Funny that this place is called«Quality Nails» because this was the WORST gel manicure I have ever received. I can overlook the somewhat grimy appearance of nail salons as long as they’re clean and professional. Not only was this place dirty but my nails look terrible! Started off on a bad note at the beginning of the manicure when my hands were burning and in pain during the soak off. After reading another review claiming that they use a bleach mixture I am HORRIFIED. This woman took barely two minutes to clean up my cuticles and edges, did not even shape them and then proceeded to give me a streaky polish job with so many imperfections. Believe me I am not high maintenance… but when I asked her to clean up all the messy polish around the edges and tops of my nails she flat out ignored me! You know, something that nearly EVERY nail salon I’ve been to does at the end of a manicure without question! I also pointed out a smudge on my index finger which she«corrected» by painting more clear top coat over… makes zero sense. End result: TERRIBLE. Streaky and so, so messy. Oh, and they charge«add-on» fees for calf massage and lotion at the end of a pedicure, something that is included in the price pretty much anywhere you go! What a joke… don’t let the location near upscale downtown Hingham fool you, this place is a nightmare. No wonder it was dead on a sunny Friday afternoon. One and done, will never return!

$ 46 for a mani/pedi combo is pretty good for the burbs — that is until they ask you if you want the«spa pedicure»? When I asked what the«spa pedicure» consisted of I learned it was basic exfoliation, lotion and brief leg massage. Of course I want the«spa pedicure». I’ve had that done every time I’ve ever had a pedicure and it’s never been offered as an ad-on before. If not for the calf massage, however brief, I’d probably just paint my own toes at home. But wait, it’s an extra $ 10 for that part?(And I’m not talking a 15 minute leg massage that you pay extra for, like you find in some place. This was the 1 – 2 minute version). So, now we’re up to $ 56 for a basic mani/pedi plus tip which ends up costing somewhere around $ 65 and this is not a spa. This is your basic, run of the mill nail salon with questionable hygiene practices(many nail places are the same when it comes to this — I’m not being mean) and neon lights and bad music in the background and outdated magazine and a staff whose first language is not the same as yours though the phrase«pay now» is very easy to understand. I went to these kind of places in the city all the time for one reason and one reason only. They were cheap(oh, and fast which I guess makes that 2 reasons). Very often it is a case of «you get what you pay for». But sometimes, you’d have someone work on you who was absolutely meticulous and flawless making it an absolute bargain. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I know what I’m going to get at this type of nail place and i’m okay with it. Obviously. But, I was a lot more okay with it when my services plus tip came out to a total of $ 45-$ 50, not $ 65.
