The food is always delicious and the staff is very informative and friendly! I love all of the different rooms that you can eat in and the atmosphere all together. I would recommend this resteraunt!

Don’t come to lunch on Tuesdays and sit at the bar! Bartender is scowling, loud and inattentive! Not personable and going off the top with how loud he’s banging glasses and shaking martinis!!!

The Scarlet Oak Tavern is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever visited, so I’m glad we moved in right down the street from it. It’s an amazing historic building with a fantastic menu, but the biggest reason it stands out is the consistency in customer service I’ve experienced there for the past year and a half. Every major milestone over the past year I’ve celebrated at the Scarlet Oak: the signing of our house papers, my husband’s birthday, our anniversary. .. Never have I been to a restaurant that the staff is so welcoming, kind, and enthusiastic to help its patrons. Even the times we’ve been there on a busy night, everyone working seems genuinely excited to be helping customers. I wanted to give a special shout-out to Raoul – he’s a powerhouse of quick, warm, sincere service. A month or so ago my husband and I were there for brunch, and despite being the only ones on the patio, Raoul was hustling to bring us drink refills and to check up on us. After working for years in the service industry, I currently work in a customer-facing role for a software company. Most of my days are spent talking to customers. I know how rare it is to have a customer willingly and boisterously share a positive experience(rather than a negative one), so I wanted to write to you personally and let you and your staff know to keep up the good work. Whatever training your staff undergoes, it must be top-notch. Thanks for all the memories we’ve made at your restaurant, and the many more memories to come.

Excellent place for a higher end meal. This restaurant is housed in what looks like an old colonial. Very intimate and comfortable. It feels like you’re at a relative’s house(complete with fireplace). For food, I had the Filet with blue cheese butter, Mac n cheese and apple squash mix. Only gripe was with the Mac n cheese, as my sister summed it up perfectly: «Mac with a suggestion of cheese.» I also got their house made Sinners Punch. It’s $ 14, but it comes served in a glass flask. It ends up being about 1.5 drinks and considering the strength of it, that’s probably a good thing. Very strong, but toes the line of being too strong. One of the better house made cocktails I’ve had. Also, free valet parking, which my cheapskate brother in law drove right past.

Dropped in for a Xmas brunch with my friends as the location was convenient for everyone. I’ve been here on several occasions with the last being my brother’s 30th birthday and it’s pretty much the way I remembered it last. The décor/ambience is very intimate, cozy and romantic. I love the roaring fireplace and it vaguely reminds me of a B&B inn up north, if only for a moment. For starters, we ordered 2 flatbread pizzas to share with the group. Between the two, a bigger thumbs up goes to the lobster pizza. The duck pizza was a bit bland. Personally, I thought they were both on the bland side because the cheese they used wasn’t sharp enough if that makes sense. For our entrees, I shared the lobster roll and the crab burger with my best friend. Neither of these wowed us at all. The lobster had more lettuce than lobster and the crab burger had too much breading/batter for my liking. We ate it but felt that it was just«okay». Overall, the experience wasn’t bad as the ambience made up for it. Great option for drinks and conversation but I wouldn’t advise coming here expecting Michelin star-type gourmet dishes.

The building is an old rustic house that has housed several iterations of restaurants through the years… some good and some that failed. The décor is somewhat quaint with a country feel. The Scarlet Oak Tavern may have a long run because the food and service are really good. Unfortunately, the noise level is… shout at your table mate 4 feet away just to be heard. Great for small group dining with friends or business associates. Not so great for quiet and romantic dinners. A drink, appetizer, entrée, dessert and coffee with tax and tip will run $ 65. and up per person.

A friend who is a very picky eater recommended this place. It did not disappiont. We sat in the tavern area near the fireplace. Our waitress was there to assist us immeadately. She was great. My wife had a fantastic haddock with corn stew and a I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf. Both were fantastic. The food was so hot we had to let it cool for a moment. The corn bread before our meal was tasty and not dry. Look forward to a return visit.

This is one of my boyfriend’s favorite spots so we’ve been here more than a couple of times… and I’m hooked! Let’s start with atmosphere. Super cozy, nice big bar and a beautiful dining room. Rustic chic is what I would describe it as. Service is always great and the bartenders mix up some very delicious concoctions. Everything we’ve had to eat here is fantastic. Love the tuna tartare, pizza, crab cake… there are lots of options and they don’t disappoint. Can’t wait to go back again!

