A-mazing food! We got a fish fry and the Super Sampler for entrees, with sides of mashed potatoes, baked macaroni and cheese, and hush puppies. The side salads were fresh and yummy. The fried green tomatoes were perfection, and the milkshakes were great — not too sweet or thick. Our waitress was sweet as pie, and helped surprise our mom for her birthday.

Where to begin? I was so excited for a brisket sandwich and two sides, but upon first bit realizing I had a full sandwich of fat with no brisket I was fairly disappointed. I didn’t say much as my girlfriend couldn’t finish her meal so I did and was content. I did let the manager know of my discontent and she said she would take it off the bill. I figured all was good until the bill came and 3 dollars was taken off the bill because I ate the sides. Now we get to the principle and fact of the matter and I get a little pissed off. The manager tried to justify that the sides are 3 bucks piece and I ate 2 therefore 6 — 9 is 3. So my question with the same justification was next time I come in I should be able to order brisket sandwiches all day long with no sides for $ 3 a piece. She said it doesn’t work that way… That ok because I will never be in there again to test out that theory.

When my brisket came out swimming in BBQ sauce, I knew I was in trouble. I was right. And especially when they have 3 of their own BBQ sauces on the table to try on it. If you’ve been to good Q’joints, you know what I’m talking about.

Lower your BBQ expectations, substantially. The pulled pork was not very well shredded, not super tender. It was rather flavorless as well. The mac and cheese was pedestrian at best and it was served room temperature. The sides are served in tiny portions. The yams and walnuts(I never noticed or tasted any walnuts) was not bad and at least it was hot. The fried pickles were barely fried at all. They were just very hot and still very undercooked. Whatever batter they use just falls right off them and onto the plate. The server was polite enough but forgot the corn muffins, which we had to ask for. We asked for ketchup, but ended up having to go retrieve it ourselves. $ 15 for pulled pork platter is about $ 4-$ 5 more than BBQ places in the Buffalo area. The atmosphere is like an old cafeteria and didn’t look super clean to me. My guests liked the chicken and ribs but also found the pulled pork fair at best. The corn muffins are good but I can’t say much more about the food. Average to below average and certainly not worth going out of your way for.

Found this place getting hungry as we drove west on 86. Easy on and off the freeway to interesting food with great service. I’m a San Franciscan and very picky about my food. The wings were great, Red Neck Rolls were great and the ribs were good, a touch dry, but still very good. Side of corn sucked, besides that, very happy with the meal and service, good find.

My husband and I drove 40 minutes to JD’s last night. We both ordered sampler platters and found them both to be oustanding. The service was good and we liked the atmosphere. We will definitely be going back. P. S. the pulled pork was, indeed, awesome.
