I had a party of 4 that arrived right after they opened on A Tuesday, so we had the place to ourselves. Our food still took a while to come out, but it was all pretty good. We were all craving Mexican, so everyone ordered from the south of the border section on the menu: Mexican combo, burritos and chimichanga. The rest of the menu was tempting though, I would like to go back again and try their burgers and quesadillas. Service and food were both great. The dessert menu looked amazing, we shared a friend ice cream but I would have eaten the whole thing by myself in a heartbeat! The décor is a little off the wall(pardon the pun), there’s random stuff everywhere.

Decided we needed to give this a try as we drive past nearly every day. Good decision. Weeknight dining, busy but not crowded. We were seated immediately and the wait staff was prompt and friendly. Our margaritas came quickly and were tasty as well as potent. Husband had a philly cheese sandwich which he pronounced was the best he’d had in ages and I enjoyed my quesadilla. Will be back to try more on the menu. Large dining area and nice patio.

Poorly made food, will not be returning. Service was slow and the food was bland. Costs was high for the poorly made dishes

Stopped in for the first time yesterday. Loved it! Sad that we haven’t been before! The Cuban was awesome! We will definitely be back!

Everybody loved their food. The Rojas Vieja was a crowd pleaser. My hamburger with blended chorizo was quite tasty. The staff was friendly, and we’ll definitely return for another round of Louie’s Grill.

My husband and I go here every couple of months and always go for brunch, growing up my family always went to Starliner(and waited 30+ min) for the plantains and breakfast burritos, now we come here with no wait! Haven’t ventured off the breakfast menu, but never really disappointed!

Great service. Order the chicken nachos and margarita. Breakfast on weekends are busy… Come early… Order huevos rancheros. One of the best restaurants in Hilliard.

We used to love the fish tacos here but on my recent visit I found them to be very disappointing. Stale tortillas and horrible frozen fried fish. They looked like popcorn chicken from Long John Silvers and tasted even worse. 90% breading and zero flavor. Very upsetting.

So, it’s not nearly as eclectic as Starliner, in terms of décor, however I would have to rate this experience higher than our last few trips to Starliner. Apparently anything with the beef brisket is going to be amazing, as both me and my husband had brisket dishes and were equally satisfied, but OMG, the flavoring by far surpassed Starliner! The plantains were yummy, however the unexpected chips and salsa was good, too. The salsa was so fresh and oniony, and perfectly hot. And draft beer. 32 oz! Needless to say, we are full, happy diners, and the hubs says we didn’t break the bank. :) Btw, the service was wonderful! Our waitress was friendly and genuinely interested in us having a good experience. We did.

I stopped here based on a friend’s recommendation. Chipotle crab chowder is so over-seasoned you don’t taste the crab. It is also overpriced for what you get. Fusion Pasta for being a hodgepodge of this and that lacked any real flavor. Also at $ 14.99 it is overpriced. Service was excellent. To be fair this place probably deserves a second chance. My expectations were high based on the recommendation. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.

Apparently, Louie was the head chef at Starliner Diner and took his recipes and opened his own restaurant, Louie’s Grill. Great mix of Cuban, Mexican, Cajun.

Born and raised in Hilliard and this is always one of my favorites! Décor and atmosphere is nothing special but the food and service has always been great and I’ve been here MANY times! Chipotle crab chowder is always a must, I literally get it every single time. Always check out the specials menu! It’s by the bar hand written on the white board, that’s where I seem to get the best stuff. Definitely recommend for a causal meal!

We met friends here last night. It is very similar to the Starliner, although the décor is not nearly as funky. The food was amazing. Everyone loved what they had. From burritos, to tacos to slow cooked Cuban style brisket. Even the grilled pizza bread salad. All amazing. They do have more seating and can handle large parties. I say check it out.

This place is supposed to be owned by the same folks as the starliner diner. I see very few similarities. I’ve been here probably a dozen times — food is almost always cold. Last time the cook put our food up, rang the bell, and the waitress continued her conversation with a friend who had stopped in for a chat. Five minutes later I had to ask her to go get our food. Guess what — it was cold. I don’t care what the wait time is at the starliner — STAYTHERE!