We’ve tried porterhouse for two, cooked perfectly, hardly could finish the dish Oysters were oysters — just like everywhere, although the cocktails were really tasty and I seriously wanted more and more, but someone had to drive lmao) both times we sat on the bar and were pleased with great service. Very cosy place. 4 stars because there was a «fly» problem — they were a little annoying(one landed on my glass rim, I just laughed and let go poor little thing

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. After waiting 35 minutes for the Scarlet Oak to honor an 8pm reservation with no explanation and zero updates on the status of our table, we were finally seated in the bar area. After expressing our displeasure, the manager was dispatched to our table and offered us a free round of drinks — if we «would like.» We highlighted that we were not looking for free drinks, but would have appreciated an acknowledgement that our having to wait for a table was unexpected and unacceptable. The appropriate time for an offer of complimentary cocktails had passed. There was a palpable lack of respect for our time, and a failure to appreciate that a «$$$» restaurant should be more focused on customer service. That being said, we decided to give the Scarlet Oak another try. We love the ambience, the cocktails, and the menu, and had been assured that a note was made on our Open Table account(«It won’t happen again»). We made another reservation, and upon arriving we were handed a buzzer: you know, one of those light-up coasters that they give you at Pub 99. Not a great sign. This time, our tolerance was a lot lower. We waited for 15 minutes, just long enough to hear other hopeful diners come up and complain about their not having been seated(with a reservation) after 30 – 40 minutes. Another bad sign. With 3 – 5 hostess/manager types bee-bopping back and forth from the hostess stand to the dining room, and an initial assurance that a table was being cleared(obviously not ours because we continued to stand there for another 15 minutes), we left. We asked them to cancel our reservation in Open Table so that we could make another for someplace else, and they couldn’t even make THAT happen until 20 – 30 minutes later. If your time is valuable(isn’t everyone’s?), I recommend that you try some of our other favorites in the area where we have been shown a greater level of appreciation as diners, notably Tosca or Burton’s Grille.

Daughter-in-law’s birthday meal scheduled for tonight but I’m too far away to attend. I’ll update after their meal. The 4 stars are for the courtesy, kindness, and accommodating of the Hostess, Jane who patiently handled my special phone request and kudos to her Manager who assisted her. Can’t wait to visit come Christmas to taste your delicious fare. I will be giving out gift certificates for the holidays! Thank you, Jesse *****UPDATE: 5 stars… dinner over and a perfect night for them all!

We came here to celebrate a birthday and even though we had a reservation, it took a while for us to be sat. Obviously this was frustrating, but then came Manager Ken and our wonderful waitress Katrina. They went above and beyond to make sure our night was a fabulous 5 star one! All of our meals were amazing(as usual). The filet mignon was melt in your mouth delicious and the lobster scallop risotto was perfect but the service is what will keep me coming back. More restaurants need people like Ken and Katrina. Going the extra mile to ensure our night turned around earned Scarlet Oak customers for life. I will tell everyone I know how amazing the service is here. This is what a restaurant should be. Thank you again Ken and Katrina! We can’t wait to come back.

My wife and I don’t get to go out alone much so when the rare occasion rolls around, we like to go someplace extra nice. As it’s our 10th anniversary, we had to make it even more special. We’ve driven by Scarlet Oak Tavern many times and so it came to mind as we made our plans. We made a same-day reservation for 7pm on a Thursday(not bad for making it at 5:45), and got there about 20 minutes early and were seated right away. The lot looked full, but there was plenty of room in the restaurant so don’t let the number of cars deceive you. They have a summer farm-to-table menu available, which didn’t grab me, although my wife got the Blackberry Bramble cocktail(blackberry shrub, vodka, tarragon), which was amazing, like cobbler in a glass. I got a Mayahuel(resposada, Domaine de Canton, bitters, honey, lemon), which was good, but not knock-your-socks-off. My wife has some allergies(wheat, corn, dairy, eggs) but there was no problem finding something to eat. She had local oysters to start and miso-glazed swordfish that she enjoyed. I got the oven-fired crab and cheddar dip, which was delicious, and the 24-oz porterhouse steak. I ordered medium-rare and it came out perfect, but I think most people would think it too rare.(Most people really mean medium when they say medium-rare.) On the side I got the house-made steak sauce, which was in a different world than A1, as well as asparagus and maple-chipotle fries. I could taste the maple, but the chipotle was very subtle. My wife thought it was fine because those tastes could easily overwhelm the potato flavor and as in most things she was probably right. We paired those with a couple of glasses of wine, and we didn’t feel at all like they were lesser servings than if we ordered a bottle. I was too full for dessert and while my wife could have had one, there was nothing she could eat, given her allergies. Service was excellent and attentive. For example, the waiter noticed the tilt-y table and took care of it without us having to mention it. The atmosphere was great. It’s a beautiful 18th-century farmhouse and barn that’s been restored, very tastefully decorated in an understated colonial style. Keep in mind that it is fine dining and the final bill reflects that. As a special treat, we were quite happy with dinner, even if it cost a substantial portion of our weekly grocery bill. I definitely recommend Scarlet Oak Tavern.

