Local Go To for solid, cheap, good Mexican food. Tostadas and steak tacos are a winner here.

The food is pretty good but they are never open on time. Always 5 – 10 minutes late.

The steak burrito here is one of the best around the nwi area for mexican take out. It’s just simply delicious. They pack it to the brim with steak and the ingredients used are fresh and crisp. Salsas are tasty and compliment your meal to make it even tastier. When I pick up mexican food, this is my first choice. What separates this place for me is the rice. Most places have a plain Jane rice with no flavor where as Rancho Grande’s rice tastes more authentic and has a good flavor. The service is always flawless and they have never goofed up my order.

This place is the essence of quality of quantity. Is very cheap but you don’t get much but you get what you pay for. By far the best Mexican joint in NWI.

Three stars for experience sand decent food. Food was better than your average hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. Small restaurant and was very cold in dining room, you can feel a draft every time someone opens the door. I ordered a steak Tampiquena with a cheese enchilada. I was looking forward to a mole enchilada but cashier says they don’t offer mole anymore. They need to update menus.

The food here was below average. I expected a better experience given the price of the food. 3 meals came out to $ 30. I ordered a torta. It was dry. Barely any meat or beans. The lettuce and tomato’s over powered the meat and beans. That’s not a true torta. I was told by some elders that their food use to be way better than this 10 or more years ago but now it has changed drastically to the point that they don’t visit it on a regular basis like they use to. I won’t be coming back here.

I’ve been visiting the Rancho Grande since the early 2000s and their food is always consistently delicious. My favorite meals: Any of their Lenten specials: Their fish tacos are delicious! The fish is cooked very well, flavorful but not overpowering. The toppings are perfect. Chiles rellenos is divine. The platter of food is large, the pepper is deliciously cooked. Many of their other meals are tasty as well. Tortas and burritos are always a go to when I’m not sure what to order. Their horchata is perfect! All in all, this place is a tiny little hole in the wall that was an awesome discovery. Their prices err on the more expensive side but the authentic Mexican flavor is worth it.

Quick review: open late, quick, clean, def above average food(sorry, but Maria Buena Cocina takes the cake) and very affordable. Not much of a dine-in place but just a handy place to pay a quick visit. Their tacos tend to be a little too small but you get what you pay for. Recommended!

The only thing I have had here were the fish tacos. I thought they were okay but nothing fantastic. I wish they would have other options than just fried fish. I didn’t think the pieces of fish were that great and I thought the taco was a bit tasteless. The tortillas were falling apart– homemade tortillas itself would be a huge upgrade. Given there are little to no other options for fish tacos this would be your go-to place but I feel there is a huge room for improvement.

Everytime my husband and I order from there, he gets the burrito suiza and I get chicken tacos … Mmmmm, deliciouso! The only place around that I know of that offers shredded chicken tacos. The chips and salsa is also a great addition. The last few times that we’ve ordered their salsa though, it just hasn’t tasted right. In a way, it’s sort of tasted like puke, Besides that I’m still a fan.

Definitely a fan after our visit, and not much keeping TBRG from the ever elusive 5-star status. Fairly small inside, but managed to fit a group of 10 without much effort. Prices were average, consistent with the current burrito market. Our cashier was friendly, helpful, no rush for us to order. Food was ordered and delivered to our tables within ten minutes. Everything was fresh, chips, salsa, and guacamole were excellent. Had a fat day, so I thought I’d try their tongue chimichanga. First impressions, it was covered in nacho cheese, and on the smaller side of most burritos/chimis I’ve had in the past. Not a big fan of the nacho cheese, chihuahua or a different white cheese would’ve been my choice. Fortunately, it got better as I went on. Plenty of meat, cheese, and beans inside, layered evenly throughout. Grabbed a fish taco too before we headed out. Nothing over the top, pretty basic. Fish, onion, cilantro, some dry slaw. I’ve had better… and worse. A solid taqueria overall, damn good food and prices, and a tweak or two away from perfection.

no frills or thrills, this place is simple, to the point, and down right damn_good. Picked out a few different items from the menu my first time there, we wanted a good sample to determine if this would be a good place to frequent, as many of the local mexican restaraunts can be very hit or miss. Steak Quesadillas — Barbacoa tacos — Chicken Sope all top notch. Fresh, full of good flavor and seasoning and properly priced! Goal!

I love their guacamole, homemade chips & salsa, & pork tacos. Fabulous! Saturdays & Sundays they serve menudo, carnitas & barbacoa, which my husband loves. They also have freshly made horchata. Yum! This location is a small restaurant, with approximately 6 – 8 four-top tables, and do not serve alcohol.(East Chicago & Lansing only). They do have catering capabilities. And they are open until midnight 7 days a week! They offer breakfast menu, seafood, steak, vegetarian, combo meals, & even a discounted 10 pack of tacos. Did I mention the pork tacos are fabulous?
