We had two excellent breakfasts there during our weekend in Hillsdale. The ambiance is great as is the service and the food. I wish I lived closer so that I could go more often!

My wife and I love this place. The breakfasts are great. You can choose any combo of eggs and anything else to make your plate or get a set combo. I love the eggs with polenta spinach and Kim Chee. Unusual but it works. Coffee is fantastic. Prices are reasonable for the quality. The bathrooms are very clean as is the rest of the place. As for the guy complaining about«locals» not being welcomed is bs. The kids working there are local. I’ve lived in CC for 30 years and work construction and I have had no problem in my work clothes there. Perhaps the IGA supermarket deli counter is a better fit for some guys. Or O’s diner on 22. For me I’ll take Crossroads.

Great café for coffee and home made pastries. The menu is pretty cheap for what you get and the food is delicious. Everything they serve I’d be happy to have again and again. Oh, and the Scones! the best.

A great place for lunch in this quite town outside of Hudson, NY. Definitely wasn’t expecting the food I got. The Mac & Cheese is delicious! Great valu for what you’re getting as well. Worth a stop off the beaten path!

I would never go in there again. The owner/chef does not wear gloves nor does anyone in the kitchen. From the counter you can see staff preparing food and plating without gloves. It is a violation of health codes the way food is handled and prepared. I saw sneezing, sweating of brows being wiped, and food being touched before it was taken out to the other customers.

The kind of breakfast place you dream of stumbling upon! Creative menu with your breakfast standards(2 eggs and toast, pancakes) and some more uncommon additions(grits, smoked fish, special frittatas). I had eggs and braised greens with two slabs of beautiful sourdough toast and my boyfriend has the salt cod hash with eggs sunny side which was incredible. We also split a donut which was light and sweet with a hint of anise. The coffee isn’t spectacular but it isn’t burnt which is worth noting in this area. Definitely will be back to try some of the specials(like banana pancakes!) and sample more of the impressive pastry case. A nice change of pace in a land of reliable but predictable Egg-and-Cheese-and-Harney-Teas.

David and crew consistently deliver amazing food! Their local and organic produce is delicious. When you eat here you can expect creative combinations of delicious gourmet food in a relaxed upscale environment… All at reasonable prices. We’ve been going there for 2 ½ years have not been disappointed; it is part of our weekend ritual visiting our second home. You can enjoy delicious pancakes, as well as delicious gluten-free options. Savory meats& bacon and fantastic egg dishes, and sweet options also! Healthy vegetables and amazing fruit plates. We highly highly recommend Crossroads Food Shop! If you’re going to be in the Hudson Valley you really should not miss the special restaurant!

6 stars. Kinda bummed though that this Crossroads did not in fact seem to be named after Britney Spears’ epic 2002 road movie where she danced on a table singing«I love rock’n’roll.» The food made up for that however. Anyway, Crossroads is hidden off the street in a back parking lot up on the second floor. The entrance looks like it’s closed despite the big sign saying«restaurant open.» Enter, turn right and head up the stairs to a bright clean and attractive dining room with an open kitchen and counter service. Help yourself to ice water, napkins, and silverware. Breakfast menu is written on brown paper behind the counter, and included a lot of unusual locavore specials. Baked goods displayed on the counter were delicious and cheap. I had a great buckwheat currant mufffin topped with demerara sugar and poppyseeds for $ 1.50 that turned out to be gluten free and the ‘rents had an amazing scone($ 2). My breakfast special was a frittata with goat cheese, swiss chard, and local fresh corn for $ 8.50. It was superb. The ‘rents split 2 eggs over easy on black eyed peas and some other delectable vegetables($ 8.50), and an order of baked french toast($ 5). They loved it all. Cappuccino($ 3) was great and the waitress pleasantly refilled me with regular coffee when she swung by our table. The menu is slightly whacked in a good way, in that you can get things like salt cod hash with two eggs for breakfast($ 7). When was the last time you saw salt cod hash on a menu, right? There was plenty of standard stuff too, the breakfast sandwich looked great as it passed our table. I thought it was cheap money for the quality of food, great service, and a cool atmosphere. My parents loved it too. Wish I lived closer!

Awesome farm to table fare in Hillsdale, NY. Fresh ingredients and reasonably priced. A much needed addition to the area. Too bad they are not open for dinner.

Really wonderful food! It has it all, flavor, flair and healthy to boot. Their salads and sandwiches are second to none in Columbia County. And their transformation to a full service dinner spot is worth the wait. Well done.

You’ll need to look for the Crossroads or you may miss it. It’s kind of tucked in behind another store. Stopped in here to have breakfast. Interesting environment. Simple décor. Order at the counter and serve yourself to your napkins, utensils, water, milk/cream, and other items from a central table. I found this kind of weird. They do however serve the food and coffee to your table. Eggs, sausage, toast and coffee. Comfort breakfast. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would certainly stop in again.

