Dick’s Sporting Goods

One of the worse shopping experiences I’ve had. I went in there to buy a treadmill. Sales associate there, Maurice, recommends the Sole brand of treadmills. They have three different selections to choose from. We choose one and he goes to see if they have it in stock. Nope. Maurice advises us to call another store as they show they may have some in stock (not offering to call himself). They do not. He says come back in a week. They have a truck delivering the following week and there may be one on that (a couple of days before sale ends). I call in a week. They did not receive that treadmill on the truck. I have a Dicks sporting good credit, but Dicks Sporting Goods website does not accept this line of credit so I must go into the store to order. (huh?) I go in and try to order. Turns out that this treadmill (they have advertised on their floor and I have been trying to chase down for a week) is no longer offered. Wait, what?! Nope, they don’t even sell these anymore. Didn’t sell them a week ago when I asked. So I have the option of spending another 200 $ for the upgraded model or buy a cheaper quality treadmill… or go somewhere else. Turns out I should have gone somewhere else. I went with the upgraded version of my original selection that came with free shipping as part of the sale. I special order in the store… which takes well over an hour (at one point Maurice asked me if I was going to punch him in the face). Two weeks later I do not have my treadmill. I call. It takes a minimum of two weeks for special orders… a fact that was not explained to me while I was ordering it but I sorta of remember it casually mentioned during my first visit that orders are a two week wait. Okay, but it has been two weeks… where is it or when will I have it? Nobody can say… they have 4 treadmills delivering sometime next week but they can’t say for sure if one is mine. I’m baffled. They fail to mention that it may take this long while I was ordering it and now they can’t even tell me how much longer it is going to be. How can that be? It is safe to say that this is the last purchase I will make with Dicks Sporting goods. I will be closing my credit account with them and finding another place to shop for my fitness needs.

I really like Dicks Sporting Good. I was really upset going there today to get my son football cleats. All the one he liked had to be ordered on line and take at least a week to get. If I wanted to order on line I never would have walked into the store. When I walk into a store I it’s because I want to walk out with the product I walked in for. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.

The Staff here are pretty amazing! I have been going since the store opener and I do notice a difference in Customer Service for the best! My last few visits were more than pleasant. I needed assistance with a few items and a member of the management team quickly found me assistance!

Can’t do much complaining about Dick’s… it’s a decent size, it’s usually clean and has plenty to offer, sometimes you gotta be careful on what you get from Dick’s, sale items are non returnable.
There’s not a big hiking section here, but they do have your standard water bottles and Camel Bak gear. As far as other fitness equipment goes, there’s a good variety. Everything from treadmills and weight benches to Soccer balls and water wicking tees. Prices are OK, some of the stuff is definitely a bit overpriced though.
The employees here are helpful and seem to know their sections well enough. Not saying they’re experts in sporting goods, but they’re definitely not inept.
I’ll probably check out Dick’s from time to time, there’s decent sales going on sometimes.

After hearing about Dick’s yanking all modern sporting rifles off the shelves following the most recent events, I will not shop here any more. Like I said, I was pleased with the help at the local store, but a corrupt corporate policy is enough for me to keep away.

Went there to return a pair of shoes that I had bought at the Orland park location. No one at the door offered to assist me. Once I figured out where the customer service/​returns line was, the cashier didn’t acknowledge me until I spoke to her. Sorry if you don’t like your job, not a reason to be rude. Got my refund and left. Don’t go there.
