$ 5.00 you literally get a plate full of food + large cup of pink lemonade. Spicy, delicious jerk chicken + rice and beans + greens + festival

Oh my gosh, this food was so so good! We called in our order and picked it up. Don’t be discouraged by the small house look. The counter guy was very friendly. We had the brown stew chicken and the jerk pork. Both dinners came w/rice and peas and a warm slaw salad. BSC was exactly what I was craving– warm, comforting and awesome flavor. Rice and peas were spot on. Even the veggie slaw salad was full of crunch and texture and complemented the plate well. The jerk pork tho, was on a whole other level. If you like spicy food, this is a MUSTGET! Smokey, porky, jerky deliciousness. The housemade lemonade was surprisingly good. I liked it ice cold and a little watered down. This was our first time trying the place and we will 100% be going back.

Caribbean food happens to be among my favorite and I try to eat it whenever I can. Popped into Captain Jerk on a recent afternoon for some spicy eats. The ‘Captain’ greeted us warmly as I looked over the menu. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but has a bar with some stools and a couple of tables for dining in. I usually go between the jerk chicken and the curry chicken and today was a curry day. The curry chicken had good flavor and was still nice and juicy. The rice and peas and plantains were also tasty. The portion size was just right and I left with a full belly of Caribbean goodness. I eat at a lot of places offering similar menu items and the Captain’s offerings are right up there with the best, with a fair price. I shall be back.

Great Jamaican take out/sit down spot. Was recommended by a local and we stopped by during the lunch hour. Was looking for some real, authentic Jamaican food and this didn’t disappoint. Got the jerk pork and it was very good. Checked out the jerk chicken and it looked great. The cook as nice and courteous and the food came out without much of a wait. One can tell they cook on a grill outdoors from the scent in the air as you approach and, apparently in the back, behind the fence, you’ve got a hang out spot at night. Could spruce up the place a bit but still a well-deserved Thumbs Up ~

Best jerk I’ve ever had! You must go. After careful deliberation I had the jerk pork. Delicious. Next time the chicken and at lunch time because they have great prices.

So I tried this place for the first today and I was extremely disappointed. I had the brown stew chicken and rice and peas not good. First the rice was not fresh meaning it was not made day of service and the chicken also. If I go back in the future I will be trying trying something else with white rice. Just my opinion.

Ordered a pound of jerk chicken here just to try the food, I can definitely say this place has got some good food! When I stopped in the captain was by himself, not sure if this is the norm but took about 10 mins to be helped with only one person in front of me waiting. The lemonade is homemade, and definitely a very good accompaniment with the food.

Good good good food! We flew in from Dallas to visit family and trusted Unilocal to take us to a good spot for some Jamaican food. I got the curry goat and my husband had jerk pork. The food was wonderful and the staff was a joy. Our one year old daughter made a MESS and they told us not to worry they would take care of it. I know that’s how most places run but this place is small and I felt horrible about the rice she spilled while eating. Again the staff stepped right up and said not to worry. Great food, great staff. Nothing left to say!

Delicious food and friendly service! Goat curry was tender and flavorful, with big chunks of meat. The jerk chicken was also delicious, even the side vegetables were fresh and crunchy. Thumbs up all the way! P. s. Google mistakenly claims the business is closed so don’t pay attention to it.

Jerk Chicken was amazing. Flavor was great! We’ve been to Jamaica quite often and the food and service was very authentic. Would highly recommend if your looking for a Caribbean flavor.

I just tried this place for the first time since I was in the area. I usually go to the Rustic Inn for crabs, Sardelli in Hollywood for fine Italian, and Rice Bowl in Ft Lauderdale for Jamaican which even after new management several years ago is still very good. BUT now, this is my «go to» Jamaican place! If you love jerk, there’s not a better place I can assure you. I’ve tried jerk chicken all over south Florida and Atlanta and none comes even close to Captain Jerk! Excellent flavor with the perfect spice throughout the chicken yet very succulent and juicy. I don’t know how the owner does it! Maybe it’s cooked very slowly. Anyway, other places are good but tend to be dry across the board. Their menu has several other items which I’ll have to try but right now I can tell you you’d be hard pressed to find better jerk on the planet!

Was in the neighborhood and saw this unique spot so pulled up the reviews, and Erik convinced me to stop in. Had the BBQ chicken lunch special and it was delicious. Definitely a homemade sauce. The Captain is friendly and gave me some homemade lemonade, also great! My only complaint was that the cabbage portion was do delicious and the portion was too small, I could have eaten a large bowl of that alone!

Jerk chicken is not bad, but not hot enough. I asked for some ketchup or jerk gravy and did not get it. I asked for some hardo bread with the jerk instead of the rice, was not bad, but altogether I had jerk chicken with no gravy or ketchup, that is not how it is eaten in Jamaica. the portiion was a little small for the price.

We also were driving through from the Miami airport on our way to West Palm. It was late so we weren’t sure what we would find to eat. Captain Jerk was beyond our expectations! We had Jerk chicken and Oxtail. Both excellent. Staff very friendly, great service! Definitely will go again and highly recommend.

While passing through on the nearby Florida Turnpike, I was compelled to stop by Captain Jerk, for all the obvious reasons. Captain Jerk ended up having the best $ 4.99 lunch special I’ve ever had — AND the Jerk Chicken and Stew Chicken we had was as good as, if not much better than, what we ate at many of the places we visited while we were in Jamaica the following week. Captain Jerk has a nice staff. Unfortunately, Captain Jerk was not in at that time, so we couldn’t have the intended meeting of the great minds. The only reason I can’t give Captain Jerk 5 stars is that it’s basically a lunch counter with a couple creaky tables. But if I lived around there I know I’d be there a lot more often. And if I’m in the neighborhood again, I’ll definitely stop by and meet up with The Captain. I’ve recommended that the Miami chapter of my fun running group stuff themselves with Captain Jerk. Apparently the place has a patio and yard for events, and they do serve Red Stripe. On~On, sez CJ.
