The nicest and cleanest laundry mat I have been in. It doesn’t take a lot of your time to do. Close by great restaurants.

While on vacation we needed to do a few loads of wash and we discovered our hotel’s facilities were sorely lacking. So a quick Unilocal search and we found this treasure.
Downtown Laundry Express is really a laundromat taken to another level. Yes, your duds will meet suds like you’d expect. However, the interior of the place is bright, clean, with top notch equipment. The staff is extra helpful and super friendly. Multiple flat screen televisions (including the kid’s area) keep patrons entertained. And even the bathroom facilities receive proper attention.
Prior to our visit here, if someone had told me I’d actually ENJOY doing laundry at a laundromat I’d have told them they needed a 72 hour psych hold. But this business has clearly proven that even a mundane chore like doing the laundry can be made enjoyable when it’s customers are respected and made the priority.

Almost better than doing laundry at home. Crowded at 1:00 on a Monday but still staff friendly, plenty of machines. They let me borrow the management cart because all the others were in use.

There’s a reason this launderette has so many 5-​star reviews. It is clean with excellent machines and the staff is talented, professional and friendly. Their wash-​and-​fold service is outstanding!

Clean, bright, spacious, no problem getting soap, washer or dryer. Card system seems savvy as opposed to endless need for change. Centrally located so you can grab a bite to eat or whatever.

Very clean and great environment. Everyone taking care of their own kuleana and picking up after themselves! Employees present are busy making sure things are working okay and taking care of customers and laundry that has been dropped off to be washed. TV shows on for a variety and in good taste. Cool and comfortable area to wait for your laundry. Lots of carts to move your wash to the dryers. Mahalo to the employees who take pride of their environment to male customers feel welcomed!!!

I went there because I was on vacation and needed to wash something. The staff was very helpful and loading the new washing card (no extra charge for getting a new one) with money was totally easy. I love it that you don’t need quarters anymore. A small load starts by 3,10 $. Drying is 30cents for 4 minutes and detergent costs 1 $. Was totally easy and enough machines for everybody (even on a Sunday morning with lots of people in the shop).

I have a small house that I rent out and I was able to do all the towels & linens plus my clothes in ONE 20 min load! What a time saver. Plus I had no idea what I was doing and a lady walked me through the whole card process and had me switch to a larger washer & I didn’t even have to ask.
The only thing that could make my great experience here better is if there was wifi

This is a GREAT laundromat! Clean, comfortable setting (chairs, flat screen tvs) and near subway & Lucy’s Mexican restaurant! The attendants are hard workers that keep the area clean!

Best laundromat I’ve ever used. Clean, attndent is very helpful. She was even picking up butts in the parking area. She deserves a raise. Flat screen TV and area for kids. The electronic payment system does away with cash and coin fed machines. Kudos.

LOVE IT! Staff are always friendly and everything is kept spotlessly clean! Love the card system so don’t have to deal with quarters. Washers range in size from 1 load to 8 loads (maybe more?) and dryers are always kept in perfect working order. Price is a bit higher but I gladly pay it for the peace of mind knowing all dryers/​washers work the same. Located near a lot of food places too so you can pop your stuff in and go grab a bite.

I was in Hilo for my nephew’s baseball tournament (Friday — Tuesday) and of course after every game we had to wash his uniform. The hotel we were staying at only had 2 washers/​drayers and of course pretty much the whole hotel was filled with baseball teams and their families. So needless to say waiting for a washer/​dryer could take a while.
One day while looking for a Subway (my nephew was craving), we happened upon a Laundry Mat. My sister and I both do not need to go to laundry mats at home, but in our part experiences they weren’t the best place that we would want to go to.
However we didn’t really want to spend what little free time we had just waiting for available washers in our hotel, so I told her that I would go with her to do her son’s uniform.
So we took a deep breath, gathered all our quarters and went to the Downtown Laundry Express. The outside looked decent enough, but were were in awe when we walked through those automatic doors.
WOW! Is the word. The atmosphere was like no other laundry mat that I had ever seen. It was huge, clean, had A/​C, huge flat screen TV’s on the wall, tables, chairs, vending machines, a children’s play/​TV area and LOTS (like 50 each) of washers and dryers.
We were so intimidated, that instead of trying to figure things out by ourselves, we went to ask the worker behind the counter. She was so nice and helpful. The funny thing is quarters were no longer needed. You went to a machine and purchased a card and you use that card for the washers/​dryers and soap vending machines.
After my sister put in my nephew’s uniform, we went next door to Subway to buy lunch and went back to the laundry mat to eat, watch TV and enjoy the A/​C. It was very busy, but everyone was there were pleasant and the worker was always doing something. Whether it was making sure the place was neat (sweeping, etc) or checking on customers to make sure everything was ok.
That day we had an eye opening experience. There was plenty of parking, there were food places close by and the laundry mat itself was great. These owners had a great vision and their staff is wonderful. Keep up the good work!
