I’ve eaten here a few times. I got the BBQ chicken and mashed potatoes this last time I was there. I like the overall feel of the place when you walk in. It’s very homey. If you’re looking for a great Mom and Popp spot, this place is it Usually there isn’t a big crowd, or at least when I’ve gone in there hasn’t been. The wait staff is always friendly. They say hi when we walk in and bring a round of waters out as soon as we sit down. They’re always willing to answer any questions and give recommendations if you ask about the menu. Our food always comes out fast and has always been prepared nicely. Waitresses always made sure my water was full and were very quick to get empty plates off the table. Their food is delicious! I’ve ordered something different every time I’ve been there and the chef nor the wait staff has ever disappointed me. I’ll try the omelet next time I’m there. Friend of mine wouldn’t shut up about how delicious they are.

Checked this place out as a «hidden gem» of LA when bringing my granddaughter to Children’s Hospital LA for a test. The food is very good and the service was terrific. The place is part of the Dunes Inn motor hotel right on Sunset and offers a great alternative to the usual chain outlets that tend to be on every other corner. The food is standard«american fare» from omelettes and egg dishes for breakfast to sandwiches and salads for lunch and dinner. I ordered the San Francisco omelette and it was superb. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for something more«mom and pop» than chain restaurant.

My new apartment is a few blocks away, so we walked over for breakfast after moving my stuff in. Other breakfast joints in the area had not-so-favorable reviews here on Unilocal,so we decided to give it a try. We were so pleasantly surprised! This place is pretty modest on the inside, but it has an old-school diner feel so it doesn’t matter so much. Good selection on the menu for both breakfast and lunch/dinner, and it couldn’t be more fairly priced — we spent less than $ 25 for the two of us, which is ridiculously cheap for the area. Right before we got our food, the manager John came and sat down at the table next to us and ordered breakfast as well. We got to talking to him, and he was very interesting, telling us about the history of the place. He built it 40 years ago, and it still stands in the same place. A hidden gem of the neighborhood!

Came to this place bc it’s 3 blocks from UCB Sunset and wanted to get a bite before the show. It’s the restaurant for a motel and has a super old school vibe. It wasn’t busy at all, being a strange time we came in, and really enjoyed the typical LA diner food(grilled cheese, quesadilla, cheese sticks). We returned for the same reason a few weeks later and sat in the back bar area, letting them know we needed to leave quickly and they were helpful. I’m a huge fan of a super relaxed place in a neighborhood like this, which is all chain places and fast food.

I was drawn to nightmares café and bar for the 18% off and to grab a beer or two on happy hour. I get in there and it’s empty with daytime television in the«bar.» This place was as expensive as any respectable restaurant– except they weren’t a respectable establishment! There is no happy hour and the fries I ordered weren’t cooked, hardly at all. This place is a true dive. Not the ironically cool dive bars, but a crap hole.

Checked this place out on a Wednesday night because I had a gift certificate. Walked in and it was empty which at first can seem like a bad sign. To my surprise the food was REALLY good. From the super crispy wings, to my main dish everything was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because usually a diner will have«okay» food. This place had, as I’ll say again, really good food. Service was really fast although we were the only ones there. Definitely will hit this spot again. Update: I’ve been here two more times since my first visit and I remain surprised at their ability to deliver on super bomb entrees! They haven’t let me down yet. The garlic bread is amazing! Do try

We live around the corner and have always wanted to stop in for a drink. I guess we could have lived if we hadn’t. The bar is in the back and you enter from the rear. The was a guy standing outside of his motel room smoking a joint. Once inside no music bright lights albeit pink lights. The bartender had to use a recipe book to make a Manhattan. And then he disappeared. He did leave a basket of very good popcorn though. We finished our drink and split to find Mr Stand outside of your motel room smoking another joint.

