Bear Mountain Pizza & Cafe

Excellent pizza… can’t wait for the dining room to open. There are 4 phases to this great facility and the pizza café is only the first phase… also planned is opening rooms upstairs and a bar down in the back. Sounds wonderful…

After reading such glowing remarks on Unilocal about this place I stopped by on a beautiful afternoon because of the outdoor seating, and I was craving pizza and ice cream. I’m still puzzled about the previous reviews because my experience was very different.
First let me say it’s kind of eerie in there. The Old Oak was once a beautiful property but now has an abandoned feel, aside from the pizza place on the ground floor. I live in the neighboring area and remember it well.
I stopped in around noon, and I was the only customer, and there was 1 employee. I was going to order a whole pizza, but realized this is a CASH ONLY place and I ordered 2 specialty slices off the display. No take out menu either, just a chalk board. No sandwiches, no salads, and no starters except wings and fried mozzarella. No credit cards, no delivery either, no website for info, phone number seems like a cell phone, very amateurish, non professional.
The slices were fair, a bit bland (odd for BBQ chicken!, margherita slice was just ok), but I was overcharged. They are each $ 3.50 plus tax, which should have been $ 7.57– $ 7.60 but the guy behind the counter asked for $ 8, without ringing me up in a register. I mean forty odd cents is no big deal, but its the principal.
I wanted to get some ice cream for dessert, but sadly the ice cream case was empty except for 1 flavor. Surprising because outside there is a big banner that says «ice cream». There was 1 cannoli on display but it didn’t look appealing.
Really nothing special, just about fair. Based on the previous reviews I left very disappointed.

I ordered a half sausage and mushroom and half bacon chicken. When I got the pie home I called and was told it doesn’t come with sauce I needed to ask for sauce. I’ve been eating sausage and mushroom pizza my whole life it’s never come without sauce. The last time I ordered a pie there where wholes in the bottom of the crust. I give everyone a second chance and they blew theirs. Pizza has sauce.

I’m a pizza snob… I work in the city and good pizza has always seemed to be out of reach outside of the boros. This pizza is amazing. The location is amazing. The woodwork at the fire place is amazing. The chef is a gentleman and takes pride in his craft. Bring your business here… trust me.

This has become my favorite pizza place in the West Point area, although the prices are a little high for what you get.
We love the «Sexy Pizza» (although it’s a little strange that Foodies across the road has a similar pizza with the same name).
I can’t recommend the salads, however. The «tossed salad» we got tonight was an aluminum container filled with mostly iceberg lettuce and some sad tomatoes, for about $ 8.

My friend and I love great pizza, and she doesn’t live in the area anymore, so she hadn’t yet tried this pie. Heaven! The sexy is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. The gelato is delicious if you have the room!

My favorite pizza place! They always have something new and I’m always trying something new. Every thing is so good! My favorite besides the pizza their cheesecake! It was like $ 7 a slice, but totally worth it! The people are awesome! The only thing I don’t like… is that it’s cash only.

The food is pretty decent, pizza is good. The entrees less so, the sodium and garlic content of the pasta dish I ordered was astronomical. Layout of the business is strange. No room to que up properly. As far as options for Italian food in the area, they are the only remotely palatable location for 10 miles in any direction which should help their business. The gelato is well above average. It’s nice to have a decent pizza place in the area, but it’s just not 5 stars.

Okay, now that I woke up from a food coma, I can write a review… The best home made rice balls (bigger then the size of a softball) and penne vodka In the area. I was on my way up to visit my Nana (Nonna) who lives in cornwall. Stopped into this place for the first time looking to grab a pie to go. Typically I’m never impressed with the food verity near her house in Cornwall so I gave this place a shot. when I saw the Rice balls in the show case I had to have them! The rice ball was like the ones my Nana use to make but on steroids, truly a meal in itself and absolutely delicious, also ordered Pene Vodka which hit the spot.
My only complaint– I needed some bread on the side so I could eat with both hands a not let the extra gravy go to waste. Other then that 5 out of 5 and it nice to see a true mom and pop shop with a very friendly staff.
P. S. Next time I go up for a visit, I will stop at this place to try their fried calzone. Saw one that was the size of Stuie’s head from family guy!

I pass by this place everyday on the way home from work. I live in Cornwall. I stopped by with my daughter today and was greeted by the very friendly staff… They really give off a good vibe Food was great … Will be ordering from here again… Only negative thing is they dont accept credit cards yet.

Delicious margherita /​sexy pie! Sauce is nice and thick, just right amount of sweet, good amount of fresh basil and mozzarella!

Great new pizza place in the area — My husband who was a pizza man in his young years is not easily giving awesome ratings — actually *almost never to be honest, but he went there recently and like it so much so he asked me to submit his review here for him — «Sicilian pizza and eggplant roll were 10 out 10 — cooked perfectly with incredible flavor. Friendly service and he will be back for more!

This place is awesome. They have the best grandma pizza and awesome Gelato. Everyone there is so friendly. Finally we got a great local place where I can pick up a slice, pie, or sub whenever I’m hungry.

Great pizza finally comes to the fort! My family and I are so excited that THE OLD OAK INN is finally opening its doors again. You’ll find lots of different delicious pizzas in their display case at all times. Everyone is so friendly. My grandchildren love to play with some toys and puzzles they have in their sitting area while enjoying their pizza. This is an excellent place to eat!

I have been waiting for something like this for years– a place to get a quick bite on the way home. The pizza was fucking excellent and the knots were perfect.

my SO and myself decided to visit this charming new y-​wk old restaurant after hitting up the tower atop Bear Mtn, and we’re not disappointed. The pies put a lot of the pizza in the city to shame, Tom & Providence put love into it and the ingredients are really good. Sweet peppers, fire roasted chicken, and really decent crust. Above all that, their demeanor and service was so friendly I was nearly startled but pleasantly surprised. Also the hot wings are just spicy enough with an awful lot of flavor. Exactly what I was hoping for.

Took a day trip Upstate to see the fall foliage & coincidently drove by this place. And what a pleasant surprise this place turned out to be. We ate al fresco by the «Old oak tree «situated in the front of the place & enjoyed the most delicious, freshly made pizza! We also savored their homemade gelato. We’d definitely go back there again. (Especially since I’m still tasting their scrumptious gelato).

Outstanding! The ‘real deal’ pizza! Made with passion, rustic and authentic. This is the best pizza you will find in the area. You won’t be disappointed! I used to live in Italy and can say for sure that this is good, authentic Italian pizza!
