Love the goodwill. All the money goes to a good cause. And helps lots of people. And if you’re eligible for a tax break you can write it off, too bad I can’t

I love Goodwill. Our Hollister location how ever is terrible. The prices are ridiculous. Super expense for crap furniture. Everything is marked way to high. I understand needing to make a profit to run the store but lets be realistic due to the fact that everything has been donated! Go to Pats or Hazels downtown. Neat finds for great prices.

Love this Goodwill store. I was an occasional Goodwill shopper until I discovered this store. It’s kept pretty clean, the items are sorted out well and the staff is really helpful. When I pouted to(I’m guessing) the manager that I couldn’t find a coordinating top for the skirt I’d just purchased, he called for someone to bring out the rack of items they had JUST prepared that hadn’t made it to the racks yet. All so I could take one last look before leaving the store. Pretty cool! The staff is always helpful and I do enjoy seeing the occasional items from Macy’s with the tags still on them. And, on a side note, they have the radio tuned to a pretty good station which makes the experience even better. Love getting compliments on my brand name outfits and telling folks I got it at «the ‘Will».

I have shopped at the Hollister Goodwill for over 10 years. I go there at least once a week. I love it. The staff work hard, are helpful when you need them, and don’t make you feel like you’re doing something wrong when you take your time to shop. I don’t have a problem with the fact that some of the merchandise came from Target. It’s still cheaper than buying new. By the way, I do shop occasionally at the Goodwill in Watsonville and the one in Monterey. The staff there are pleasant but I find them much less well stocked and less likely to be helpful if you’re looking for something specific. So, thank goodness for Hollister Goodwill. They make my day!

I absolutely love Goodwill stores, however, this one should be shut down. Every time I come in here I am just shocked on how much they charge for clearanced Target items. True story: I was saw a pair of boots in this store for $ 15. I went online to and found the exact same pair for $ 8 cheaper still on clearance. Enough said about that They love to buy items and hike up the price up 3x. Not a fan especially of their stained up shirts that they describe as «gently used» When I think of «gently used» merchandise a little fading comes to mind not a huge nasty yellow stain on the front, just sayin.

I have mixed feelings about this Goodwill. As Halloween is coming up, I have seen most Goodwill stores in the Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Francisco as well as the Santa Clara area get lots of costumes and accessories in stock around this time. But last Saturday, I went to this Goodwill to shop and just saw two small aisles of costumes and mostly resale accessories from Target for sale. I would say the Halloween stock only suppresses the Goodwill in Morgan Hill which hardly has anything at all Halloween oriented for sale. And, I should know, I have shopped at pretty much all Goodwill stores in Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Benito, and the Bay Area including San Francisco over the years. I generally know which Goodwill stores gets the best stock of particular merchandise. Anyhow, it appears that half of the merchandise for sale here is used and the rest is resale rejects from Target. The fact that they get half of their items from Target should not be so bad if only they still priced these goods as used thrift shop items. I am not coming into a thrift shop and expect to pay outlet or consignment store prices for anything. I come to a Goodwill in search for bargains after all, even if the item was originally new or used I expect to pay a fair and logical price. If I wanted to pay more then 40% of the item’s original value, I would not be going to a thrift store in the first place. Now for the good aspects regarding this Goodwill. There are bargains to be found as long as you are willing to search for them. I found four xxl Tommy Behama silk shirts for men at $ 5.50 each and in perfectly new condition. If you have ever been to some of those clothing stores in Carmel, CA. then you would know how much these type of shirts sell for. In such clothing stores, you expect to pay around $ 60 for one of these brand shirts! There were actually two more of these shirts that I left behind for some other shrewd thrift shopper to discover, that is, if they are still there. Also, I like that they do not overly price the vintage clothing just because Halloween is coming up. Many Goodwill stores are including vintage clothing along with the Halloween costumes. They consider the vintage clothing as Halloween items and price them high during this season. It can get ridiculously expensive. But then, you can find some unusual finds at this time as well that you could wear all year long not just for Halloween. Anyhow, this Goodwill has much vintage clothing but they are priced just like any other clothing of its type. This I think is fair and is the way it should be. The staff who work at this Goodwill are very nice and helpful. I found a vest that I thought about getting but it had no price on it. Apparently, the tag was torn off. This occurs often at Goodwill stores as when customers do not like a price of an item or/and plan to come back for it later, they tear the tags off probably in hopes that they can get the item for a cheaper price. Luckily, most thrift shops now mark items with codes so that the clerks can identify the price of items if such a problem occurs. Anyhow, I asked a clerk about the price of the vest. He told me that in most cases they cannot sell the item and it has to go back to management to be repriced. But, he told me that he would check to see. He came back to tell me that the vest was $ 6. I did not end up buying the vest as it was too small for me but I appreciate his help. Overall, this Goodwill has bargains as long as you are willing to spend time to search for them. For seasonal items, I would suggest shopping at other Goodwill stores instead of this one. If you are expecting this Goodwill to consist of only used items, you will be disappointed. Only about half of this Goodwill has used merchandise. The resale merchandise comes from Target. These are mostly rejects, overstock and simply items that were for sale at Target once that nobody wanted. The staff are very nice and helpful here, that alone is a good reason to come back to this Goodwill. But also the fact that if you search hard enough, you will find worthwhile treasures here. Pros: –bargains can be found here –vintage clothing priced cheap even before Halloween –clerks are very helpful Cons: –this store does not get much in seasonal merchandise –some used or new merchandise can be overpriced

