Alright, Cleveland-folk, here’s a review for ya. I keep it limited when it comes to «out of town reviews» — mostly to places we really enjoy when visiting family up north. Come down to Cinci and have some chili on spaghetti sometime. As the photograph proclaims, the season for going to Monroe’s is now. I mean, right now. Any time. All seasons. This is a fun, family business. We visit each season and get a different harvest. Monroe’s has done a good job of diversifying their land use, and they’ve kept the family involved — building their clientele naturally over the years. We just visited for strawberry-picking this year and had a good time with our kids. Some of the crops this year(2014) have taken a beating(trees, etc — during the 2013 cold). The strawberries don’t taste like your supermarket finds. You can save a lot if you pick your own — so, put on your mud-boots and get out there. We’ve picked apples, pumpkins, purchased pure maple syrup and all kinds of other things at the farm. I hear that we may see some neat changes ahead at the farm, enhancements from what I understand. Looking forward to next season’s crop!

There are many farms, farmers markets, and orchards in this part of Ohio, but out of all the ones I have been too, this one is the best! Sue Monroe is just wonderful! Without even asking she gave me and my little boys a tour around their cider machine and around the farm. You can pick just about anything fresh up from them. Starting in June you can pick your own stawberries. As the season goes on there is peaches, raspberries, pears and apples! They have their own website, emailing list, and other techno things, but I love just driving up, grabbing a bushel of apples, a gallon of fresh cider and looking around at all the fresh produce in their store! The last Saturday in September and 1st Saturday in October is their annual apple festival! Pony rides, wagon rides, firetrucks, etc! WONDERFUL!
