Always super helpful. Tina helped me find gifts for a charity event and Christmas presents for some young people that they loved! She supports downtown and the local community. They have local authors do book signings and support the farmer markets. You won’t find nicer folks.

Just what you think of when you imagine that perfect little book shop! Darling place! Darling people! At Christmas we needed just that little something so that’s where we went! It was perfect! Books to interest every reader, with the cozy feel that makes you want to take the time to really look the books over! Our After School martial arts students go there at least once a month either to just hang out, or get a book for the dojang. Give them a visit. :)

Love this book store. The owner Tina is delightful and so helpful. I buy and swap many books here! And she even ordered in some used books she did not have in stock. Great customer service. I love shopping local!

I love independent bookstores. This one is great. They have new and used books including the Where’s Also series that is back in print. They do activities with kids. One beef… they close early on Monday… checked in as I was walking down the street and find them closed. Oh well… I will be back tomorrow..

Jacobsen’s in downtown Hillsboro is a quaint little used and new bookstore. The shelves are intermixed with both throughout. For the most part the books available are pretty good reads. I don’t recall seeing any junky old books, they are seem to be in really good condition for the used materials. The kids section, though extremely small, has some very good books too and a little play area for the children. I would definitely compare the prices and quality of books offered to that which is offered by Powells. So you can save yourself a trip east and check here first for your books. However, they are much, much, much smaller, so they have much much much less to offer in variety. The drawback to this shop other than what I stated above, is it’s size and how much they are trying to cram into it. Sure, an adult on foot could navigate through here with ease with no complaints. However, it is not ADA friendly, nor is it stroller friendly at all. It is so hard to navigate this store with children in tow, yet they have such a nice little children’s area. Unfortunately most parents are going to forgo the childrens area because it is hard to even get in there with a stroller. Honestly, I think this shop really needs more space… that or to get rid of some things to increase traffic flow and ease of passage through the shop. I mean, it is challenging just getting to the cash register because of all the shelves and such in the way. Because of these issues, I tend to avoid shopping here. Sad, because I love supporting local businesses.

My very favorite family owned bookstore. Downtown hillsboro is such a gem with the array of wonderful small locally owned businesses. Tina is the sweetest woman and owner and even though she might not have every book under the sun in stock(like Barnes and Nobel) she can order anything and it will be there is just a couple days. I personally would much rather support a local family owned store than a big box store. Please go check this place out, you will enjoy it. There is a lovely children’s area with books and toys to keep little ones occupied. They carry an incredible selection of books by local authors, have authors on site each week during the farmers market, and always offer a discount even on brand new books on the listed price.

An excellent local bookstore. I get almost all of my books right here, new and used. The owner is super helpful in hunting down any crazy thing you might want to read as well as carrying an interesting selection of books to browse. My children loved the storytime when we lived close enough to attend. Now that we are too far it’s a special treat to slip away and visit the bookstore!
