Before this Walgreens opened, the nearest drug store was in Shallotte, about a 15 – 20 minute drive from Holden Beach.
Sure, the Food Lion did in a pinch, but it’s much more convenient to have Walgreens nearby, offering a wider selection of basic necessities at lower prices. Recently, all Suave shampoos and conditioners were only $ 1 each. Not bad when you’re stocking a beach house with three bathrooms.
The staff is welcoming and friendly. Every time I’ve shopped, at least one person has greeted me and usually another offers to assist me in finding what I need. I love the personal attention and the customer service.
The only drawback — while a definite improvement over nothing, the store is on the small side and doesn’t have the wide variety of a big city Walgreens. No matter, this drug store is definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood!
