Glatt 27

First is first rate, always fresh and the deli has some great ready made things to take home for a hot day when I dont feel like cooking. Probably one of the best in the State of New Jersey

My New York friends are now coming to Highland Park to shop — fabulous selections of prepared and packaged food — butcher, fish, cheese — at ridiculously low prices.

Glatt 27 is a small Kosher supermarket. They carry baked goods, meats, frozen foods, and other international delicacies. They also have a reasonably priced deli and prepared food. I tried a dish that comprised of two breaded pieces of eggplant with broccoli salad in between. It was really good and fairly cheap.

I bought a soup from this store, brought it home and poured the soup into a pot to warm up. That’s when I heard a metallic thud as a metal «S» hook, that hangs in an industrial kitchen to hang pots, fell into pot. The owners of the store were arrogant and obnoxious when I brought it back saying «what do you want me to do about it»?

I stumbled upon the Unilocal listing for Glatt 27 just a few moments ago and was utterly bewildered and appalled by what I read! I was so shocked to read negative reviews, that although I NEVER write reviews, the thought of the rest of the world getting such a poor impression of such a fantastic establishment was utterly criminal!
Regardless, I have been a customer of Glatt27’s for the last 8 years or so, shopping a minimum of 1 – 2 times a week. I have always had a wonderful experience shopping there, though at times I certainly wished they had more physical space to accomodate for the all the customers, neverthe less my experience has always been positive.. Their meats and Chicken are far and away the highest quality and freshest available in our central NJ area, Their beef is never frozen, and to the best of my knowledge, the majority of the time they only sell domestic product, rather than the cheaper yet poorer quality imported product from Uraguay. The butcher is always helpful and curteous, will even slice chicken breast thin for me when I buy the more economical Family pack. Any specialty cuts of meat I have ordered are always beatifullly butchered and delivered on time.
There have been many times when I’ve made special requests for grocery items the stpre didn’t traditionally stock. In those cases the owners and employees have alway been responisve and accomodating. One time in particluar sticks out in my mind. I needed a Passover item right around Rosh Hashannah time and no one had it in stock. The item was KFP Confectioners Sugar, I checked every grocery in the area and after realizing the product truly wasn’t avalable, decided to ask the owners of Glatt27 if they could help me out. They called their suppliers and even checked the local markets where they lived and came up with nolthing. Obviously, the story does turn out well for me, the owners wife searched in their personal passover pantry and found an extra canister of Lieber’s Confectioners Sugar and brought it for me the following day, I can not tell you how overjoyed I was! If only all business owners had that dedication to customer service and satisfaction. I hae been loyal, happy, and satified Glatt27 customer ever since!
