Frisch’s Big Boy

How in God’s name does this place have 4.5 stars?
The bread on my husband’s patty melt was tough. I ordered the small fish sandwich so I wasn’t expecting some monster sandwich. But when it got to the table and I opened it up there was some very good tartar sauce, lettuce, and one fish stick. I felt ripped off but I suppose I should have known better for ordering off the cheaper menu. However, it was a pretty good fish stick.
I also ordered the onion rings which were the main cause of my distress. I ate one of them. They looked nothing like the menu picture, which had a tasty beer-​battered look to them. They came out with a plain, sandy, plain breadcrumb kind of coating.
Admittedly I am an onion ring snob but even my non-​persnickety Husband frowned and put it back on the plate.
When I told the waitress I’d like them taken off the bill, however, she was friendly enough about it. A manager came over and talked to me about it and how they made the onion rings. She was nice too.
I gave the place 3 stars because even though the food was definatly sub-​par, the place was clean including the restrooms, the salad bar was in good shape too, and the service was good.

Very happy with the service and food. The vanilla Pepsi is the best. Love late breakfast bar.

We their today the food was hot a delicious. Our waitress was awesome thank you Keisha.

Always great service and most of the staff know me by name. Food is on par or better than Big Boy’s in the area.

Meal (****): I immediately opted for the mushroom Swiss Burger. I went for the side salad with Italian dressing instead of french fries. I could tell there was an incentive to sell us the fries but I stood my ground. Everything came out quickly, and everything was as delicious as I expected.
ambiance (***): it must have been because it was a Sunday, but there were an inordinate amount of children that were being very loud. It was a little distracting. The building itself was a little contrived. Something about the décor made me feel a little uneasy.
Service (****): our waitress was very good. she made sure we had everything we needed and didn’t push the platter option too much.

So far. So good. Didn’t wait long at all and the waitress was pleasant and asked me exactly how I wanted my food. Told her I needed to move my car and she suggested I order so they could start cooking it while I did tha which was a good idea. I ordered two eggs over medium turkey sausage and hashbrowns well done. What sucks is they don’t have sour dough toast my meal came out good.
