This is my favorite of the 22 parks in the Town of Highland Park, hands down! The giant fountain on one end and the large open space on the other blend form and function beautifully. The gazebo is a lovely focal point to bridge the two. I will say, however, that it could use a little bit of attention. While very sturdy, it has a good bit of cosmetic wear and damage to it. A little elbow grease could have it cleaned up and shining as I’m sure it once did. I could see it being a wonderful wedding venue, but the restrictions are a little too severe for most couples, particularly those of the Highland Park crowd.

Sauntering through Highland Park, we stumbled upon a massive yard good for playing fetch with a handsome dog, a gazebo surrounded by a garden of flowers and a shallow pool under big aged trees with a bubbly french fountain. It exuded a European casual luxury. What’s this park called? I remarked at discovering another hidden sweet outdoor space good for picnics or a calming conversation with a good friend. Steve thought it was called«Versailles Park», there is no signage, but this place is in fact called Flippen Park, in the name of a Highland Park founder, not a gesture related to road rage in Dallas traffic, or the financial disparity you might feel in this idyllic spot of rich American suburbia. The Gazebo can be rented out for weddings by Highland Park residents. Follow Lomo Alto from the Whole Foods on Lemmon and take a lovely brisk walk with a feiend. Bring baguette.
