The B Hive Organic Salon

On the plus side, this is a beautifully decorated venue – spa-​like, calm and very Zen ambience. That said, they use specific line of organic products and if you have an allergy to hair dye and the product they carry does not work for you, they do not appear able to search out alternative products. In my case, since I appeared to mildly react to their line of products, the solution offered was simply to not dye my hair but to just increase the highlights to mask gray hair – an overly blonde look that did not work for me at all. Then additionally, they overcharged me for «half-​head highlights» when they did what the stylist called «spot highlights” – a less expensive procedure. I didn’t figure out the overcharge till later. My suggestion is to ask for a breakdown of costs when you pay for services. I went to another salon and they literally searched out 3 different organic hair dye products (2 of which they do not use at the salon) until they found one that worked for me! So no allergic reaction and hair color that I love. Don’t let B Hive be your last or only resort.

Today I went to The B Hive for the first time for a cut and partial highlights. The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and friendly. The décor is earthy and comfortable. Because it’s an organic salon there is no harsh chemical odor, it smells beautiful. Jessica spent the time to chat about what I wanted and made knowledgeable suggestions. I never felt rushed, or forgotten about. Jessica took the time to show me other ways to style my new cut. Some products were recommended to me and I was given samples but I was not pushed to buy anything. I am very happy with my hair and will definitely be back.

Great place, wonderful staff, relaxing environment and the products are effective! I get color here every 6 weeks and it lasts to cover my grays. The organic color and non organic colors that I have used in the past have no difference in longevity which is refreshing!

Went to this place for a blow-​out. The place is cute and everyone was very personable. They truly stay true to the organic brand. All the products in the salon are made either in town or they can contact the suppliers directly regarding concerns. Jessica was great! She listens to what you want and my curls lasted from Friday til Sunday!!!

This review is not based on an experience I had — anecdotal evidence from my mother but I am gonna go ahead and say you can trust me — this place is great!
My mom had to get her hair color for an upcoming wedding — so I called to set up the appt myself bc I wanted to be sure they would do right by her — she’s never had get hair colored before and she was really nervous. I explained everything to them & they assured me they would take care of her — and we’re even pretty accommodating and made an appointment at the last minute for us.
They blew away our expectations! Everything from the service I had to make her appointment to her time there itself was great… And she looks so pretty!!!
They did a great job with the cut and color, she said that her hair feels light and airy & having had my own hair colored many times before I can confidently say that the color is so gorgeous. They were friendly and helpful and really just great. My mom doesn’t usually love salons bc she’s pretty picky but she LOVED this place! I found their rates to be reasonable. This place rocks.

This place is fantastic. I love that they use all organic natural hair care products. It’s beautiful inside, calming environment nice décor. Comfortable waiting area and the staff are very friendly.
I loved my haircut and the shampoo and conditioner they used smelled fantastic.

So delighted to have found this lovely salon– a real haven of calm, and with a stellar, professional staff. Angela is a gifted, imaginative stylist and colorist, and quite a resource for tips on dealing with curly hair (no more walking around in a silconed hair bubble; thank you, Davines hair line.) She and husband/​partner James offer locally produced products as well, including sunscreens and moisturizers. You walk out feeling you were well cared for, beyond the great cut and color.

Absolutely AMAZING staff, services, product line and prices! I am a super picky person when it comes to salons and this is simply great! Did my hair with Liz who is not only a great colorist/​hairdresser, but also super sweet !

I took the drive from Westchester to the BHive desperate for a haircut. The trip was surprisingly quick, and boy was it worth it. The salon is gorgeous down to every last detail… even the outlet covers are adorned with something pretty. Relaxing eclectic and tastefully decorated it was enjoyable from the moment I walked in. I then had an amazingly relaxing shampoo, (one that I left feeling satisfied!) followed by a great haircut. Angela knows her stuff, she’s an adorable put-​together young professional with an obvious natural talent for what she does. She assessed my hair in an honest way and the finished product was perfect for my hair type, she was quick, (not rushed) and didn’t over do it. Needless to say, I will be back for the works next time. Loving my new do!

Best haircut I’ve ever gotten in my life! I have very fragile thin hair, and Jeana was so careful and gentle with it, and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The place is so clean and the staff is so friendly and comforting. The products smell AMAZING and work very well ! I got a filler conditioning treatment, and a haircut and blow out, and I was very impressed. My hair had amazing bounce for a few days until I washed it and the cut came out EXACTLY the same as the picture I showed to my stylist. Will definitely be back to make this my permanent salon!

I recently moved to Bergen County from Manhattan, and I have finally found a salon comparable to the Manhattan salons I have been accustomed. The staff is extremely friendly and the salon has a natural spa ambience. My stylist Liz (highly recommend her) is wonderful. She always listens to what I am looking for and executes it to perfection. I have received many single processes, highlights, haircuts, and special occasion styles. I have loved my hair everytime I have gotten up from Liz’s chair.
Also, I love the fact that organic products are being used in the salon, especially during my pregnancy. If your pregnant and want to maintain your color, you can feel safe about the products they are using at the b hive.

The B Hive is truly excellent! I found this salon on Unilocal as I am new to the area and had an absolutely flawless experience. I have been to an enormous amount of salons in search of the perfect one and I am elated to have finally found it.
The B Hive staff are experienced and highly skilled, know their product lines and do what you ask of them including provide suggestions if requested. If you ask for shoulder length you get it — if you were considering a few options staff are willing to explore them with you. Consultations before your service are standard, professional and conducted with the utmost care.
Besides excellent staff and stellar products, the service is friendly and attentive. I enjoyed a hot cup of tea while my glaze set and after my hair was done perused the front where a great selection of thoughtful earth and animal friendly products as well as jewelry are displayed for purchase. No pressure to purchase — just simply available for your pleasure. James the owner is at the desk available to answer any and all questions you may have.
If all of this was not enough, about a week after my service I received a follow-​up email from James personally thanking me for my business with specific details from my visit.

I found this salon on Unilocal,took a chance, and could not be happier. Walking into The B Hive Salon, my first impression was lovely. The décor is beautiful, the place is well kept, and the staff is really friendly. Upon walking in, I was invited to have coffee or tea and relax in the waiting area.
I met with my stylist, Karla, and she rocked my head! She gave me such an awesome haircut — I still can’t get over it. Karla really listened to me, but she also encouraged me to be daring. Without a doubt, I’ll be returning in the near future.

The B Hive is unlike any other salon in an area packed with salons! The interior is beautiful – so many unique little details make it a special space. The owners are attentive and welcoming and the staff are excellent at what they do. I see Liz (and recommend her!!). She is always warm, friendly, and upbeat while providing great service! All of the products are organic, so as someone who needs frequent color services I love the fact that I’m done with hair color that burns my scalp while I sit through processing.
I couldn’t recommend the B Hive highly enough! With their commitment to sustainability you can feel good about going there AND look great when you come out!

I’ve been here twice and have finally found the perfect salon! Karla gave me a phenomenal cut and perfect color. She did exactly what I wanted and was very professional in that she didn’t make me feel like I had to be chatty. I did feel there was a bit of product pushing not necessarily from Karla, but that happens everywhere.
I love the laid back vibe here. I’ve always had a hard time finding a salon I liked because I hate the gossip fests, this place does not appear to be that way. The shampoo girl was also a sweetheart. Already have my next appointment booked!
