Recreation Center Northridge

I’ve never been to this rec center before, but yesterday my boyfriend brought me here so we could test our new snorkel gear before we go on a cruise. This place is huge! We were greeted by a friendly woman at the front desk who gave us directions to find the indoor pool. They have awesome lap lanes (indoor and outdoor), a 12′ diving pool, a jacuzzi and the locker rooms even have a «dry sauna». I was bummed that this rec center didn’t have a unisex steam room/​sauna though. The lap lanes inside were a little chilly, but one of the lifeguards informed us that they keep it «heated» at a lower temperature for the advanced swimmers that practice there. The diving pool was a lot warmer, and the jacuzzi was fantastic after I froze in the lap pool. But tread carefully in there! The bubbles from the jacuzzi make the corners of the benches invisible and it’s very easy to stubs your toes on them, as well as on the drains. I liked this place because it wasn’t swarming with people and we were able to practice snorkeling without any interruptions. The lifeguards seemed a little bored though because of how slow it was in the pool area. Overall, my first experience here was a good one and I wouldn’t mind coming back!

I love this place. I took my snorkeling gear with my girlfriend to practice before our cruise. The recreation center had HUGE lap pools and a diving pool (not to mention the outdoor pools too!). All we needed was a lane for ourselves to practice in. The pool was very clean however it was a little cold for being heated. The diving pool was deeper and somehow way warmer. There was a clock by the lap pool I used as a timer to see how fast I could swim and hold my breath. It was all around a good experience. The jacuzzi was very nice and refreshing after I was done trying out my gear.
The only drawback about this place: there is no unisex steam/​sauna room. The dry sauna was located in my locker room. My gf and I wanted to enjoy ourselves and use it before we left, but to no avail. The Eastridge and Southridge rec both have a unisex steam/​sauna room.
Overall a great experience with good parking. I will come back.

Best gym for power lifting. They have a separate mat with enough room all around to do deadlift or clean and jerk. Plus an extra bar to use so you don’t have to use the one in the squat rack.
Gym is usually not very crowded especially after 5. There are hardly any high schoolers at this location, unlike Eastridge which just streams kids from Highlands Ranch high school.
Plus it’s right next to my office!

Love the employees, the sauna and the people who come here.
The showers would be better is you could control the temperature instead of burning yourself… but other than that great place.

I like the idea that I don’t have to wait on a treadmill here.
