I have had nothing but great experiences at Adventures in Learning and their sister school, Bright Beginnings. I find the highly negative review about«specials» out of context because as part of tuition the kids get music and movement, cooking class, spanish, and special days like a petting farm coming to school. I appreciate that my child can take soccer, or ballet or any of the other programs the center has offered over the years for an additional fee, which happens while other kids are offered their afternoon playtime(which my child gets as part of the daily schedule on days she doesn’t have soccer). This same specials offering occurs at the public school and multiple other pre-schools, so this parent doesn’t understand that to have the«extra» specials their tuition would be the $ 200 plus dollars per month(as opposed to the $ 181 a semester of soccer) that another school would charge. As far as amenities go, this school offers more for the tuition than most other schools in the area. I will call this a school because the teachers have taught two of my children for a combined 8 years! I started at Bright Beginnings in 2009 and opted to keep my child in their pre-school program through kindergarten because in fact it is closed one of the least number of days of any program in Hoboken(if you have in fact researched multiple other options you will see this). They take an extra day on July 4th instead of taking Columbus Day and Veteran’s Day– which is really nice for working parents who don’t get those days off! There is one teacher day in August– other than that the kids are in school other than big holidays. I have found the teachers to be very caring and the educational program has more than prepared my kindergartener as compared to peers. I have only had experience at the downtown location, but since they do sometimes have staff move to other centers(which happens on occasion, but the same teachers who taught my first are still primarily teaching my second). I have also been an active parent and have witnessed many of the field trips and holiday shows and parties, I am very watchful and aware of who is watching my kids. I can say that I couldn’t really be happier with my kids 8 years of supervised development, the educational program, and the level of caring that has been expressed at Adventures in Learning. I also like that like aged kids are separated into different classrooms so that babies are with babies, walkers are with walkers, toddlers are with toddlers and pre-schoolers are with other kids their own age. The separate bright and thoughfully arranged classrooms(circle time area, play planning area, lunch/snack area, reading corner) are a really nice learning environment for the kids. The classrooms are clean, and each September many of the toys, most of the rugs, and anything shabby is replaced. The place is clean and spacious. I would highly recommend this daycare/school(because it is a school) to any parent.
