Went to redeem some free drinks on my app card and found the following sign was posted on door«Evicted Uncommon Grounds and Danny Eason». Post on Facebook account said the landlord raised the rent by 55% but Ive never heard of «relocation» requiring that any business be «evicted». In this depressed city, with this horrible economy — its quite hard to believe anyone is raising rents. Most land owners are happy to have any paying tenant rather than empty buildings with all the closed and failed businesses around here and US as a whole! Legal eviction is only a legal remedy, able to be enforced, when payment of fiscal obligation outlined in legal rental agreement has been breeched. IE tenant didn’t pay rent as per contractual agreement. If at the end of Uncommon Grounds rental term said business decided to not continue in this location and vacated the premises after fulfilling their rental contract term in full — they most certainly have just cause to sue said bank for slander/libel for posting the«Common Grounds and Danny Eason evicted notice/sign»!! Consider the fact that Mr Eason ran for city mayor recently and intends to be involved in politics at some point in the future; his ability to make honorable, accurate, sound, & responsible fiscal decisions in both his personal and business dealings would be very important to voters. Exposing him as a deadbeat renter who was evicted for non-payment — if untrue, is both libel and slanderous. Simple as that, although truth of facts are an absolute defense against either charge. If untrue the bank has harmed his reputation. Both personally and professionally.

Visiting the area to see my daughter, and I happened upon this lovely place. Wonderful staff, comfy seats and best of all wonderful coffee!

This coffee shop was once my favorite, but a new owner took over and things went downhill very quickly. They were evicted because they did not pay rent. The previous owners put their everything into this coffee shop and it was a great place. It makes me so sad to see what has happened.