I went to Dreams Café and Bar on September 16 of this year, and wish I could have my money and time back. The food was terrible and so was my experience. I went with my mother after needing a break from cleaning my house. We were thirsty, hungry, and very tired. When we went in I asked the server for a diet coke and my mother asked for an iced tea. The diet coke was flat and the iced tea didn’t taste fresh but we didn’t complain. When he took our drink order, he also took our food order and there was ONE other table in the restaurant. I’m not exaggerating when I say that was the only time we saw him the hour we were there, except for the time I had to get up(I hate doing this because it’s rude) and let my server know that he got my order wrong. He didn’t even turn around. The bus boy next to him – who was very nice – took my plate and then the server roughly placed it down. After a few minutes, the bus boy/cook came back with my food. I guess he was doing everything that day. The food tasted terrible and like it was cooked in a DIRTY pan. I was very disappointed and so was my mother. Her corn beef sandwich was disgusting but we ate the food anyway because we were starving. When I wanted a refill no one was around. At the point, numerous people were getting up and asking for help. I finally got the bus boy’s attention and he got a refill for me. I was so thirty I kept drinking the flat diet coke. After another forty minutes of not seeing the server, I finally got up and asked for a check. It came to a little over $ 26 dollars. And when he finally came with the bill he said, «Sorry, I had to cook and serve because someone didn’t show up.» My question is: Why should I have to suffer? And why wasn’t anything taken off the bill after we were served bad food/drinks, and had a terrible experience? We didn’t bother complaining and said it’s okay, but I was upset. I still tipped him because I used to serve, but it wasn’t cool. That’s why a little over a week later, I called. I spoke with a woman over the phone and said, «Hey, is your manager in? I had a terrible experience and want to touch base with him or her.» Her response wasn’t sorry or anything like that. She just said, «He’s(Noah) only in Monday-Friday. You can call then.» I said I would. The staff clearly doesn’t care. It’s a shame my mother and I had to eat terrible food and have such a bad experience. I would NOT suggest going here ATALL. Seriously. If someone had come over and asked us how everything was and maybe took something off the check(or cared at all), I wouldn’t be writing this. However, no one deserves this kind of experience. Don’t waste your time!

I’ve lived just up the street from this place for 3 and a half years now and never realized it was there until a friend pointed it out. What a find! Im always on the hunt for the low key diner experience and this is definitely the new go-to for a straightforward classic, greasy American breakfast. We met the owner and his crew of regulars and they couldnt have been more funny/welcoming. They get a lot of European travelers in there and are curious to hear everyone’s story. By the time I left I felt like I’d been going there for years. The other secret here is the bar, can’t wait to go back and check that out as it looks like a rad place to keep in mind.

This place flies completely under the radar. It is a hotel café & bar — great people, good food and the coolest hidden and I am sure under-appreciated bar I have yet to find in Los Angeles. We are planning a group get together there soon — it is just right for a small private party, game night, or what have you. Can’t beat the service and great, fairly priced diner fare.

you get 10% off if you stay at the inn next door with a $ 2 delivery charge if you are too tired to walk for a pick up. looks like the den-like bar area is the spot to be at. came for soup during the afternoon and had take out another time. the food was average for a diner/café but the portion was generous for the baked lasagna and salad. it’s probably one of the more affordable places to eat in the area if you just want some quick grub.

This place has a nice diner feel to it. I had the beef kabob, which comes with a pita and peppers. Very tasty. I also had a brownie and eggs benedict for breakfast. All the food was delicious. The waitresses were very friendly and nice! This place has a bar in the back where there’s free comedy certain nights. I would definitely come again!

Nice clean café, decent food. The real draw of this place is the hidden bar in the back. It has an awesome 70s vibe, like an old den or basement. Bottle beers, some wine and liquor. Old beer signs and an ancient jukebox turned karaōke machine. Super comfy lounge chairs. This is a great place to spread out, have a beer, eat some good Midwestern food and watch tv. I guess they have a comedy show here on Wednesdays. Everything in this place, even the bathrooms and the pudding parfaits in the display case– all awesome. The owners are great. Check this place out, the bar is totally worth it.
