Even though Geroge wasn’t working on the day I called in to see if they had a part for my slash, the gentleman that answered was able to find what I needed and knew exactly what I was looking for. They had exactly what I needed. Again you guys are great, keep up the good work and wonderful customer service!!!

Was out riding my bicycle and stopped in to see if they would have a wing for my Pkz f4u corsair. To my amazement they did (discontinued a while ago) and when I told the older guy working the register I might be back to get it (couldn’t carry it on my bike, plus I wanted to make sure it was the right wing) the old owner lady grabbed the wing and muttered under her breath «or you can’t afford it» I was pretty appalled and left. They will not be getting my business even if it’s the only place that has my wing! RUUUUUDE! And they are pricey. I saw some stuff in there I had seen at other shops for almost $ 100 cheaper (rtf planes and such). Poor customer service, sad.

RUDE RUDE RUDE! I have yet to have a good experience with them. Not only do they have horrible customer service but they are way over priced.
They first time I went there was to get a gift certificate. I bought a $ 50 gift certificate, and completely walked out with it. Whoops! I went back in and said «hey, forgot to actually get the card for the gift certificate.» The owner freaked out! She Accused me of trying to scam her! Said she wasn’t going to fall for it! I was in shock! Her husband walked over and handed me my gift card that she had left behind the Counter!
Don’t go here if you expect to be treated like a customer! Expect to be treated like a thief!

I’ve lived 2 blocks from Hillsboro Hobby now for over six years and in that time have interacted with the owner and all the staff on numerous occasions.
Not overly personable, not overly knowledgeable, not the best prices but by far the BEST as far as convenience and follow through.
I rarely buy model kits but when I want the latest kit I can be sure to find it here.
I quite frequently purchase brass supplies, wood supplies and plastic supplies and here too Hillsboro Hobby has all I need but also they offer a complete selection of plastic parts that can be ordered if whats available is not of use.
There are also RC Supplies, Rocketry Supplies, Doll House Supplies and a plethora of HO Train and diorama supplies available. A wonderful Hobby Shop with that difficult to find Small Town feel. Highly recommended!

The staff at the shop were very helpful. They helped us get what we needed for our project and gave us tips on how to make the paint job last longer. We were offered several options so that we didn’t have to spend a lot of money. Great selection for a small store!

Everything is overpriced by a wide margin. Why would I pay $ 10 for a 3″ servo extension cable when I can get 10 for $ 6 on amazon?
Also, no multicopter parts. At all. Not that they would have the cheap parts that I buy from hobbyking, but it would be nice to get parts in an emergency if needed.
And why no arduino? Arduino is a major player in robots, rc cars, and now helis, planes, and multicopters.
This place needs to get into the 21st century, start being nice to people that don’t want to spend tons of money (yes, they do that, especially the old guy) and start carrying broader, less expensive parts. I know it’s a small, local business, but I’m not about to pay 4 times as much for something just so I can be treated like crap for asking questions and using my debit card,

Love this place. Right in the middle of the remodeled nostalgic Hillsboro with it old time Hillsboro Pharmacy still with the soda and ice cream shop inside, is the Hillsboro Hobby Shop. They have everything from the traditional to the most modern of hobbies. You can buy balsa wood and doll house kits or you can buy RC planes, heli’s and rock crushing off road trucks. They are knowledgeable and if they do not have it, they can get it. Go see them!

Back before the days of the web zones and interwebs there was this thing called a hobby shop. It was a place that a boy or girl could go to forget the hum drum world around them and embark on adventures of the mind and spirit.
This store is for anyone who thinks that fun means opening a box filled with hundreds of parts, then spending hundreds of hours carving, sanding, assembling and painting. This place is truly unique and quite a find in the middle of Hillsboro. They have everything you need from wooden model ships, trains, planes, automobiles. Also they sell model ships made from wood; a practice that I’m afraid is being forgotten.
So, if you have a whole bunch of time to kill, want to learn new skills, and no MMORPG taking up all your time, stop on by! You’ll be happy to see real world skills and a the charming shop owner to ask for advice.
