: Lomo salteado is the lunch special on Fridays only. 4 — Service is still fantastic. You know receive roasted corn as a snack along with piquant green chili sauce prior to ordering which is typical of Peruvian restaurants. Although prices have gone up, I still really appreciate having a large Peruvian meal with friendly service enough to keep Goyo el Pollo on my lunch rotation.

I was staying at a hotel nearby and was starving but too lazy to go out and look for something, and I didn’t want pizza, so I Unilocaled what was nearby and this place came up. I was iffy at first, but decided to just go for it, and wow, best decision ever. Food was fantastic. I ordered chicken, rice and plantains, my boyfriend has chicken with some special rice of theirs and plantains. It was rotisserie chicken, super juicy and tasty. The rice was great as well. I was extremely satisfied and even though this place is super far from my home, whenever I’m in a hotel again in this area I will definitely call them up again.

This business recently relocated from former location @ 1920 Tyler Street. New spot is directly across from the bowling alley and Mardi Gras. Pembroke Road and S Dixie. Quick lunch special $ 4.95 ¼ white rotisserie chicken + 2 sides. Thumbs up. They are still working on the aesthetics, it shows big time. They just moved in 3 weeks ago, but the place looks old and drab and sad. The mens room stall doesn’t lock so you have to worry a little when you poo. They deliver.

In looking for someplace totally different to try, I found this reviewed on Unilocal.I have friends down in Hollywood, so we all decided to try it out last night. There were six of us, but only two of us ordered appetizers. I ordered the potatoes with cheese sauce and my parter ordered the Peruvian corn with the same cheese sauce. The potatoes were simple sliced and cooked potatoes… not much you can do with them other than the cheese sauce. I know it sounds kind of down-market, but it looks a bit like the melted cheese you get on nachos at the cinema(which is really yucky). However, this cheese was really silky and packed some spice punch. It’s what the dish is all about. The Peruvian corn was really big kerneled corn-on-the-cob with the same cheese sauce. The corn was not as good as your typical corn(ie, tender and somewhat sweet). It was a little more«starchy» and had a different texture… but it was the perfect compliment to the cheese sauce — the usual corn would not have worked at all with the sauce. Almost everyone ordered the roasted chicken with white rice — which they all started to rave about. Interesting thing… no one offered me any! Even my partner said it was too goo to share! Damn! I ordered the Arroz chaufa… sort of a Peruvian-Chinese fried rice with chicken. It was very delicious… what do they put in there? Crack? Yeah, I’ll have to go back to get more. I do have one little complaint… it should have had a little more chicken(but next time, I’ll order some of that roast chicken!). Oh — I also had the chicha for my drink… made with purple corn. It was very tasty and refreshing… however, it is a bit on the sweet side, so be prepared. One glass is enough, unless you want to go into diabetic coma. This place should get 5 stars for the food alone, but I can only give it 4 stars because of the ambiance — or lack thereof. The interior is very basic, and the chairs are very uncomfortable. The music playing was a bit loud and there was also a TV on(NEVER a good thing). And, it was way too hot. On the plus side, our waitress was extremely nice and helped us navigate the menu.

Brined and marinated roasted chicken: Delicious. Choclo a la huancaina made with fresh corn imported from Peru: Amazing… I was very impressed, actually.(This corn is not sweet and the kernels are huge. A bit of an acquired taste.) Arroz chaufa with ginger, chicken and godknowswhatelse: Sublime. White rice cooked to perfection: Well… perfect. Fat chunks of sweet plantain: Moist and golden brown. Black beans prepared from dried beans instead of canned: Nice touch. You must try the cancha which is NOT like corn nuts… here’s a tip: Order the ceviche, any ceviche and add some cancha to every spoonful you eat. Cuzqueña beer: Yummy. Inka Kola & Cola Inglesa for a hot day. Location, convenient. Prices, affordable. Service, sweet and pleasant. You have to wait for your food because it gets prepared to order… and as the menu points out, it’s well worth it. This place is down and dirty, unpretentiously good. The décor is modest and a bit drab… the chairs are uncomfortable. The little wall-mounted AC is not adequate for the size of the dining room. But who cares? Come for the food and nothing else.

All I can say is wow… I never expected the food from this place to be this good! Anika G’s and DO’s posts are right on! Goyo’s specialty is Peruvian style Rotisserie Chicken. Some of the juiciest, tastiest chicken I’ve tasted in a good while. The Choufa(Peruvian style fried rice) was equally tasty. The place is a steal, for about 5 bucks you get a ¼ chicken with choice of 2 sides. I’ve been back many times already and we also ordered delivery for a little get-together we were having… all of the guests were equally as impressed.

Why did it take me so long to check this place out? I’ve been driving by it for years and decided to get some take away for lunch today. They have daily lunch specials and I decided to try an appetizer of potatoes in cheese sauce and the Peruvian fried rice for my entrée. OHMYWORD! The food was so good! The appetizer was not what I expected but I still enjoyed it and would have it again. The potatoes were sliced boiled potatoes covered in a cheese sauce that is simply amazing. It’s not too mild and not too spicy… it’s just right. The fried rice was interesting and yummy. I had no idea that Peruvian Fried Rice existed and was eager to try it out. It consisted of rice, eggs, red peppers, green onions and chicken. It came with two sauces a creamy yellow one and a green spicy aji. The rice was just awesome… the flavors blended well and the sauces took it to the next level for me. The prices for the lunch specials are very reasonable… for $ 6.95 you get a soup, entrée and a soda. They were out of soup when I got there but it didn’t bother me because the food was so good. I think I may stop by tomorrow to have the rotisserie chicken lunch special.

This is right around the corner from the more obvious restaurants in Young Circle. Whether you call this Peruvian or Andean cuisine, it is delicious and I will definitely return! The feasting began with Peruvian corn on the cob that comes with a hot and spicy cheese sauce. Mmm, the spicy cheese sauce is awesome. I could imagine using it on everything. Peruvian corn has huge Corn-nuts sized kernels, not the wimpy little ones you find in the US. There are a dozen or more versions of cooked bird and fish on the menu. The fried rice has a nice peppered flavor, the onions on the fried fish are fresh and laced with lemon. The fish are lightly battered and super tender. The chicken is also tender, although one was a bit dry towards center. The black beans are thin but fresh and very soft — melt in your mouth. Oh, and a pitcher of Chicha(fermented purple maize) is the best way to wash it all down. Tastes more like sweet pineapple than corn. With a little seltzer it could be the best spritzer ever. Toss in a little rum or vodka and you’ve got a party on your hands. Perhaps most interesting part, aside from the fresh and delicious tastes, was that the entire neighborhood police force was eating there too. Just stop by Goyo if you want to know the time in Hollywood to speed. It started out with just a couple officers, but pretty soon three tables were attached and eight of Hollywood’s finest were talking up some pretty funny cases. Did you hear the one about that white guy with the Arizona license plates? They were having a great time and I noticed they all were drinking water. I ordered a water too at that point and sure enough, even the water is delicious. I used to have a theory that a police cruiser parked near a restaurant(let alone four) was a sure fire way to find excellent food at bargain prices… with Goyo the theory holds true.
