Great place to have Breakfast at least once a week! The meal was absolutely delicious!

In short: 5 for service and atmosphere, 2 for food. I really wanted to like this place. I really did have a pleasant brunch with my family. The people at this restaurant were the star. It seems like a small, family run place. Everyone from the busboys to the owner were super friendly. The atmosphere is also great, in my opinion, for what the restaurant is. Very country but not in an old and dusty way. And they’ve shoved a lot of tables in a small space, but it didn’t feel crowded at our table. Now the bad news: the food wasn’t great. It wasn’t terrible, certainly edible, but I’m not going to review this any different than I would a brunch place in San Francisco just because it’s in Hollister. I ordered the California Works — a sort of hash made with eggs scrambled throughout. They have many«works» on the menu; mine had bacon, spinach, and avocado. Oh, wait. No avocado. Hm. I probably should have asked for a side of it, but I didn’t. It was OK, but the eggs were pretty overcooked. On the bright side, I asked for them to add jalapenos and they accommodated me. I was pretty happy they were pickled jalapeño slices, since I have a weakness for those, but many might expect fresh jalapenos. It came with hash browns and two(!) biscuits on the side. It was a lot of food. Unfortunately, the hash browns were mediocre(they weren’t browned or crispy) and the biscuits were, well, not good. They were dense and kind of cakey, not flaky at all. My kids had scrambled eggs that were overcooked as well, though not as much as mine. They and my wife had french toast, which did seem to be fine. In fact, my wife says that it was less sweet than diner french toast usually is, and she liked that quite a bit. To top it all off, the coffee is bad, even for diner standards. I resorted to a flavored creamer to mask the bad aftertaste. I know, I should have just put it down and got a coffee afterward somewhere else. I have this tendency to eat everything on my plate even if it’s not good. I should do something about that. These people are really lovely. I hope they improve their food.

Stopped through here for some breakfast on a road trip from LA to SF. I had the veggie omelette(with ham), and my boyfriend had the country works(biscuits & gravy with egg + sausage patties) — both with potatoes, & toast. Huge portions, great food, decent prices, excellent service! I’d definitely return on another trip.

This is my favorite place to get breakfast in Hollister. You really get that family owned vibe at this cozy restaurant! The food is so so so so delicious. I only wish they were open 24 hours(Heheheh) Get in before they close !

My friend and I dropped in mid morning– both wound up ordering the Eggs Benedict. We were really pleased they didn’t hesitate to sub pancakes instead of the standard potatoes(which are really good– had ‘em before). Food was nice and hot with good portion size. Service was prompt and attentive, the table and chairs clean. The check got there right as we finished– not hurrying us but also setting us up to go is we had needed to(nice). Can’t go wrong here, can get busy during peak meal times because it is a popular place.

It’s been years since I have been here. Well nothing has changed. The service and food top notch. I had the usual, Cajun scramble, super yummy, comes with three eggs, potatoes, Cajun sausage sour cream, avocado and cheese. We also had the club Sandwich on a croissant and frys, yummy Sandwich and ton of fries! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Recently decided to eat here based on all the positive reviews. For the positives I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was amazing. From the second I walked in I felt welcomed. I could tell that they really cared about the customers walking in the door. Unfortunately that doesn’t transfer into the kitchen. I ordered the biscuit and gravy with hash browns and scrabbled eggs. The gravy was straight out of the package the kind you can buy at the grocery store and«just add water» the biscuit was chewy as if it was previously cooked then warmed in a microwave. The eggs and hash browns were fine no real complaints there. Overall the meal wasn’t just wasn’t fresh. Maybe this was an off day however I’m not too likely to give it another try.

We were hungry and looked on Unilocal for places to eat breakfast in Hollister. Most of the reviews were great so thought we’d give it a try. This was by far one of the best breakfasts we’ve had. My husband had the tri tip and eggs and I had the Castroville scramble. The tri tip was so tender. The ham in the Castroville scramble was some of the best I’ve had. The potatoes were new red potatoes with the skin on, sliced and fried to perfection. The waitress was always ready to refill our coffee, which was also very good. We will be stopping here again next time we are in the area.

This place doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Best breakfast in town by far. Service and food were great and the place is very comfortable.

Nice little gem of a resraurant in Hollister, CA with good food and great service. I ordered salmon and egg scramble listed on their morning specials. Served with spinach, onions, and a load of salmon it was fresh and delicious! Ordered blueberry pancakes on the side(no charge!) and they made a nice addition to my meal. Our other plate was chicken fried steak, eggs over easy, and potatoes. Gravy was tasty, steak was tender, and the potatoes rocked! Both plates were large portions, we did our best, but couldnt finish. The coffee is a strong dark blend… just what we needed for an early morning start. Wait staff is friendly, and welcoming. We’ll be back.

Typical sweet and attentive customer service I’ve come to expect from all Hollister restaurants. Had the San Francisco scramble– so simple but somehow absolutely delicious! Their coffee is top notch. Pancakes are really good especially with the extra thick syrup they offer. It’s a small venue and is un– impressive from the outside but clean with quaint decorations and excellent food inside!

I love their scrambled egg mess called the«works». It has scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, bacon, cheese and is topped with sour cream and avocado wedges. Easily shared by two people. The dining room is small and there is almost always a wait. Do not expect a quiet intimate breakfast here — the tables are on top of one another. Plus everyone knows everyone in here. Service is fast and friendly. The wait is never too long. A consistent winner for breakfast or lunch(though I think that breakfasts are their strong suit). Servings are large and the prices reasonable. Dress is casual. Street parking only — parking can get tight if the nearby courthouse is in session.

The Cozy Cup Café was definitely cozy — packed on this particular Saturday morning — the sign of a great café. I was alone and had no wait to sit. I ordered the chiliquiles. The flavor was awesome! However there were a couple of things I noted. The salsa verde was cold which in turn cooled off my eggs, the avocado slices were not ripe leaving them a tad flavorless and the cheese sprinkled on top didn’t melt, I’m sure because of the cold salsa — but again I’ll say — the flavor was great. Next time I stop in(yes there will definitely be a next time!) I will order them again and I’m sure they will be perfect and I will review again and 5 star them ;-)

Yummy food, big portions, great price, and good service! Cozy cup says it all! I just wish there were more seats, that way they could share their food with more people at a time! Pick this place over Ding-A-Ling and Rose Café!!! You won’t regret it!

Excellent for breakfast and lunch! I’d give it 5 stars if they had a decent bathroom inside. Love the steak salad. It’s a little pricey for lunch but there’s a LOT to it.

Went this morning for breakfast — got biscuit with sausage patty gravy and potatoes. Holy moly! My favorite potatoes ever, I literally could have eaten a huge tub of them. Everything else was good too! Environment was very welcoming and friendly too.
