Pretty decent small ice cream place in highland park. I have been satisfied with all the ice cream I have tried here and I have tried a lot because I usually come with a lot of friends so I can try more flavors and kinds of ice cream at one time. My favorite so far is still vanilla soft serve with pineapple. Their soft serve is super creamy! I also like chocolate dipped coconut hard serve ice cream.
They have some tables outside so it can be a little chilly to hang out here after summertime. I was really cold last time i ate there. But def a great spot for summer!
Only thing you need to watch out is that they only take CASH!

I love that this place offers non dairy ice cream. I got the arctic blend with the chocolate non dairy ice cream and it was delicious. The ND ice cream is flavorful and doesn’t weigh you down. I’m not usually a fan of soft serve, but OH MAN was it good. (I tried my friend’s who got a swirl dipped in chocolate).
Their portions are large so I would recommend going with a small. I wish I had found out about it closer to the beginning of the summer but I’ll be back many times before they close up shop again.

Welp looks like someone bought a «dead» Dairy Queen and re-​purposed it… in a good way. Lots of hard ice cream flavors, some non-​dairy/​vegan options and the standard soft serve. What I like about this little local shop is the extended menu items. They have found a way to make themselves something more than just an ice cream spot. Some frozen coffee options, a few fresh fruit flavors and bam you have a consistent steady stream of loyal customers. There was no line but new people came into the parking lot and left happy with their selection.

The banana ice cream is so good! Get it chocolate dipped too! It kind of tastes like banana pudding from Magnolia’s Bakery. If you’re into small-​town family-​owned shops, this place is for you. It’s a cute little place by the road with tons of unique, traditional, and local flavors. Cash only and drive-​thru only (although theres a little wooden table by the parking lot where my friends and I chilled and ate our ice cream).

This is a mom and pop shop with cash only payments. I love these kind of shops! Everything tastes great! I loved the ice cream and the fact that they would chocolate dip your ice cream for you made me even more happy! Next time I want to try one of the sundaes! I definitely will be coming here again on warm days when the walk from NB to Highland Park is pleasant.

I love this place! Their non dairy ice cream is so creamy and flavorful. Their dairy ice cream is even better, and there are so many choices!
The best part of this place is that it reminds me of a little roadside ice cream shoppe that my mother used to take me to after piano lessons. Nostalgia. Oy, am I getting old or what?

Best ice cream around, hands down. The soft serve is creamy and smooth. The sizes are larger than you’d expect. Excellent sundaes, cones, slushes, and Italian ice. Never been disappointed.

Went here and got the banana ice cream and it was pretty spectacular I must say. It had the nice, rich, creamy flavor that some ice cream places attempt to have but fall just short. It’s a little hole in the wall place with a few tables and chairs so, there’s room to just sit for a while. They only take cash so, please keep that in mind.

I was pleased to see that they added a few more non-​dairy flavors! They now have choc, vanilla, strawberry, Mint chip, and cookies n cream. I got the mint chip w Oreos and it was delicious. I got a kiddie size with toppings and it was $ 3.25. Very affordable!

I felt like having dairy free ice cream and found this place via Unilocal.It’s a pretty old school looking ice cream shop; it’s reminded me of Dairy Queen, haha. They have so many different cold treats and sweets on their menu, from frozen yogurt to coffee shakes. Ice cream serving was large; I finished the rest at home. My husband enjoyed his coffee shake. I’ll have to try a «regular» ice cream cone because I wasn’t that impressed with mine. But maybe I should have added sprinkles. They make ice cream much better!

In a 2 square mile radius we have Baskin Robbins, carvel and dairy deluxe. If I have a choice it is always dairy deluxe I choose.
Ice cream is so much better here. The prices are reasonable and everyone there is beyond nice and courteous. I am just upset that they have to close for the winter but I guess it gives me something to look forward to in the spring.

Super nice owner and quick service. I had a butterscotch dipped twist and it was very good. My fiancé had a twist shake with malt and that was awesome. The sundaes are big for the price. I’ll definitely be back if I find myself in that part of jersey again.

I’ve been coming here since I was a small child, and this is an incredible little ice cream shack — literally.
As a few other reviewers noted, there are just enough varieties of ice cream — several flavors of soft-​serve, several hard ice creams, but not too many that it’s overwhelming to go there.
Fast and friendly service, great prices, and a charming neighborhood setting are just a few of the things that make Dairy Deluxe great.

It has vegan ice cream! I’ve been here a few times and it wasn’t until I randomly read Unilocal reviews and it has a section for dairy-​free ice cream! Yay! Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, I’m not sure what else but I thought it was great. I think it’s funny it’s called Dairy Deluxe but we love some non-​dairy ice cream.
My boyfriend got the cookies and cream non-​dairy ice cream and it tasted great. I got a regular vanilla cone with sprinkles and yum. I’m glad we found out this place has something for him. We’ll def be back again before it closes for winter!
