I’m a smart consumer. I shop multiple grocery stores to get the best deal, I comparison shop before making large purchases, I search Craigslist and garage sales for things I don’t need new plus I know the rough value of most household items off the top of my head. I feel like I was destined to be a contestant on The Price Is Right. When it came time to shop for a sectional couch, I knew the search for the best value wouldn’t be easy. I started on Craigslist and was appalled at what some people called«pretty good condition» and«really nice pattern». Some of those pictures hurt my eyes. I then started stopping by furniture stores and checking out their clearance items. Yup, cheap, uncomfortable crap, as can be expected or ridiculously expensive, beautiful things. I then stumbled upon the site for The Home Experts. It all seemed too good to be true. The pictures were beautiful, the prices were incredibly inexpensive and the reviews were glowing. After looking at the site no less than 100 times, my roommate and I filled up the tank, made a playlist, packed a snack and programmed the GPS. Destination? Hillsboro. *shudder* We made an appointment with Jason, the owner, who was great on the phone answering my million questions before we made the trek. It should be noted that t’s not really a furniture store, it’s more like a storage space with some furniture samples. It’s cool, I don’t need a glamorous furniture store that tacks on the cost of their monthly rent onto each furniture piece. After dealing with a ton of douchey salesmen, it was a relief that Jason is nothing like that, he’s just a guy in a storage unit making a living selling discount furniture. I had exposed my derrière to a slew of stiff, poorly made sectionals so many times already, I was pleasantly surprised when I sank into the comfortable display models and felt like I was resting on a cloud. My roommate and I went back and forth between the two we were considering in a way that probably would’ve driven any other salesperson crazy but Jason was calm, cool, collected, and piped in with pertinent information to help us narrow it down. We left without making a decision yet I wasn’t pressured for even a second, just casually told I was welcome to place the order over the phone any time. Two days later I bought my sectional. And it is flippin’ awesome. So what’s the catch, right? Really the only catch is you have to wait for your furniture to be delivered, which took about two weeks. That’s it. The price was right, the service was friendly and the furniture is well-made. I would recommend The Home Experts to anyone and everyone looking for new, inexpensive furniture. I should probably mention I Googled the manufacturer’s name and found a ton of other people selling the same furniture. What I bought, a six-piece modular sectional, for $ 785( ) was listed on another website for $ 1599( ). I’m feeling pretty damn proud of my purchase.
