I had a very bad evaluation from a therapist that cost me a small fortune. When I complained about her Mardi was concerned so I thought I would give them another shot. I called back to make an appointment and after three days of waiting for a phone call back I found another sensory gym. They finally called back after four days and didn’t even apologize.

I had taken my son to see Marti the owner for occupational therapy. My son improved with her for a time but one day she suddenly decided that she would have her INTERN lead the session! With no warning whatsoever. To add insult to injury, she was checking her email and conversing with her other employees while this was happening. When I approached her about this, she said that she was trying to build her business and«that other parents get it.» While upset about her response, I let it go because my son was getting help and she seemed to understand my concern. So imagine my shock where yet again, she had another intern lead a session again! I was mortified! How upset would you be hearing the therapist you paid for giggling with her employees and checking email on your child’s time? I couldn’t believe that I had another situation like this to deal with and while she apologized, she said that my son’s treatment was in no way lessened. Yeah, not really an apology, right? No explanation of why she ignored my request. When I was hearing yet a THIRD time of her talking with her employees for 10 minutes while my son was being seen by another intern, I just lost it. What was her response? «I run a business and if I need to take a couple minutes to talk to them, then you need to be okay with that.» OMG, what? I’ve owned a business too and I have never, ever disrespected a scheduled client’s time to do any operational business. That I do on my own time. She also would make many observations about my son that were just not true. I didn’t know then how mistaken she was until we met our new OT. Her evaluation skills weren’t accurate and had us doing things that my son simply did not need or had me worried about things that weren’t really our problem. There are so many other incidents that astound me about her but that would make this review too long. The egotism and treating parents like dirt are just not acceptable.(Um, can we say«browbeat» for the choice of school I made for my son?) Now that we’re at a place that is even more skilled with my son and exceptionally professional with handling parents, I now know you can have the total package. Don’t settle for less, parents! Just terrible, terrible.
