First time here we walked in and they were rearranging tables and chairs but we were greeted with a welcome. We sat at the bar and say for about 10 minutes before we had to initiate conversation saying this is our first time here. At that point the owner extended a welcome. This was a pre dinner treat and every cheese we ordered was out. Overall it was not great service. And the gentleman behind the bar kept acknowledging that he should clock out before drinking his beer. The wine was good though we always give 2 shots so let’s see what the 2nd encounter brings.

I really love this place! My husband and I have visited three times now and every experience was great! We attended their Valentine’s day tasting event this past weekend and it was fabulous! Everything was very organized — and we tasted between 35 – 50 different wines — the cost of the tasting was only $ 5! We loved so many of them and ended up going home with 5 bottles(would have been more but didn’t want to go overboard)! We can’t wait to enjoy these over the next few weeks! We signed up for thier Wine Classes coming up — we are attending on the 21st! Cant wait for it! As for the staff, they are incredibly helpful. They always go out of their way to ensure that you get exactly what you need. They listen to their customers and usually hit the nail on the head when someone describes what they like. As far as I can tell, people are very happy with the new ownership since the new owners have already developed a regular crowd that keeps coming back! I saw the one bad review on Unilocal — I didn’t have the same experience at all and I hope you don’t allow that to deter you from visiting! Maybe they were having an off day when that person visited. I wish this place weren’t so far from us but it’s worth the drive and it’s definitely worth checking out if you live in the area, too! Go check it out, you won’t be disappointed! :)

Sometimes when a place we really likes changes hands, we can rebel against any changes to what we were used to, and instead of different, see the changes as bad. I had not visited The Village Cellar prior to the ownership change, so can’t speak to how any changes which took place were for the better or worse. What I can and will speak to is what is, relative to nothing but my usual expectations for any place I might patronize. I first Visited the Village Cellar during a tasting. I found it to be busy, but the staff was welcoming, helpful and polite. I lost count of the wines I sampled that afternoon, some of them delightful, some surprising, and some not to my liking: indicative of a good variety of choices. I left with a couple of nice bottles of sparkling wine. I plan on returning for one of their tasting classes later in the month. Overall, I found The Village Cellar to be a place worth revisiting, and often. They have a good selection of wines, some of which you may not find anywhere else. Their staff is friendly and helpful and genuinely wants you to have a good experience. Were there glitches? Of course, but this isn’t unexpected when you’re relatively new and catering to a very large crowd, and nothing was worth being upset over(small confusion with the register, for instance). The Village Cellar is a cozy little place, friendly and accommodating, and worth returning to, and often.

This is a great little Friday night stop for a decent glass of Wine & cheese and crackers. The owners are more than helpful and accommodating.
