My stay at the Berkshire has been ok! It is a great place to raise children and is close to absolutely everything from Walmart to the xpressway. I simply enjoyed the fireplace. I did have a few minor issues with the place but was able to rectify it immediately. The washer kept acting up on me. I did not like how maintenance came into my apartment without my permission but Management was very apologetic and so was maintenance about my concern of unlawful entry that I had a hard time being upset.

I would like to share my experience at the Berkshires wherein me and my wife stayed there for 3 months.
Starting with getting an apartment for lease with a 3 month period the leasing agent gave us a quote of $ 1200 for an one bedroom apartment which is way higher than any other place. They were willing to give us a proper rate if we would increase the leasing period to a year or more. The kind of dealing that was going on between us was such that i was feeling as if i was getting blackmailed for money towards my need of an apartment.
Anyways, we moved in thinking that its just a matter of 3 months and then we will be out of it. We did inform the office right then and there that we will be leaving the Berkshires by the end of 3 months and don’t have any intentions towards extending our stay at the Berkshires. But during the last 20 days of our stay when we started inquiring about the procedures for returning the keys and handing over the apartment back to them, we were notified that our lease was automatically extended towards a month to month lease where in we had to pay $ 1600 per month.
They told us that we needed to notify them 60 days before we plan to move out, but in our case we already did notify them before 90 days, right when we moved in. The employees were trying to squeeze all the money they can from me by showing me their fraudulent rules and regulations.
After we left the place they took our deposit and on top of that they sent us a bill for cleaning the apartment and carpet cleaning, which was already so clean before we left.

This building was pretty awful. My wife’s passport was stolen by the maintence staff while we lived there. Also the maintence staff would show up even we didn’t ask for them. The account there is awful as well. When I was leaving the building and closing my account I stared the account manager in the eye and asked if there was anything left to pay. She promptly said no and sure enough a month later a bill shows up for water service, gas, and trash removal. Also they claimed I had a $ 21 balance on my account. How could that be there if I paid them during my exit and asked them if there was anything else? This place will try and nickel and dime you to death. Do not move here, it will just leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Based on my dealings with the leasing agent, I am not too much of a fan of this place.
The leasing agent was very pushy. Honestly, if he would have been less pushy I would have been more interested in this place… being pushed into a 15 month lease and told that you have 3 days to think it over or the rates will double is not cool.
The demo units I saw were pretty nice, however the buildings had a very nasty mold smell. Laundry rooms have a very strong mold smell, and seemed to lack maintenance.