My wife and I get into arguments over whether to go to Louie’s or Starliner Diner, but Louie’s wins more often mostly based on convenience. They lack the kitchy cool interior and sometimes I’m just jonesing for the Creole Mac that I can only get at Starliner, but Louie’s has them beat on size, cleanliness, parking, and patio seating. The food is generally about equal. Ropa Vieja is my go-to dish and it is always excellent. Almost every time the inlaws are in town, we go here for brunch and it never disappoints. From omelets to chilaquilles to hash, everything gets praised. Definitely, this is a place you should check out if you like good cuban food.

Reading other reviews of this place made me leery… Especially the weird service part. I must have been here on a good day, because my brunch was not too shabby and while the service was very blasé. I don’t think it would deter me from not coming back. The ambiance of the place is very open. There’s really no intimate areas to this restaurant, so probably not the best for a date night… let’s be honest. However, for Sunday brunch it does the trick. There was plenty of seating despite an atrociously full parking lot. I thought the breakfast here was a hell of a lot better than Starliner, and I made a point to order things close to what we ordered while there. The breakfast quesadilla was on point and not some massive cheese gorge-fest. The potatoes that were served were freakin’ amazing. They were cooked to perfection… again, unlike my experiences with Starliner. The husband got the breakfast burrito, but didn’t realize they used red sauce on top of it, so it kind of ruined it for him, but we switched plates and both of us ended up pretty happy and content for the most part. I can’t speak for lunch or dinner, but what I’ve seen doesn’t look all the terrible, but stranger things have happened. I’ll make a point to come back for lunch/dinner to see if my mind changes about this place, but so far Breakfast is where it’s at. So, I guess get here early before the servers turn crabby. All in all. a decent Sunday morning breakfast spot. I would gladly return for the time being.

I ordered a shrimp quesadilla. The shrimp was very undercooked. The nachos we got as an appetizer were decent. This review started as a 3 star review for undercooked food. I sent my entrée back. When the waitress brought me the check it showed $ 47. I questioned the waitress because we had one entrée, an appetizer and a kids meal. No way those numbers added to $ 47. I added them up and they were $ 24 and change. She then argued with me until she added them up and realized her error. No apology or anything. The food really wasn’t anything special. I won’t be back.

Was a nice wrong turn! We were heading to the Rusty Bucket but given the one way entrance– we missed the turn– needless to say we ended up here– and what a great surprise– no wait on a Friday at 7… I got the chicken fusion sandwich and it was literally a perfect combination of flavor not to mention the unique sweet potato fries on the side!!! The chicken was juicy and had a great mesquite flavor. My husband got the fajitas with chicken steak and shrimp and they didn’t skimp– also– a rare feature these days… It actually came out sizzling! We will definitely be going back as there are several different options on the menu to pick from! Worth a try for a unique surprise!!!

We stopped by Louie’s when Starliner Diner was estimating an hour wait. No thank you! I was actually surprised there weren’t more people at Louie’s, there were plenty of open tables around noon on a Saturday. The space was open and bright, definitely good for larger groups or kids. Overall the food was good, but nothing mind-blowing. We started with chips, salsa and queso($ 4.50), which were all pretty good. Bummer we had to pay for chips but whatever. The salsa was good and had chunks of tomato and onion. Tasted pretty fresh! Bf opted for a burrito, which came with a super tasty salsa verde. Definitely good(and huge for around $ 9). I went with a small Veracruz salad($ 5) and the Chile Rellenos from the appetizer menu($ 8). The salad was very refreshing and bright, with lots of tartness coming from the lime vinaigrette and chopped tomatillos. The Chile Rellenos were good, but I was unprepared for the amount of cheese. I couldn’t tackle both of them. I’m not a huge fan of smoky sauces(which this came with) but that’s me, not them. Luckily we had a $ 5 off coupon from the Entertainment book, so we cashed that bad boy in. Overall an enjoyable casual and quick lunch, may stop back in if we’re ever in the area but I doubt we’ll ever go out of our way.

