Store stock is great. Some employees are wonderful and if you can’t find what your looking for, chances are they have it online and can order it for you. However, their hours SUCK for being the only decent saddle shop within an hours drive of my barn. However, some of the employees work ethic and social skills are not up to par and something you would find in the bad part of a city. Also, when they say they close at 6 they actually mean 5:45. I once showed up to the store at 5:53. There was no one in the store and when I went to try and open the door I heard a cackling from a car in the parking lot. It was full of Dover employees who thought it was hilarious that I was trying to buy stuff before the posted closing time. I never thought that the Dover employees would behave that way but I guess no one important was around… It is your typical Hockessin store which is a shame, but nothing you can do about it. The only reason I still shop there is because it’s the only saddle store in tax free Delaware within a decent drive. I wrote this about a year ago, hopefully management/staff has changed by now.

The staff is so friendly and helpful without being overbearing. They let you browse and take your time and if you need their help they are happy to assist you. While I was trying on my breeches and lady was trying on boots, and the girl helping her was very knowledgeable and helpful. Their prices are very reasonable and they have a huge selection. I could spend all day(and all my money lol) there!

Dover Saddlery has pretty much everything I need for riding and taking care of my horse. I’ve spent hours looking at their catalogs and website, making wish lists and comparing prices(theirs are very competitive). I finally placed an order online, but I miscalculated some of my sizes. So, I swung by the Hockessin store to see if I could do an in-store return on web purchases. I could, and not only were they completely gracious about it(even though I didn’t have a receipt), but they helped me pick out exactly what I needed for a replacement helmet and a new saddle. Unlike some other saddle shops, I got zero stares or attitude about my tattoos(I certainly don’t look like your average equestrian). The staff were friendly and helpful, and the selection was great. They’re having a huge tent sale this weekend, too, so guess where I’ll be on Saturday?
