Lakewash Laundromat

— My review was removed and then I received THREAT messages from someone related to this business!!! I don’t know what reporting me to the BBB or Attorney General will do to improve your laundry services. You cannot threaten every dissatisfied customer because obviously, I am not the only one. — For the record, I am in no way affiliated to the laundromat world. I just lived in HP and washed clothes. I’d love to say that I was bribed with free detergent but it is just not true. My Experience:
I lived in the area since 1997. Lived several times in HP and always used this laundromat by default. One night I came in and they would not let me in to do laundry. I tapped on the glass door and the lady told me that they were closed, HOURS before the listed closing time. I Unilocaled another laundromat that was open and found one very nearby and found it to be a much better experience. It’s not my fault that Lakewash is tiny, with one tiny bench, and one folding table, and one TV that only plays spanish TV. Somtimes I’d be sandwiched on the bench between Sweaty and Smelly, reading a book because there was no wifi. Sometimes I’d stand in the corner, or have to wait for the folding table, or have to go for a walk because it was just too crowded in the tiny laundromay. It’s not my fault that I found the other facility to be waaay better and comfortably accommodating. It’s not rocket science.

nice clean place with modern washers abd dryers. last wash at 1030 pm. they have drop off wash, dry and fold service for $ 1.25 a pound with a minimum weight of 15 pounds. there are some nice new giant washers with 50 pound capacity. there is a tv with the sound on. turtlemen is a program i would never otherwise have become aware of… a big sign says no eating, perhaps contributing to why it is so clean in here. plenty of places to eat in the general vicinity here in downtown highland park.

While I can’t blame the locals for my landlord’s stinginess that denies me a W&D, I have had to do some serious searching to find a worthwhile laundromat. Lakewash isn’t the fanciest, cheapest, or by any means best laundromat in the world, but it is definitely one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen and it gets the job done without breaking the bank. I’ve tried a few other places in the area and this one is by far my favorite.
What’s good to know? There are three different sizes of washers (the biggest ones can easily fit a comforter) and the prices are clearly spelled out in charts on the wall. The dryers are 8 minutes per quarter and are super powerful — the real reason I keep coming back here. There’s free parking on the street or extra spaces in back. Plus, it’s conveniently located right in between the liquor store (aka: Ride Aid) and Stop & Shop if you want to sneak a snack between cycles.