I got a fusion chicken sandwich. Cajun spiced grilled chicken breast with pepper jack, lettuce tomato avocado and a spicy ranch. It was really good, and I will be back very soon to try some other things. Highly recommended

I love Louie’s and frequently choose to go there over Starliner diner. The owner and wait staff are extremely friendly and personable and they remember you when you come in. My favorites are the fish tacos, plantains and for brunch the sweet potato omelette and veggie breakfast burrito. I’ve taken many of my friends and family there and they are always impressed.

There are such wonderful options here. They have the Cajun Pasta dish that has noodles with chicken, shrimp, and sausage in a cream sauce. It is very flavorful and is my favorite dish they make.

Very good food experience Just driving around the neighborhood of Hilliard and happen to see Louie’s Grill so stopped in. I was unaware that they served South American foods, but I am usually game to see what I place has to offer if I have never been. We were seated immediately and helped by our very speedy waitress(she was moving VERY fast, not a problem for me). I went with the breakfast enchilada with egg whites and Plantains. It did not take long for my food to come out and it was hot. The enchilada was served with home fries which did not have much seasoning, but a little ketchup solved that. The enchilada was very good, there was sour cream and lettuce on the side to cool down the chorizo sausage inside. These were all soft texturally so I put in a some of the crunchier home fries with the enchilada, sour cream and lettuce. This gave a dynamite bite! The perfect texture and flavor mix. The plantains were also extremely good, some of the best I have ever had. I will definitely be back again.

Chipotle Crab Chowder and Plantains are the two reasons to come here. I have been here numerous times and enjoy those two menu items the most. I tried a Cuban and my wife tries the Fusion Chicken and we both were very pleased with our meals. I would order this meal to go again. The to Go service was pretty quick for a Friday night as the food was ready in 15 minutes. I have eaten inside a few times too and I have liked it. I do remember that the service wasn’t quite so quick inside on all occasions but that could be true of many places. We have ordered a few things here that I would not order like the Mofango Chicken which is very dry. That is the one I would say was the most memorable let down for me but I know one or two other things were a let down too. They have a decent brunch/breakfast to hit up if Starliner is packed. This place is almost never full so you can get in and get out faster than other restaurants as long as service is on its game. I have noticed that they are very strict with their coupon policy as they use to have a BOGO then in the middle of the year they switched it to only $ 7 off. Even though the coupon did not have the same limit on it and it was for the whole year. So I can see where other reliable Unilocalers have complained about service could be true.

A day later and I am still furious about this place! Outside it looks nice, inside more like a cafeteria with no thought or love put into it. Our waitress was nice and saved me from totally losing my cool but the«manager» a total b*tch! I ordered the Louis salad and my husband the bacon cheeseburger. My salad was not a salad at all, it was sauteed veggies, thats it! I tried it and while it was nice totally disgusting, it was not a salad, it was a fajita without a shell and not what I wanted. I brought ot back to the kitchen and said I was expecting a salad and got into a huge discussion being told it was indeed a salad. I ordered the Veracruz and when they brought it out to me they said I would still have to pay the $ 9 for the first salad. Then it was on! I couldn’t help but get loud, I refuse to pay for something I took one bite out of and sent back so I told them I didn’t want the second salad, they told me now its made I will pay for both. Finally when the«manager» left our waitress said not to worry, to enjoy my salad and I would be charged only one salad. The veracruz was extreamly tiny, very sour and not a meal at all, it was simply lettuce, one strip of avocado and a ton of lime juice. Then on our bill was the $ 9 for the salad I didn’t eat instead of the $ 7 for the salad I did eat. She told me she couldn’t change it and that I should be happy I wasn’t charged for both. Then We sked them to break a bill for us and she kept the change. We asked for change and she calculated her own tip and gave us change. So we asked for the tip back as well and left extreamly aggravated, what a horrible dinner, I really hope they close down, I saw them try to rip all the tables around us off by asking if they wanted chips and salsa, and only one couple caught on and asked if it was free, nope the rest of the patrons would be charged $ 2.75 for each bowl they get. Greedy bastards!