I’ve been to crossroads numerous times for brunch and Dinner. Overall, I’d highly recommend for brunch but found the dinner to be underwhelming. Brunch– lots of great and creative egg dishes including hash, sausage, and bacon with shredded potatoes. The coffee is outstanding. Prices are very reasonable– I cannot imagine an unsatisfactory brunch experience. Five stars Dinner– although the the service and menu are great– the food was pretty bland. I ordered the pork chop, something you expect to be full of flavor– it tasted pretty boring. I had the soup special which was good, but again– not much flavor. Bottom line is there is a ton of potential, they just need to kick it up a notch or two. I would definitely go back again if they can improve the entrees. Three stars.

Stopped in for lunch. Sandwich cost close to 9 bucks and was OK but little expensive and was served with 3 pickle slices. I left still hungry.

Fabulous! In all good ways. Had a simple egg breakfast that was 5-star worthy — and here’s why: everything was delicious, cooked or baked perfectly with respect for the ingredients. It was not frous-frous(precious) as the location/name had me fearing — just simply lovely. Scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, cooked in a pan(as opposed to diner cook the life out of ‘em flat top cooked), the yummiest sausage I have had in quite some time, perfectly toasted bread served with unsalted room temp butter in a dish(not those annoying 1T individually wrapped packages). And the baked goods I had were great! Chocolate babka and a beignet. If I lived nearby I would go here several times a week, from breakfast to dinner. I only regret I wasn’t able to find this restaurant sooner(I’ve driven by a few times and couldn’t find it – yesterday I phoned!) Sunshine on a plate. Bravo!(And the interior is very pretty and bright with daylight)

Crossroads is consistently good. Tried it on three occasions over a five week period with groups of four each time and virtually everything we ate was delicious. The food is inventive without being pretentious and the atmosphere is homey and welcoming. A welcome and much needed addition to Hillsdale. Over the past two years I enjoyed many breakfasts, lunches and dinners at Cross Roads. For as good as it was when it opened, this place has gotten even better with time. For breakfast, the egg dishes are bliss and the biscuits scrumptious. Salads, sandwiches and soups at lunch combine simplicity with innovation and have never disappointed. And dinner — what can I say. Meat, fish, chicken or vegetable all satisfy in preparation, appearance and most if all taste. Of course save room for dessert and enjoy.

If the day-old biscuits are the best biscuits I’ve ever had, then what does a fresh biscuit taste like?(They offer(2) day-old for $ 1!) I have been to Crossroads a few times over the past year, and am truly amazed by the quality of food, the service, and the atmosphere. They always have delicious options for vegetarians/pescetarians. Possibly one tastiest lunches on the go was from there — swordfish with dill crème fraîche, wheat berry salad, greens, marinated carrots — $ 7! Not a huge portion, but filling and balanced. Last week I had the breakfast sandwich with egg, tomato jam, cheddar, on a big beautiful bun. Did not need lunch later that day. I went in on a day it was closed(oops we didn’t know), and the owner offered us free coffee and tea. And days when they are open regular hours, owner always greets us, staff at counter are sweet and accommodating.

I love the Dutch Treat just as much as the next person when a craving for banana pancakes and greasy homefries strikes, but when your looking for something fresh and innovative, Crossroads is the place to go. The set-up is a trifle odd, admittedly. I’ve done the whole«walk up the counter and place your order» thing before. That’s fine. However, except for being served your food and having your items bussed away, it’s all self-serve. A small table is filled with cutlery, napkins, water jugs, water glasses, various milks, sweeteners, jams, and jellies. My mother set the table for us.(Once a waitress, always a waitress.) It struck me as a bit peculiar. It’s such a small place and at least setting up napkins and cutlery for patrons should be a breeze, but, moving on… The food was excellent and fresh. I had cornmeal pancakes served with a fruit plate of sliced apples, pears, dried apricots, oranges, and bananas. The pancakes were relative small, which I actually preferred. Real maple syrup is the standard for serving, thank goodness. I had a rhubarb scone which was the perfect blend of crumbly yet moist. I partook of some of my father’s grits, which, in a slight oxymoronic twist, were exceptionally creamy. The sourdough toast was to die for. I prefer salted butter, but some sea salt added that slightly salty punch to my toast.(Yes. I salted my toast. I… may have a problem.) My parents and aunt all has egg dishes and were satiated. It’s a good bang for your buck. I think we had entrees plus coffee, tea, and scones for approximately $ 40 for four people. When I was only charged $ 6.50 for my pancakes and fruit, I was a bit floored. I’ve clearly lived in NYC for too long now. Good to be home where prices are reasonable. Ha! With the exception of odd self-service, this place is such a sunny delight. While comparing this place to the greasy spoon goodness of the Dutch Treat is like comparing apples to oranges, it might have some competition now!

I got the beef brisket sandwich from this little restaurant. I thought the bread was far too unstable to hold together a brisket sandwich of any sort, the brisket itself was tough, and felt like it had been made days in advance. The pancetta did very little to help the overall quality of the sandwich. On the long list of sandwiches I have tried in my life, this one falls deep towards the bottom of that list, slowly fading from my memory more and more each day. And, that doesn’t bother me in the slightest.
