Nooooooooohoooooooooo! WHYDIDYOUCLOSE??? You can’t do this to us. I have had shrimp in many places, but nothing was like M&M. Oh, greasy little heavenly blobs of crispiness, why did you have to go and break my foodie heart?

One of my favorite spots in Detrot. The cornmeal batter is perfect. Great late night spot.

I was very sad to see that both of the Miley and Miley locations have closed(as of September 2013). There is a big sign in the window thanking customers for 42 years of support. Whenever I traveled through Detroit, this is the place I would frequent. In fact, I would order A LOT of the amazing fried shrimp just so that I could bring them home to Chicago, freeze them, and enjoy them at a later date. The breading on the shrimp is like no other. Truly a gem of a restaurant. Maybe someone will re-open this business someday…

Battered and Fried Shrimp. not jumbo, just regular sized shrimp. nothing fancy, just salty greasy battered shrimp. I only go here if the rest of the places are closed. Weight wise the shrimp is about 40 pcs to a lb raw; so that gives you a better idea of how much you get. Its certainly not jumbo shrimp after they overfry it. The shrimp is about $ 20.00 for a pound so it’s really not a deal, considering that ¾ of the weight is grease and batter. yeah. after you peel the greasy batter off to get to the shrimp; you’ll see why I gave it two stars and a tums.

I miss this place so much. I remember driving my grandmother here to purchase two pounds of shrimp on Fridays. She would tear those bad boys to shreds. Don’t come here expecting a vegan dish or some veggie options. This is a shrimp shack. Everything is fried with shrimp in mind. The golden crisp batter is simply amazing and the shrimp definitely packs a punch(HUGESIZES). A must for any visitor or true Detroiter.

Does any one besides me remember the old school commercials that were advertised on television for Miley and Miley. Hilarious. Not intentionally though. The shrimp here is sold by the pound. Quarter pound, half pound, etc. No bubble gum shrimp just deep fried and over sized. They also serve whiting fish. The selections for sides are limited though, coleslaw and fries. This is a carry out place so I suggest calling in your order ahead of time, if not you’re in for a 20 minute wait. This is truly an old school restaurant, you get the hot sauce on the side in the small plastic containers.
