Service was slow from the moment we walked in around 9:30am on a Friday morning. I would estimate there were about three other tables getting serviced. The butter doesn’t look or taste like«normal» butter. Hashed Browns were bland. Eggs Benedict were probably the worse I’ve had. The pancakes were just okay. I don’t plan on returning here.

Gluten Free Gets It a 3(Stars) Event: Sunday brunch. Is it too early for flapjacks? Food: More a mixed bag. I had the banana pancakes… which was just normal pancakes topped with slices of banana. I thought perhaps it was mixed into the batter. Pancakes by themselves were not that fluffy and meh, had better at a diner. My wife had gluten free pancakes and really enjoyed them. So mine was a 2, hers was a 4. Bacon was a little under cooked Service: No issues, no problems Bottom line: Because of the gluten free offering we’ll come back again, but i am certainly going to try something different(eggs or french toast)

I had a hair inside my sour cream dip. After being served the food I had to ask for napkins and eating utensils. The chicken was cold, the salad, made from wilted ice-berg lettuce. I came in hungry and left hungry and angry. The waiter smiled and was pleasant and rather clueless of these issues-even when I commented on these shortcomings-no applogy! Skip the place. I should have taken notice that the neighboring food establishments were full and this one was quite empty. Now I can understand why. We were not even done and waiter comes with his clueless smile and hands us the bill. REALLY!

I had ordered The Big Apple Pancakes(added other options like real maple syrup, chocolate chip), the sweet tooth crêpe(added Nutella), and fries. I enjoyed the pancake but I can’t say that I tasted any maple syrup. I was originally looking for crepes since I have bought from another place where they aren’t proper crepes(not thin as they should be). Anyway, I don’t think the crêpe had a lot of chocolate without the additional Nutella. I ate the crêpe the next day since the pancake filled me up. I had warmed up the Nutella and poured it on the cold crêpe and it still tasted delicious to me. The bananas didn’t taste weird and it was a very nice portion. Finally, the fries were good… what else can I say?

Delivery takes 2 hours and they don’t even bother to look in to whats in the order. If you ordered ice cream, I hope you like milk! I can’t believe they gave me an excuse that driver was held up. 1st– if driver is held up, call me before 2 hour passes since I ordered. 2nd– Check if I had anything ordered that should arrive warm or cold(ex: ice cream) 3rd– If something will be melted or colder than it should be, offer to send a new delivery and stop the previous delivery guy from showing up at my door with Ice cream that looks like a water and crêpe that is cold. Stop wasting peoples time and money! Stop embarrassing yourselves!!! Pissed! Learn to run the food business before you get in to it. I never in my life wrote a single bad review !!! EVER!!!

Was walking along Washington Street with a friend and we both got a serious craving for dessert. We had been to Hoboken only a small number of times so didn’t know of anything in the area so just came across this place. We were greeted by a very polite waitress who sat us outside, it was a beautiful day. The menu is quite varied with different types of pancakes, crepes and desserts. We both ordered pancakes with strawberries, bananas and chocolate chips(this was recommended on the menu). The waitress kindly told us it was BYOB so I ran to the next block to a 7-Eleven and got some beer for us(we had been drinking before this at Pier 13, a beer garden nearby). The pancakes were good but not fantastic, they were a bit dry and tasteless but the fruit was fresh. And it is a big meal, I couldn’t finish mine so you do get value for money, they cost around $ 11. Service was excellent, she was very friendly and told us about the area for future reference. Overall, it was OK but didn’t blow me away. To sum it up, after we finished, we came across a Ben & Jerry’s shop two blocks down and I wish we found that first! However BYOB is a major plus. It’s also a BBQ smokehouse and the BYOB would be great for this. Would recommend to try once but nothing spectacular.

Excellent food! Crepes were soo good. Delivery time was great on a busy Mother’s Day morning. Very satisfied. Will be ordering breakfast from here from now on. Before there was only Hudson bagel that would deliver to my address and they’re just awful.

I have been to Stacks several times for breakfast and have enjoyed it every time. It is on the smaller side, but what do you expect in Hoboken. It should be noted that this place can get busy very quick, especially on Sunday, so come early. Whenever i come here the wait time from order your food to getting it on the table is about 10 – 13 minutes, which is reasonable(Clearly it will take longer when busy). In addition, the prices are reasonable for the area. The quality of their breakfast is ok, not bad. I would definitely recommend Stacks to anyone in the area. I would rate Stacks Pancake House & Café as follows: Food is 3 Stars, Service is 3.5 Stars, Price is 3.5 Stars and Wait time is 3.5 Stars. The views expressed are of my own and are my true personal experience at this establishment. My personal experience may not reflect this actual establishment, their quality or someone else’s experience at the establishment.

Unimpressive. Much of the food wasn’t hot yet it took forever to come out. Portions were meh. Sandwich was dry.

The food was really good! We had the combo platter and jersey fries. The ribs and brisket were tender and oh so tasty: The bbq chicken was our least favorite. The only reason I couldn’t give 5 stars is that the service was kinda slow. But the staff was friendly.

This place was alright. Cheap and I like the corn bread they bring out. It was empty and the waitress forgot about us but I got my breakfast rolled up in a pancake which I thought was kind of cool. It was huge and I did not finish this but I could have made it better myself. I had a bite of my friends cheeseburger which I didn’t think was great either. I hadn’t eaten all day so it was perfect for what it was but I wouldn’t come back. Picture looks better than it tasted.

Service was good, but I don’t see any use for the cornbread they give to you as you are greeted– it’s so hard and seems old. I been here twice and it was the same both times. Cornbread should be close to warm, soft not brittle. Omelette was great, though the pancakes were not so good, next time I’ll take the french toast.

