When you’re traveling through, or on your way to somewhere else and wish you had a book to take along, but you don’t want to drive miles and fight the crowds to do it, Past Tense Books might be just the place. It’s a nice little bookshop when you’re in downtown Holly. While some used bookstores have books serving as the décor, Past Tense puts a focus on nice bookshelves and subdued lighting to showcase the books themselves. It’s a different spin, but no less effective. Although there are many books in various categories, there are just enough to fill the shelves without spilling over. It must be planned that way, as there are a couple of signs posted indicating Past Tense is not currently accepting any books. The room in the back, with young adult and children’s books has a couple of bean bag chairs to let the kids sit down and read while the adults take the time to peruse the rest of the store. It’s a workable setup for ensuring everyone gets a chance to find just the right reading material for the car ride, the vacation, or the day at the lake.