I can’t, in good conscience, give Scarlet Oak Tavern any less than five stars just given how much I enjoyed my first experience here. Perhaps the kitchen just had an amazing day, or perhaps this will be how it always is, but regardless, they knocked my socks off … so five stars it is. When you drive up, the place is huge. Sprawling white farmhouse with a parking lot that is wicked full… so you know it’s going to be busy inside. We sat at a very full bar after snagging a couple spots. They are proud of their artisanal cocktails(they make their own bitters and tinctures) and a carefully chosen wine list that is more ‘accessible’ to all. While I appreciate that, I decided to stick with beer. It’s a small list, but just as with their cocktails and wine, a list that they put thought into. First thing on the menu that caught our eye was the Baked Westfield Farm Goat Cheese. Admittedly, when it came out, I was not expecting what we got. It comes in a small cast iron skillet and it’s like a baked Mexican dip, but with goat cheese. I actually loved it, but the flavors were to adventurous for my husband who was not a big fan of salsa and goat cheese mixed. I did wish for some bread, rather than just the tortilla strips as the goat cheese was quite rich and needed something a little starchier to stand up to it. I have a love affair with steak frites and when I saw them on the menu, there was no question of what I would order for my main course. It came with arugula salad, bone marrow butter and rosemary truffle frites. Holy. Mother. Of. Lord. Baby. Jesus. It was heaven on a plate. I couldn’t stop eating. The steak was cooked to medium rare perfection. Those truffle fries were amazing and when you put each component on the plate onto the fork… it was literally the perfect bite of food. This was all so good that I stopped paying attention to everything going on around me and thus, I have no flipping clue what my husband ate or whether or not he enjoyed his meal. I think it was a burger, but I seriously can’t remember as I was in a state of euphoria and all that mattered was me, the food and my next bite. We’ll be back. Oh, we’ll be back.

My husband and I went to the Scarlet Oak Tavern on Friday July 31st. It was our anniversary and we wanted to do something nice. Well this was it! We had an early reservation because we thought it would get busy. So we got there around 5:00pm and our reservation was at 5:10. We were sat immediately in a booth around the corner. We could see the bar, and the back of the restaurant. Our server was very nice, and recommended a few cocktails for my husband. I had a glass of prosecco, and he had a margarita. They were both very good. We started with the blue crab dip. It was quite hot when it got to the table. The server also brought over bread. The dip was gone quickly :) We then ordered our meals. I had the Steak Frites(so some steak tips with rosemary truffle fries and an arugula salad), and my husband wanted the Steak Tips with a baked potato and spinach. We both asked for medium on the steak. Mine was also served with bone marrow butter. Let me tell you, we didn’t wait long and the food was out of this world. Everything was hot, cooked perfectly, and the portions were great too! We tasted one anthers meal and had zero complaints! We finished off the night with a S’mores dessert, and a Strawberry Trifle. I have to say the S’mores was a bit on the chocolate side, less marshmallow, but still good. However– I’m gonna say the trifle was the huge hit. The strawberries were fresh, and the whipped cream was homemade. As we made our way out my husband and I looked around and saw the place was packed! We will be back to sit at the bar for some drinks with a few apps. We will also be bringing our friends! This is the kind of place that deserved all 5 Stars.

This was by far my favorite restaurant I visited on my most recent trip to Boston! From the friendly hostess to the nice waiter to the promptness of our food coming out everything went seamlessly for my first visit! We started with a Harpoon Beer, the Scarlet Oak cocktail and the Spicy Tuna Tartare appetizer. The tuna was prepared on spot. This dish comes with wasabi crackers which really adds to the flavor of the dish in the best way! For entrees we ordered the Lobster and Scallop Risotto and the Hanger Steak Frites. I got 4 good sized scallops that were cooked to perfection and about 7 good sized chunks of Lobster in my dish! Oh and I forgot to mention it is then topped with Prosciutto! I am craving it as I write this review. You definitely cannot get a dish like that in Ohio and for $ 31! I am still a little disappointed in myself for not ordering dessert(I was told they have amazing desserts). They had a toasted marshmallow ice cream on the menu! Why would I turn that down? Oh I don’t know maybe because I was still savoring my entrée :)

This was my first visit at this location and I was there for lunch. We arrived around 11:45am and it wasn’t crowded and we were quickly seated. The individual I was dining with has been here many times and he said this is the place to go for a cocktail after work. The dining and bar area were nicely arranged. They also had an outside seating area that looked inviting. My choice for lunch was the Scarlet Salad and a bowl of clam chowder. Some of the best chowder I have ever tasted. My dining partner had a larger salad with grilled steak. Looked tasty. I will be back in the area I. Two weeks and this is on my list. Enjoy!

Great choice for my parents recent birthday dinner — fabulous service, standout entrees were the scallop and lobster risotto and potato crusted haddock with bacon corn chowder, and the desserts were«on the house, of course» for the birthday celebrations. Oh, and loved the sweet cornbread to start. The 90s alternative pandora is a little loud and a little incongruous, but otherwise a great experience.

I was in town for a business trip and they sprung for dinner at this lovely establishment. Amazing food here and the service is impeccable. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and calamari appetizers for the table. The size of those shrimp was amazing… especially if you are not a local. The interior is very warm, candle lit, classy. Business people unwinding here after work and larger dinner parties all around. Tables are well sized for the number of guests(yes this can be an issue at some places). I had the lobster and scallop risotto and enjoyed every mouthful. I mean it, not skimpy at all and you will never forget it. I got to envy the filet my neighbor ordered and everyone at the table seemed pleased with their offerings. The martini with blue cheese stuffed olives really topped off the night. I hope to move up there just so I can go back here for dinner!