My husband and I found this place on a gluten free hunt one random Sunday morning. We were happy to find a restaurant with gluten free options on Washington St because surprisingly there aren’t many! Their only gluten free options were waffles and pancakes so we had one of each. I had the Peach Cobbler pancakes with walnuts(gluten free of course) and it was awesome! Just the right fluff and taste. Added some syrup and a scoop of vanilla ice cream I ordered separately and it was just the right combo! My husband got the Belgium waffles(gluten free as well) — but we weren’t so pleased with that. Definitely could be bigger and softer but all in all not a bad experience. Will definitely be back. Also, the staff was helpful and the outdoor seating is a plus on a warm day.

This is a great and affordable breakfast/brunch option in Hoboken! With family coming to visit with 2 young kids on a Sunday afternoon, I struggled to find a brunch place that was not a bar and kid-friendly. So happy I chose Stacks… it was a huge hit! Stacks has a very large menu including various pancake, waffle, French toast and omelette options. They also have burger, sandwiches, soups, and salads if you’re in the mood for lunch-food. This variety provides options for all eaters! Portions are huge, so you’ll be sure to leave full and satisfied. Kids menu and friendly wait staff makes Stacks a great option for children. Their Pancake Wraps seemed to be one of their most popular dishes! My aunt ordered the Washington and my uncle ordered the Hudson, and they both loved them. They were able to substitute hash browns for home fries, which were also delicious. We came right at 12:30, and we were able to be seated within 10 minutes. It definitely gets crowded around lunch time, but the staff is very organized and friendly. Free corn bread and BYOB are added bonuses! Will definitely be returning to Stacks soon!

Pancakes are very good here. Hence the name Stacks. I read some bad reviews about this place before coming. These people are idiots. You don’t order BBQ at a pancake joint, you order pancakes. Stick with what they do best and you’ll be happy. If you want BBQ then hop on a plane and go to Texas.

A solid hangover breakfast running around $ 10 – 15 a person. Hoboken steal. The space itself is small and tables are tight, but the service is prompt, the food comes out quickly, and food is actually good. Plates have larger portions and they offer a side of home fries or potatoes.

Came to this place on a Sunday morning after Halloween, so understandably it was crowded. It took about 30 minutes to be seated, which was fine. After being seated, we waited at least 10 minutes for the waiter to come by to take even a drink order. Half hour later, seeing other patrons receive their food, we inquired about ours and were told that«your ticket was just put in so it’ll still be a while.» No estimate as to how long it would take, no explanation for why the ticket was put in much later from the time our order was taken. Another half hour passes and we inquire again, at which point the hostess kindly explains that the kitchen is backed up with deliveries and now they are no longer seating other customers because its too busy, but still no estimate as to when the food will arrive. Finally, 1.5 hours later, we received our orders, Mozzarella Sticks, Build your own Breakfast eggs, and South of the Border Omelette. All of the food was average and on the bland side. After such a long time of waiting and less than mediocre food, we will never return to this establishment.

Something slightly better than a diner, with excellent customer service. Came here for breakfast around 1pm so it wasn’t too crowded and loved our waitress who was very upbeat, friendly and attentive. Big part of the reason I’m giving 4 stars. Also, food was pretty good even if diner-like, it was what I was in the mood for. Had scrambled eggs, bacon and silver dollar pancakes. They are generous with the portions as well as the cup of maple syrup for the pancakes– that’s always a good sign for me. I recently heard they renovated so if you haven’t been back in a few years I would give them another try.

This place was a solid 3 for me. The service was good. I’ve been here several times before, and the line can get rather long on the weekends, but we were sat right away this past weekend. Our waiter was busy, but he was attentive. The food itself was decent. I had whole wheat pancakes with blueberries. The blueberries on top were fresh, but I was hoping for more blueberries inside of the pancakes. The warm blueberries are what make the dish for me. I’ve never had a bad meal here, and I’ve had both breakfast and lunch dishes. I wouldn’t wait an hour to eat here, but if the line is short, it’s definitely a nice place to have brunch.

Overall the food is good and the waitress that is usually there is very nice, and we like the place. Mostly good experiences, but some that weren’t good at all. Here’s one… A simple take-out order, french toast, a brownie, and a chopped salad. Failed to chop the salad, but assured me when I picked up the food that it was chopped(like they were doing me this big favor of chopping large pieces of chicken and large pieces of lettuce). I tipped them, like usual, and walked out. Salad was not chopped at all, whole lettuce leafs, large pieces of incredibly overcooked chicken, and rotten spinach sporadically throughout the salad. Strike 1. Open the rest of the food, and the french toast syrup lid wasn’t on and there was syrup over all the food and NO napkins included when I specifically asked for napkins and said we were eating on a bench in a park. Strike 2. Then my girl gets her brownie, makes her happy, but the thing is inedible, hard as a rock, cold as ice, days old and stale. Again they did us a «favor» by selling us only a brownie for $ 3 versus a brownie sundae for $ 5. I guess the ice cream masks the brownie and makes it edible. The worst was they raved about their«homemade» brownies. Strike 3. So I figured I would call her back and let her know about the issues… A simple FYI call to let you know that your chef lied to you, or something happened. She gets defensive, and again assured me it was chopped, and said«sorry it wasn’t chopped to your liking» like it was just me being a picky pain in the ass. I also let her know that the spinach is rotten and the brownie was hard. No apologies, no discounts, no coupons, no «we will do better next time,» just excuses and dismissal of my opinion. Ouch…
