I would like to give a 4 star rating for the wait staff. They are always polite and smile. We drive from Morgan Hill to eat here, usually it’s lunch or dinner. Today we went for breakfast, ordered steak and eggs. It took almost 2 hours to get my breakfast. It seems the kitchen staff does not know what a steak looks like. We arrived at 10:15 am and left at 12:00 pm.

First came here as a kid as my family traveled to Los Banos to visit relatives. Haven’t been here in decades until yesterday. Was traveling with my son who wanted to stop and shop. After getting our dried fruits and nuts we stopped in for dinner. We are both vegetarians and almost all the menu is meat. Fortunately all the burgers can have a boca patty substituted for free. He got a patty melt and I got a turkey burger both with boca. Really good food. The pasta salad side was a little dry and the cole slaw side was a bit too sweet. However, we didn’t complain and ate it all up. We got a couple of slices of homemade pie to take home and it was great. The staff is super friendly and attentive, too. Don’t plan on being back in that area in the near future but would def stop there again. Oh, and I miss Eugene the coffee cup flipper.

Unilocal 100 review challenge: 63⁄100 I don’t even know how to rate this place. Service was border line grumpy and to the point. I wouldn’t come back for the food. 1star-clean restroom 2star-booth seating which I like! I asked if the waitress if the tuna melt was good. She said: «Yes it’s really good.» And I really didn’t enjoy at all. It was full of butter, so greasy, but I was super hungry and downed the warm tuna melted in cheese, squished between 2 pieces of greasy toast. I specifically asked about dishes having any meat. Yet the garlic shrimp pasta tasted like it had chicken broth in it. Total turn off with one bite. The sauce would’ve been more desirable if it was a thicker sauce. It looked more on the watery side. Caesar salad-I made sure it didn’t come with any chicken. Waitress verified it didn’t. Out came the salad first. It tasted fresh. The veggie pasta is also one of the sides which was close enough to good. The lemonade and Dr. Pepper were on point. I was surprised to see a lot of people in here. I scanned through the Unilocal reviews and noticed a few Unilocal buddies liking this place. I did have it bookmarked. But never again. If I do come back, it will be to bring my future kids to the carousel, or train ride behind the restaurant. But, that’s it. *sigh* Private parking!

My husband and I went to Casa De restaurant over the weekend with our son. We just recently found out that our son has a severe nut allergy so we get nervous taking him out. We were very lucky to get the waitress Jennifer who also has a nut allergy so she was very friendly and understanding of our concerns and made sure nothing had peanuts from the kitchen and when we ordered dessert and she made sure there was no contamination. We ordered the kobe burger and the kids cheese pizza, both of which were very tasty! We will definitely be back! Great food and great service!

Coffee shop with standard American menu. Food is all right, and filling. Very crispy fried chicken.(Waitress double-checked: I did want the fried chicken and not the chicken fried steak.) Besides the types of potato listed on the menu, they also have rice(actually a rice-wild rice mix) for a side, which wins a lot of points from me.

Our first time stopping for the restaurant as we usually just go to the store for fresh foods on our travels. It was a last lunch on Easter Sunday and the wait and service weren’t unreasonable for such a busy day but the food was lackluster… I got the corned beef hash breakfast with fruit instead of eggs and toast. The hash was made like a patty so it was only browned on the outside, not on all of it so it tasted unfinished. The toast didn’t have much taste for sourdough but the fruit was okay. I also tried a slice of apricot pie and the filling was okay but the crust was nothing special. I had one quarter of my son’s club sandwich and it was better than my meal so there might be hope…

Omg Debbie is seriously the sweetest waitress ever. I mean the tri tip sammy was solid too but my experience here was defined by Debbie. Skip the seafood platter but don’t miss the carrot cake.

Everything was great except the food had no flavor. Ordered the 12 oz new york steak $ eggs. No flavor at all. The jelly and the cup of coffee I had were more flavorful than the steak, eggs & hash browns I had. Besides that, the place was clean and service was good.

I hate to write a bad review because I really enjoy eating here, not tonight unfortunately. Service was terrible. As soon as we walked in we were informed that they were on a short menu for some reason only certain items were available. Got lucky they had my gf chicken Cesar salad. She said it was good, my cheeseburger was good also. This revue is basically for the service provided. The waitress took our order and went and sat in the back with 4 other coworkers + the chef who she informed they had an order and he went back to make our food. The food came out our waitress asked if we needed anything else we said no, she left and was never seen back at our table until I had to wave her down for our check, we never got a drink refill or checked on at all during our meal. I understand it’s on hwy152 and they probably have a lot of down time but when customers are there I don’t see the need for an employee gathering in the back of the restaurant while the customers are left alone with no one waiting on them, I hope management looks into this, it will bring nothing good. I’ve attached a photo of what I’m talking about. I hope service improves soon . *****The owner contacted me three days later and apologized for the bad service. She sounded really sincere and I felt bad but she was thankful I wrote the review and let her know about the bad service. Will be back soon.