Before writing a review I like to visit a store a few times just because we all have bad days now and then. After five visits I have to say they have had some real cool vintage items but damn, I can’t hardly afford to look at them let alone buy them. It’s suppose to be a thrift store you know where you can purchase mostly used items at bargain prices not consignment store prices, wake up!

I have had mixed feeling about this place. I was glad to hear they were bringing one to town and applied for a job when they opened. I didn’t get one then, but would several years later, only to lose it over management conflict. Before then, however, I worked at the Dollar Tree(which opened around the same time) and often before, after, and while on break from work would wander into the Goodwill. I loved how they had once had a rug on the floor and the book kiosks. I’d often kneel down to look at the books. I was sad when they removed these book stands. Even more sad when the removed all the donated stuff in favor of Target rejects. This was when I worked there. My boss got mad at me for saying the stuff was from Target, but it’s not like the customers wouldn’t notice the Target logo on some of the stuff! I did not see what the big deal was! After getting fired, I was reluctant to go into the store at first, but eventually began going again. I go often, but lately they seem to have the same stuff all the time. Nothing noticeably new. Will sometimes find some book or clothing I like. All in all, an OK place to go just to browse.
My honest opinion ..

I have visited this Goodwill 1−2x a week for the last 4+ years. I have noticed a very steady increase :(you have to really watch the prices or you can get ripped off. Like the other reviewers said, you mostly find Target rejects lol. I don’t mind, but once again, watch the prices!

I love this thrift store. It’s definitely cheaper than other Goodwill’s but there are those times some things are priced ridiculously high for what they are. If you have a good eye you can find really great things here.

Love to see the Target rejects!!! Like a previous rater stated, prices are sometimes high for the item. Once I saw an item from the Dollar Tree there, selling for 3 bucks. Be careful. My lucky Target reject finds: Coffee table, bar stools, stainless trash can, and outdoor accessories.

I’m a recent college graduate who needed some business casual clothes for an internship I’m doing. Seeing that I’m completely broke, I decided on a whim to check out this Goodwill to see if I could get lucky getting some staple clothing items for a good deal. I was pleasantly surprised at what I found after an hour of browsing — I found two Express slacks and two Banana Republic collared shirts that fit me perfectly. Prices were reasonable, although they could have been a little lower($ 7 – 8 per item). Seeing that the clothes I got were in excellent condition, brand name, and fit me perfectly — I have no complaints. Now I’m going to look professional at my internship, and no one needs to know. where I shopped. :)

This Goodwill sucks. People can’t donate stuff to this store anymore. Only a business can donate here as a tax write off. Goodwill is suppose to be about finding hidden treasures that were donated from some well off folks and getting a great deal. You won’t find any of that at this location. When they do have sales here though the stuff is CHEAP. But again it’s some cheap rejected crap from a chain store that should be near free anyway.
