Serene Nails

If I could give one minus a star j would. I foolishly gave serene a second chance. I am shocked any here are licensed for salon services. I had a painful pedicure, spa chair was broken and had a lip wax where It seemed the girl who did it was annoyed she had to and was not trained. Will never go back.

Clean and beautiful salon with reasonable prices. Large selection of nail polish colors and brands. Reduced prices on early week days.

Treated myself to a manicure day today. I’ve been going here ever since they opened and absolutely love them! I’ve always had consistently good service and you cannot beat their prices. They also very close to me so it’s not like I have to have a big trek to go get my nails done. Overall, I love their service and I love their choices of polish which primarily consist of Essie and Opi… can’t really beat that! Definitely recommend and will be coming back when I feel the need to treat myself again.

I was waiting for my 4.5 year old during her Sunday swim class & examining my scary looking nails. When she got out of the water «wow! You swam great today. Want to go for a special treat… a manicure!» (Translation– i really need a manicure and don’t have time all week so I’m only getting one if I take you with). Of course she was more than happy to oblige as long as we headed somewhere with pink sparkly polish. Your criteria too?
I called a few nail salons in the area and serene nails was the only one open on Sunday’s that could take us right away. It turned out I wasn’t the only one who’s nails needed some love because they were packed, but as promised squeezed us right in.
They have all the standard nail polishes and plenty of sparkles to choose from. The woman who did my daughters nails was incredibly patient as she was instructed to do a different color sparkle on each nail. She most definitely deserved an extra tip.
As it should painting my daughters nails took way shorter than mine so she had fun playing with the pedicure massage chair as my manicurist finished up. There were a few screams about a monster being in the chair trying to get her but everyone who worked there as well as the customers didn’t seem bothered by it.
My vinylux nail polish dried fast, which is good when dealing with bucking car seats minutes after a manicure. I went with a dark grey color (hello fall) and it wasn’t until more than a week later that I was re –examining my nails thinking about when I’d have time for a mani.

I really like this place because it’s clean, the staff is nice, soft spoken, never on their phones while working and I have never felt rushed. The ladies take their time, even when they are busy and I appreciate it because in some places they try to push you out the door when they have a lot of clients waiting. I feel that is unfair because it’s not like they give me a discounted rate when they do a half-@$$ job just so they can accommodate more customers. And I make an appointment 99% of the time. They also offer $ 3 off any service when you check-​in on Unilocal on Thursdays-​Sundays or $ 40 Mani/​Pedi on Mondays-​Wednesdays. Anyway, I would have given Serene Nails 5 stars if
1) the ladies do better with their massages
2) the quality of service is consistent
I called to make an appointment (my third time at this salon) yesterday and requested to see the lady who did my mani/​pedi on my last visit. She was better than the nail tech on my first visit so I wanted to make sure I get her again. Unfortunately, she was off. So obviously I was assigned somebody else. The lady seemed nice and she was patient; however, I got the feeling that maybe she is new or just not as good as the other nail techs I’ve had before. Plus, she has «heavy» hands and she over cut my cuticles! (photos posted) The advantage of her «heavy» hands is that she gives better massage. Another reason for my dissatisfaction: I decided to go with French pedicure (extra $ 5) and I asked her for a little thicker white tip. But she ignored my request. Either that or she did not understand me (?) Anyway, I prefer this place over Lotus Nails by S. Central so I would definitely be back. I just have to make sure that I ask for my preferred technician or ask Laura to assign me someone with more experience. Hopefully, my next visit will make up for yesterday’s visit. I would really like this place to be my go-​to nail salon.

Salon was extremely clean and in good condition. The massage chairs for the pedicure was great and the pedicure was really well done. My pedicurist was very efficient but detailed and gave a great leg massage! A little more on the pricier end. My pedicure was $ 32 (after $ 3 Unilocal discount for first time check in)

What a beautiful and clean salon. I been to so many places around the area but I am absolutely in love with Serene nail. The pedicure chairs are so comfortable. Thank you for sanitized clean tools.

Kind of a joke. I asked for a parafin treatment and when they finally understood what I asked for, they brought over two plastic bags each filled with the hot wax. This made it very hard to coat my hands. The technician said I could dip them directly in the wax so we went over to the container which was so hot because there was almost no wax in it. I would have burnt my hands if I had dipped them in. Finally, she took a plactic cup and poured the wax over my hands. Pretty silly place but nice massage while I was sitting with the wax on my hands.

Just stopped by because I had time in between appointments. They were able to take me right away. Friendly and courteous staff, clean and good selection of colors! Would definitely go back.

This much nicer than most of the salons around highland park area. The nail technicians are nice and friendly the salon is super clean and relaxing. My manicure from last week still looks as fresh! I will continue to be regular :)

I was able to get a same-​day appointment at Serene for a no-​chip manicure and pedicure ahead of a road-​trip to a destination wedding.

Pedicure — +1 it has held up extremely well.
No-​Chip — I’m neutral on this, because I have noticed that french no-​chip manicures don’t hold up that well, and I could’ve asked for an extra coat, but didn’t. This led to some chipping before the 2 weeks was up.
I would definitely go back again and try for a color rather than french.

I always get GREAT service, easy to book an appoitment. My mani easily last a week looking fresh ! It is my go-​to place. I would recommend to all!

It’s my favorite place to get spoiled. Exceptional staff and service. The salon is very modern and clean. The quality of products and services is superior to anything I’ve had before. A regular manicure will, truly, last for a whole week before starts to chip. My favorite manicure is the mood changing, no chip polish. All the technicians are very pleasant and knowledgeable. I, always, come out renewed, relaxed and with awesome nails.

I went there last week with a friend who lives in the neighborhood. She said it’s her favorite place to get pampered. And I am IMPRESSED! The salon was beautiful and everyone working there were super friendly! We got manicure and pedicure combos and it still hasn’t chipped yet!

I have not had nail polish on my hands on almost 8 years. Mom of boys here people! It’s just not worth the effort to keep it up. And usually my nails look scraggly in days.
But I needed a pick me up and decided to just try out this place and get my nails done. And now I’m hooked. Two weeks later and my nails are just starting to chip — which is quite shocking.
The technicians so far have been capable and efficient. You’re not going to have a true nail spa experience (it feels like a nail shop). It could be that I’ve been spoiled in the past by some of the spas in Chicago. But I’ve tried this place a couple of times and have been quite pleased.
In between manicures I thought I would try the nail polish change service. For 10 bucks you can’t beat it.
There are salons massage chairs for when you get a pedicure. And what I really like is they play movies so you have something to focus on while you’re getting your nails done. Really, I just zoned out in the screen — which is exactly what I needed.
Oh. I should mention the parking. There’s a teeny and cramped parking lot out front. The trick is there’s an additional one in back that has a staircase that leads you to the front of the stores in the building.

I had such a good experience at Serene Nail salon that I felt compelled to write a review. The salon is beautiful and well kept and clean. My technician Ari was very detailed oriented and made my nails look phenomenal. She took her time on both my manicure and pedicure and made sure the color was applied evenly which makes such a difference in the way your nails look. The staff was friendly and the whole experience was very relaxing and such a needed treat after my day. When I am in town again I will definitely stop in again.

So clean, a great variety of colors, and really, really pleasant people. On today’s visit, I came with my sister and mother for mani-pedi’s and — from appointment making to nail drying, everything and everyone was wonderful!