Since everyone seemed to be heading to Monterey tonight and it was a parking lot on south 101, my husband and I decided to detour to Casa de Fruta. My husband loves diner food so he was quite happy to come here. We had great service, friendly waitstaff, and our food came out quickly. We ordered mozzarella sticks for appetizer, I ordered the cobb salad, and my husband had the prime rib with mashed potatoes. The cobb salad was awesome and the mozzarella sticks yummy, but my husband thought his prime rib ok.

My boyfriend and I finally got to try this restaurant out after many months of waiting(for our road trip), and we were very happy with our experience. You can find your typical diner food here, with a few exceptions here and there. My boyfriend went straight to the breakfast menu for a chicken fried steak, and I heard no complaints from him. Typically I would be there with him, but this time I wanted to try something else. So, I opted for the lasagna, which came with a side of soup or salad and garlic bread. I got the soup of the day, which was cream of potato, and I also ordered an apple cider. The soup was brought out first, and I quickly scarfed it down and awaited my lasagna, oddly not feeling too full to finish everything. Then the lasagna came out, and I realized my eyes were indeed bigger than my stomach. After eating the garlic bread and half of the lasagna, I couldn’t eat any more. The soup and bread were decent, but the lasagna was really delicious. I wish I could have eaten more of it! The apple cider was surprisingly good as well, and I find myself craving it as I write this review. Honestly, I see myself eating here every time I take a trip south. Our server was terribly sweet as well, and it just completed the experience. See ya in a few months!

Not worthy of one star Dirty bathrooms, food wasn’t good at all they messed up on my son’s hamburger it was rare. Very unsanitary I guess health inspector needs to visit this establishment. I was surprised as the Casa de Deli wasn’t dirty at all. The bathroom experience wrecked my appetite. There should be a cleaning crew checking on the bathroom periodically I will definitely not return. I had feces on my shoes! Management you should be ashamed of yourselves. Employees share the same restrooms therefore they are tracking feces all over the restaurant! Yuck!!! ewww!!! Stay away!

brightly lit of the holidays… a stop for weary travelers between the 5 and 101 stretch… basic diner menu. nice soft warm loaf of bread and butter complimentary… reuben $ 8.95 and decent… basic toasty sliced bread and hot pastrami tasty… nothing fancy and fries golden fine… bacado(bacon avocado) burger $ 9.95 large and a mouthful… finding the burger overcooked extremely dry and hard… skip the burgers… the chicken fried steak $ 12.45 decent…2 slabs of battered steak tender and smothered in sauce… side salad selection okay… basic food and roughly $ 14 per person paying…

A late night bathroom stop ended up becoming a walk around Casa de Fruta. We bought some candy from the store and walked outside, noticing the restaurant. We were hungry and had a long drive ahead of us. This place is great! Some pluses are that it’s open 24 hrs, 7 days a week including holidays! We were greeted by the manager(male) but he wasn’t very friendly. He didn’t even bother to show us the holiday menu. We wanted some food to go, so looking at the menu we had questions. A few minutes later, Mary greeted us with cheerfulness and a warm smile. She gave us the other menus and answered all of our questions with enthusiasm. You couldn’t help but feel the warm holiday spirit glowing from her. We ordered the sampler which came with 5 calamari fries, 4 mozzarella sticks, 3 chicken strips and about 8 onion rings. The sauces we got were cocktail, ranch & bbq. I do have to point out that Mary packaged our to go sampler really well. She put the sauces in cups with lids and then placed all 3 inside an to go box as well. That was really cool IMO because we were on the go and had to eat while driving. The ambiance is warm, inviting. We didn’t interact with anyone else on the staff but Mary was so kind. She gave great customer service and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. At 9:30pm, that’s appreciated. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and when most are in a rush, she makes you feel at home. We shall be back. Their menu has a few other items on it that we’d like to try. How did the sampler taste you ask? Delicious! I am really picky about chicken strips but these were crispy and tasty. Bbq sauce was yummy and Ranch dressing has a good homemade flavoring. Will says the calamari fries are good but we both agree the onion rings are awesome! Mozzarella sticks do have a blandy type of texture but they were good with the sauces. Not a bad place to try when you’re hungry.

The restaurant is located right in the front. It was easy to find a parking in front of the restaurant. The place wasn’t that busy and there was no wait. We orders the kids Mac and Cheese with fries, half turkey sandwich and salad and a veggie omelet. The Mac and Cheese seemed like the Kraft instant stuff. My salad was so so as it seemed like the bagged salad. The turkey sandwich had a bit too much mayo but was ok. The service was average and they didn’t even bring out condiments such as butter or jam for the bread until we asked. The omelet was ok but the downside was the egg shells we found in the omelet. There aren’t much veggie options here.
