One of if not the best breakfast spot in all of the highlands area. The place never seems that clean or tidy or even up-kept but the food is great and you get a lot for a reasonable price. All their baked goods from cakes to bagels to cookies are also very good. My dad and I always go there and he says they have great food but a big gust of wind might blow the place away haha. Very nice staff and very accommodating. Definitely a great breakfast and lunch stop if your in highlands

I returned Sunday with my wife for breakfast. Amazing. Homemade cinnamon raisin french toast and their yogurt granola with fruit, and yes their own whole wheat bagel. Plus a free gluten free home made dogbone for our dog. We mentioned to one of our servers Maureen that we were there for a walk with our dog and she treated us. Kim, our other server was great too. We’ll be back

The food is delicious. The best bagels I have had, and also cheap. The coffee could be better.

Stopped by after we visited the lighthouse museum, located in a small little town, we bought some pastries and coffee, the coffee was very good! They can work on a selection of more coffees, and pastries, but they where good, I got a chocolate Ganesh cupcake not to sweet which was good. I thank them for not kicking us out, cuz my little nephew started to cry and my aunt made a lot of noise trying to calm him down. But if your looking for a cute village type coffee place this is your place.

This place is hit or miss. Been here a few times and had okay food experiences all times. Thought the place seemed dirty all times. Just look around at décor, floors, bathrooms, etc. and service depends on who you get. You may have someone who is super sweet and social or someone very grumpy. We found their baked goods to be mediocre also.

First off we had trouble finding a table because there were no clean tables. They just left everyone’s dirty dishes. Then sat there for 15 mins. Without anyone even coming over to take our order or say they’d be there soon to help.

I had the most amazing birthday breakfast! I live in Highlands and go to this place for breakfast frequently. They have a nice selection of French toast, pancakes, and even waffles with Bananas Foster. They have great desserts too, there is nothing like their coffee cake! On a Benny-busy July morning we, a party of 2, went to the Bay Avenue bakery at 10AM. We were seated within five minutes, at a tiny little table, but at least we got a seat. The waitress asked us if we wanted to order drinks right away, and our drinks came just that fast. There were a loud group of young kids next to us, but they were all on vacation I think so it was expected that they would be excited. I ordered a cheesesteak from the lunch menu. It was listed as Angus steak, peppers and onions, chorizo and cheese. I asked for it without the roll, and with two scrambled eggs on top. It arrived at the table with in 15 minutes. It was flippin fantastic! The steaks were sliced thin, but were seasoned very well. My eggs were not too salty or runny. The peppers and onions were caramelized perfectly. I will definitely go back and order this again! I would advise you all to take a look at the pastries in the case. By the way, they also have their own brand of soda. Well done gang!!!

Love this place for breakfast. Their crumb cake is amazing!!! And the lunches we have grabbed to go including the chili have all been great. The staff is warm. If you are trying to diet go for the Healthy Stack… But save room for that crumb cake. Trust me.

I can’t say enough about this little local spot! Their bagels and other baked goods are made on premises and are fantastic! They serve great(and very reasonably priced) meals from 6:30a-6:00p and their specials(always good) change daily. They even make organic dog treats! The staff is always friendly and eager to help.

The most delicious crumb cake I’ve ever tasted in my whole life(and I make a delicious one!) It was just the right balance of moist and dense, with a fabulously, gooey ribbon of brown sugar goodness throughout the cake. It was topped with the perfect amount of buttery crumb topping. The best I’ve ever had, hands down. I want more right now…

This is the best bagel, and accordingly, the best bagel sandwich around. Bay Avenue Bakery isn’t much to look at and the service is hardly polished, but the food they make is too notch. I’m generally new to the world of bagels — I’m a transplant from the south — but the bagels here compare favorably to the best bagels in NYC. They’re made in-house and are always fresh. I have occasionally strayed from bagels and haven’t been disappointed but truly baked goods are the show stopper here. PS: custom cakes from here are gorgeous and delicious.

Favorite breakfast spot in the Highlands! Biscuits and gravy are the most delicious food I have ever eaten. Great Coffee. Friendly service. Even tables to sit outside! I like their omelettes the most, but I prefer eggs in the morning!

I really like this cute little place… the food is fresh and always delicious… and the cupcakes are to die for! Breakfast is good – love the biscuits and sausage gravy. That’s saying something because I am from the south. Also, had a special today of Angus and Chorizo cheesesteak with peppers, onion, cilantro and pepperjack cheese — was off the charts! Homemade soups I have tried have been quite tasty as well. Go here… much better than any diner!

I love everything about this place, except for the service! The food here is awesome! I am here at least once a week for breakfast or lunch. The food really hits a missing niche in the highlands area. The pastries are amazing and always taste fresh! Good coffee, omelettes, love their specials, awesome lunch sandwiches, and the best bagel sandwiches! My only complaint is that you can expect to wait a long time for your food(take out or eat in) and that on a busy a day the wait staff seems to be in constant state of chaos. When I first started visiting Bay Ave Bakery I did not mind waiting a little but longer than usual for my food(20 – 30 minutes on the weekend). Good, freshly cooked food is always worth waiting longer for in my mind. The problem comes when they are busy and your coffee never gets refilled or plates aren’t cleared. The wait staff is extremely friendly, just a bit disorganized! I really want this place to get it together because I love it! However, the last few times I have brought out of town visitors to Bay Ave for brunch, the experience ended up being a bad one, even though the food was great!

Delicious everything… seriously. Down homeyest of the down home diners. The wife and I each got a bagel sandwich from their fresh baked bagels. We also picked up a dozen fresh cinnamon sugar donut holes freshly made. Our host that weekend managed to get an order of sausage biscuit and gravy. They have a bunch of other pastry offerings as well as cupcakes. You really won’t be disappointed with any choice here.
